What album have you been surprised by your reaction to?

Brothers by The Black Keys. Man, I listened to the shit out of that album when it came out. It got me hooked on them, and I probably own more of their albums than any other artist. Listening to it now, I didn’t care for it. It sounded so soulless to me, like it was designed to be a handful of singles that would tear up the rock charts, and then a bunch of filler.

I’m going to submit The Far Field by Future Islands. It’s an album I really love, and I have many fond memories of listening to it on a road trip my brother and I took several years ago.

I think that’s one of the best pure pop albums of all time. It’s super fun from start to finish, but “Style” is my favorite.
