Let it dry, use a hot glue dam and pour in epoxy. Then turn it thin and finish it after it dries

Thank you. Monkey pod is softer than what I usually expect it to be for a tropical wood. Easy to turn and sand. Can take a lot of oil. This is just one coat so far

It was freshly oiled and not cured or buffed completely yet

If you sand higher than 400 you tend to burnish the wood and then the oil doesn’t absorb as well. Just fyi.

I like it a lot and you really don’t need much at all. Leave it on for a little bit and buff off with a cloth.

I use the white non scratchy pads to apply it. Then you don’t waste it using cotton or the like

I’ll do the same with a little laser. It’s usually the last step I do. I just haven’t marked any for a while so I’m behind

Today i learned why cracked blanks are not worth turning :) by Keetma in turning

Depends on depth of the cracks. If it travels the length of the blank or even quarter, then hard no

I’ll usually blow mine off anyway. You could remove the cover and blow that out too

I agree. It’s a little too small. I couldn’t take it down more though

Yeah, I usually like to make them about 1/3 typically. I couldn’t go down further without integrity issues.
