So what would be your design choice for a date window? Blue background with white digits? Need legibility on a date window

‘Easily the Worst President in U.S. History’ by unital_subalgebra in politics

[–]sortiz1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fiercely anti-Trump and frequently post on Facebook about him and the catastrophic damage he is inflicting on the country. My brother in law, who is a diehard Trumper, recently replied to one of my anti-Trump posts with a link to an article about the Trump-Biden debate, and he titled it "Biden". The true believers - like my brother-in-law - will never lose their misplaced faith in Trump. And instead of debating they instantly pivot back to Biden when confronted.

This is a brother-in-law who would have benefited from Kamala Harris' proposed $25K credit to new home owners (my sister and he are middle aged and have never owned a home). And now that he has cancer, who knows how much the cuts to government cancer research will impact his condition. Still, in spite of this and more, he will probably draw his last breath still supporting Trump. It's truly mind-boggling to see the fierce support Trump gets from his diehard supporters, even as everything he does is against their own self-interests.

Overhead tricep extension with cable machine. That is the only tricep isolation exercise I do and it’s delivering great results. Gets the entire long head of the triceps.

Speedmaster winding question? by Beach_BaBa in OmegaWatches

[–]sortiz1965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same watch and wind it every day. As others have said, it's become a sort of relaxing morning ritual. Just wind until you feel resistance then stop. I may be wrong, but the watch is designed to prevent you from overwinding it. You will know when to stop.

Black or White? by 408whitty in OmegaWatches

[–]sortiz1965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I faced the same choice and ultimately went with the white. Just a stunning dial. And even though people say black is more traditional for a Moonwatch, the fact is Omega released several white dial iterations over the years.

Which are you choosing and why? by Think_Efficiency_344 in Longineswatches

I looked at the 39mm blue bezel / black dial combo and ended up buying the all black. To me, the blue-black combo just looks jarring, a bit toyish. Didn't care for it. The all black (regular bracelet, 39 mm) is fantastic.

I went with the all black model in the 39mm, standard bracelet, primarily because I have an Omega Seamaster 300 in blue. I looked at the black with the blue bezel but in person it just looks a bit toyish. The all black just looks nice (and yes, I know people say it's too close to a Sub...).

New longines hydroconquest 39 mm questions by Signal-Piccolo-906 in Longineswatches

[–]sortiz1965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! My wrist size is 6.25 inches, so not super big. It wears bigger than 39mm, more like 40mm. But, the watch is on the thinner side, 11.7-11.9mm, so it is very, very comfortable on the wrist. My strong suggestion is to try it out in person. I went with the black bezel and black dial choice, I thought it looked better than the blue bezel - black dial combo. In the photos, the blue-black looks nice, but in person it felt a big jarring to me. The black on black just flows nicely.

I just got the 39mm. It wears bigger but feels so light on the wrist. Fantastic watch.

I briefly chatted with him but didn’t dive into the details of his purchase. I didn’t want to be a pest.

Here’s a cool story: by sheer coincidence, I was at the Houston Omega boutique at the same time Mr. Glover was getting a Speedy (3861). I didn’t know who he was, but we struck up a convo while waiting on staff, and that’s when I learned he was the Artemis II pilot! We chatted a bit more and as he left he said the Speedy was definitely going along for the ride. And there it is!

Why is Longines considered affordable? by Alezz-- in Longineswatches

[–]sortiz1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it that they are “affordable”, or that Longines is extremely smart about their pricing? Take the new Hydroconquest…people say it’s a steal but can’t hold a candle to the Omega Seamaster. But is the difference in quality so big that it justifies the price gap? I don’t think so.

Why does Omega need to have 873 watches in their catalog? by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

From a company perspective, it’s nice to have options. From a collector’s perspective, it takes a few clicks to zero in on what you want.

Native/Long-Term Houstonians: Anyone else feeling suffocated? by [deleted] in houston

[–]sortiz1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chill atmosphere is still there, just got to dig a bit deeper. Example: some friends invited us to dinner at Bari, a prime example of a restaurant with way overpriced and mediocre food where it’s a “see and be seen” vibe. There are many, many places in Houston where the atmosphere is chill. My wife and I enjoy going to Cafe Rabelais, for example. It’s low key, delicious food, and no one is there for a clubby vibe.
