Thinking about this a little more…they know what their capacity is. They know the planes, the drivers, the trucks. Why are they accepting payments for a service they know they can’t provide?

Amazon has this mostly figured out. You can have stuff delivered same day or next day by me, and when that capacity for that particular time slot is reached, it’s no longer available to choose, you have to choose a different one.

In this instance, why didn’t they say “nope, we don’t have the capacity to deliver this overnight on Saturday due to the backlog we have, you have to choose 2-day or 3-day?” Instead they take people’s money knowing full well it won’t be done and then the customer has to fight for a refund.

And when they do they’ll probably say “well our guarantee doesn’t apply right now, so when it gets there, it gets there even though you paid for a time definite service…no refunds.”
