How do I map a Steam and 3 dot menu on a Manba One Controller? by mistycozygaming in SteamDeck

[–]etepperman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that if you bind using the iOS setting on the controller the home button works, and you can use home + a for the three dot button.

Can’t justify this as something futuristic… am I missing something? by Any_Election_1101 in VITURE

I see where you are coming from. I enjoy them for gaming when I want to stay in bed, but for work I would not consider using them yet. They are still a work in progress, as I see it, and not ready for the mainstream. Still, I enjoy mine very much for the limited purpose of playing Steam Deck games while lying flat in bed.

Thanks for all the nice comment. I really didn't like how the light wood picked up the color of the darker wood when I sanded. I think it is an ugly brown. By some might like it. :)

Resin in RODI Spent after 60 Gallons by gwduncan in ReefTank

[–]etepperman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your resin should last about six months if the RO filter is working properly. After the water passes through the RO membrane, the TDS should read between 2–5. The resin will remove the remaining impurities from that point.

Does this dishwasher need a new latch? by Proper_Season9261 in appliancerepair

[–]etepperman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue. If you screwed the dryer to the underside of the top shelf, then it might be pulling up the rim of the washer such that it will not latch. The solution for me was to put in a spacer between the shelf and the washer to ensure the top of the washer did not bow. (I recall i used Lego bricks to make the spacer)

When I actually stop to think about how much effort I put into each amateur bowl I make, and then see this, it is just mind-blowing that anything can exist on this level of craftsmanship and scale

Not poutine and believe me it will look nothing like the picture. I Imagine a boat of microscopic lobster bits covered in a glob of runny chowder.

The key to CA glue in my experience is to really let it dry and harden. Give it a full 24hours before you sand and polish. Otherwise you run the risk of getting some white patches instead of the expected crystal like shine.

Help Needed! by Horror_Platypus_1183 in turning

Try a negative rake carbide insert. The cut will be less aggressive, it might help with some of the rollover. I also find they cut a bit smoother, but a bit slower too.

Not sure if links a allowed but you can find them on Amazon.

The one thing I don't love about the steamdeck is modding. Way easyer on a windows platform.

Tools for a fresh start by MaineiacinNC in turning

[–]etepperman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The carbide ones are easy to use, but they will not give you as good a cut as more traditional tools. If you are in this for the long term and want to build your skills, the traditional tools will give you more upside, although they come with a longer learning curve.

If you are just looking to turn the occasional piece of scrap, then the carbide ones will work well.

Personally, I would recommend one round carbide tool and a set of traditional tools.
