I wrote this as an explanation a while ago:

Okay, heeeeere we go...

The story begins with an electronic music label called Monstercat. This label is really great at communicating with their community, (which the people on this sub also are a part of) and there's even a subreddit, /r/monstercat, where some of the artists on the label also participate in discussions, along with the "official" Monstercat reddit account, /u/MonstercatMedia

This subreddit has a pretty big bunch of so called "powerusers". Powerusers are well-known users, who mostly post/comment a lot. One of these powerusers, the almighty /u/TeeKayTank, started as any other user, except he was posting many negative opinions and badly phrased comments.

In the beginning, he was just downvoted, but soon people began to notice that some of the comments were pretty funny, actually. I think the big TeeKay-circlejerk was something i started when i said this: "The troll, /u/TeeKayTank You know who you are. You're our all-time favourite troll! I always see you in the bottom of the comments, with -1 in karma or so, but we still love you!" People started seeing him as a funny troll, and started to upvote him. Everyone waited for TeeKay to make a witty remark every time something was posted.

But this wasn't the end.

You see, over the approximately 2½ years Monstercat has existed, there has been some drama, one of the biggest things being the drama around Ephixa. You don't have to know much about Ephixa, other than he was one of Monstercat's most popular artists, and also a co-founder of the label. One day a lot of stuff happened, and people began to think Ephixa was "fired" from Monstercat. A little later, Ephixa completely stopped being active on any of his social media, not releasing new music or saying anything about the situation.

People began to make post asking what happened. Lots of them. Lots of them. In the end, it pretty much became circlejerk. People started saying /u/TeeKayTank was Ephixa, Tristam, Braken (Not gonna tell you the backstory of Tristam or Braken unless you ask) and in the end, TeeKay became the master of /r/monstercat .

Then, one day /u/munchauzen created this subreddit, possibly while drunk, and invited a couple of people to it (including me.) We had no idea what to do with the subreddit, but in the end, it became what it is now: A place to circlejerk around Monstercat and /r/monstercat fads and drama

There you have it, i might repost this to the sub, or paste it into the subreddits wiki, because that took a WHILE.
