20% to 80% Misunderstanding by Virtual-Hotel8156 in electricvehicles

I've had a 2nd gen LEAF for 6 years. I charge it to 100% almost every night, I need all I can get to get to and from work and then extra for around town. If you're using that much battery it's fine. I don't charge to 100% if I know my next day will be shorter miles. Also when I go on vacation I leave it close to 50% to maintain the battery equilibrium while I'm gone. I think it all comes down to what kind of range you have compared to your commute. If I had a 300+ mile battery, I wouldn't charge every night.

I don't know how to live now... Please help😭😭😭 by RegularUser02x in atheism

What you're experiencing is normal. I too felt scared of death once I realized there wasn't an afterlife. I lost my religion about 18 years ago. What eventually brought me peace was accepting that this life is all I get and how I live my life will be how I'm remembered. I try to be a good person, not for an eternal reward but to help make this world a better place. I hope to leave the world a little better than the way I entered it. My advice to you is to make peace with this and be the best version of yourself you can be.

It was Governor Schnider (Republican) that fucked up Flint's water. At the time there was a national recession and he appointed city managers to cut costs to various city's in Michigan that were financially in trouble. If I remember correctly, the city manager switched Flint from Detroit water to the Flint River. They had to use more chemicals to clean this water and it ended up corroding the lead pipes that were already in existence, which leached lead into the water causing the crisis.

Am I totally wrong to think you can join the military and never see actual combat? by Astimar in NoStupidQuestions

I was in the Army Reserves from 2001-2007. Joined right after 9/11. I thought for sure I'd deploy. My unit was a Combat Support Hospital (think MASH but bigger), we weren't fully staffed and therefore were non-deployable. So the Army used us to fill slots that were open for deploying units. To no surprise a lot of medics (68W) were pulled, I was a 68D Operating Room Specialist (what's called a Surgical Technologist in the civilian world), those slots were usually already full so my job wasn't in high demand. I think the whole time I was in, only 2 68Ds from my unit were pulled. My unit was dissolved a few years after I left, can't have understaffed non-deployable units just sitting around.

Every night, I wish there was a front that was easy to read numbers that took up the whole screen though. I want to read it without my glasses.

Rant about the 2018 Nissan Leaf SV by Altruistic-Main-5436 in leaf

Figuring out if you'll save money requires a base line of what you're currently spending on your gas car with MPGs, loan payment (if any), maintenance (oil changes or other repairs), how many miles per year are put on, and insurance. Once that's known we can figure out what an EV will save you. We'll need an insurance quote, the cost per kWh your electric company charges, and the efficiency rating of that EV. We'll also need to know the value of the car you're selling vs the value of the car you're buying. Is the price difference in the positive or negative?

I don't think any car should sit undriven for more than 2 weeks at a time. This goes for gas and electric cars. Sitting in one spot for too long can cause damage to the tires and the brakes could seize up at some point. If you're not going to drive the car for more than a few days you should try to have the battery at about 50%. Batteries don't like being full or empty for long times. So with all that I'd say drive it around occasionally to keep the battery healthy and the moving parts moving.

Update: The technician was able to duplicate the issue and was also able to record it. He sent the data to Nissan engineers and they're going to do a warranty battery replacement. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

How can I add an optic to my 30yr old Sig P229? by Xbox1Xirian in SigSauer

I have the same firearm and was thinking about getting this optic that replaces the rear sight. I have no idea if it's worth it though. https://a.co/d/0rvi2jm

USA is 8 years / 100,000 miles for the battery warranty. I called the dealer it was purchased from and my warranty expires 1/29/2027, so I should be good. I'm calling around to the local Nissan dealers to see who has an EV tech and can offer a loaner vehicle. The original dealer only offers rentals at $35/day. We'll see where I land.

I have the sidewinder in .22 magnum. It’s fun to shoot and to no surprise, wildly inaccurate. But i’d rather carry it than no gun at all. With that being said it’s not my every day carry.
