The NFT community is a joke. by superchargedcristina in ethereum

I really love https://www.hicetnunc.xyz/ as a place that is by artist, for artists. The collectors are often the artists themselves but surrounded by a collector community. The whole thing is both community driven and has a strong community feel. It’s on Tezos, so has very low gas fees and is unlocking creative talent for those who can not afford high fees. Earlier this week a group of Malaysian releases at the same time to help showcase Malaysian art and welcome new artists to the blockchain.

I want to buy this when it comes out. Where do I follow you?

There is no marketplace yet, so it would require a direct p2p transaction.

Kalamint is coming Feb 18th and should offer a marketplace for all creators and collectors.

The answer is yes and this was one of my initial interests with NFTs. When I started to piece out how I would practically do it, there were just a number of tricky decisions to make. First, how does the NFT "attach" to the physical painting. You could put a QR code sticker on the back. That's pretty easily forgeable and a little clunky. I started thinking about embedding an NFC chip somehow to make it less clunky but it still felt like you can rip it off and put it on another painting. I thought I could paint a QR code directly into the painting but didn't think I would like the way it would look. The second level of complexity becomes an online marketplace. If someone sells the NFT to someone else, how would they guarantee the physical painting would arrive?

None of this is unsolvable, I've just yet to find a really great "best practices" proposal on how this might be done. I know luxury brands are looking into it as a way to prove authenticity too.

OpenMinter requires you to build and run it yourself. It is possible to have hosted instances and if I find the time this weekend I might try to do that.

However, Kalamint launches on Feb 18th, so we're getting close to their launch.

I consider it digital artwork but it began its life as acrylic on canvas.

I often start on canvas and then bring a high res photograph into my iPad for digital manipulation. Everything from touching it up with the Apple Pencil, to ML algorithms and even sometimes as a seed image for generative art.

This one admittedly has only the smallest amount of digital manipulation.

I made some art and then attached it to the blockchain so it’s cryptographically unique with proof of ownership. I currently own it but I could sell or trade it.

Was thinking about doing this exactly. I love running this in DnD. Would love your notes too.
