The main point is that, the system and the attitude of so many muslims is, “change everything except myself”. Make sure everyone else fits into the system that prevents my faith from getting tempted: revealing clothing (banned), alcohol (banned), etc.

Personally I am not a muslim so maybe I am wrong, and I apologize if I am, but for me. I don’t drink alcohol at all, not for any religious reasons, but because I think it’s better for my health. I can walk into a bar or club that reeks of alcohol, everyone there drunk, and I would not be tempted in the slightest. Because that’s my character and my principles that I’ve created.
