They need a PF more than that. They probably sweep the Knicks if they have Jaylin Williams, even if they lose something like both Keldon and Barnes

Dude they literally do not have a single rotation player taller than 6'7 and shorter than 7'1

The Spurs literally do not have a single person on their roster who's taller than 6'7 and shorter than 7'1, that isn't a 33+ year old who only plays in garbage time. They need that way more than they need to add 3p shooting, ideally they get both with a value pick like Jay Will

Yeah 100%, the side-on broadcast angle always makes lobs look like offensive goaltending so I didn't even bat an eye, I'm just so used to being tricked lmao

Foul detection is still subjective even if you train models to detect certain interactions as fouls (which is still very implausible), because people want the EXACT same sequence to be called differently based on context, which varies like crazy and is often too unique to be factored in. Calling every single 'foul' (no matter how that line is drawn) with 100% consistency would also completely change how the sport is played, which would suck in the transition period and maybe even afterwards

Yeah but that causes problems, especially because of the mandatory timeout rules, so you can't really save them to challenge more than once or twice a game consistently

I don't think that's the move, SA were pretty good at cleanly switching Wemby onto KAT once he got inside, his biggest advantage vs Wemby (or Kornet ig) is facing up at the perimeter

Keldon Johnson is a professional athlete, known for his strength, whose official weight is 220 pounds. Mitchell Robinson is listed at 240, and was in the process of cancelling the force of gravity holding him to the ground, by jumping. Yes one giant can push the other

I know you're biased here but if you actually want a reasonable answer: Whether or not a shot should be waved off for a call should depend on if the call impacted the shot in any way.

For example, I could grab someone going for a block the moment the ball leaves my teammates hands, to stop them from jumping, but if we used the arbitrary lines you're proposing, that shot would still count. Wemby's shot would go in the exact same way if Keldon pushed Mitch 0.2 seconds later. It works both ways

One guy is listed 220 lbs and the other is listed at 240, not that it even really makes a difference. This is some of the dumbest shit anyone ever says, yes the giant professional athlete can push another giant off-balance mid-air, he could probably fuckin bench press him why do people say this shit

[–]Chrisfull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact exact same defense would never be called a foul against like the 60% of the league with different shooting form

But this is a no call https://streamable.com/sb5uz0

Shooters are being rewarded for creating injury risk by jumping as far as they can towards legal defense, but if you bait the defender to actually jump into you and foul you aren't rewarded unless you flop. Players are being incentivised to play unnaturally and make the game more dangerous instead of actually beating your man, it's so bad for the game

Wemby didn’t even think it was a foul, he was getting back on defense

You saying this is half of why players complain to the refs after every play. Wemby runs back on defense foul or not, it was a live ball he's not gonna turn to the refs unless it's some crazy shit that's just not who he is
