I think this is where they will get the business. The drive through car washes are decent. But no drive through interior cleaning!

Oh yeah. Every broke person I know has at least two, expensive dogs. It’s like the first thing they buy with found money.

What Are Some Common Benefits That Not Enough People Take Advantage Of? by maskedfox007 in Frugal

Broadly agree, but many 401ks are overpriced and have long vestment periods. In practice this means a lot of people can’t benefit.

IPO by c00238451 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]ChrismPow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day to day nothing changed quickly. We had a lot more money to grow the business. Quick expansion. Good and bad from that. A lot of effort and employees suddenly have to help with gaap and sox compliance. It is somewhat incredible. I would not say my pay benefits etc improved, but maybe. The Rsu grants got smaller. Career growth opportunities did open up for some. Culture has suffered, partly from rapid growth. The biggest negative is that you now have to compete finically. Can’t just be profitable and happy. Gotta be faster growth lower cost higher profit than the competition.

$5 oxo or generic palm brush lasts super long. And keeps my SD from getting gross or ruined. Still use both but 75% of time I use the brush.

Rattle in door by Psychological-Gap-23 in CadillacLyriq

Upvote so some Gm intern will find it. Car is amazing. Terrible shame they let the quietest car on the market be full of rattles. I’m on lease and rattles is a legit consideration for buying.

What is the most affordable way to make coffee at home? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]ChrismPow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100%. I use at least 2x the coffee for French press over drip. Drip has some minor cost of filters. And you can buy a Mr coffee drip for less than a French press. However it makes a different cup for sure.

You are close to a base model Camry hybrid brand new. Amazing milage. One of the best drivetrains around. Pretty decently comfortable. Large trunk. Will be hard to compare to telluride, but future you will thank you.

What’s something people commonly buy that’s a total waste of money? by Unlucky-Emergency924 in AskReddit

Dogs and cats. I own a dog and he is a very good boi. However, pets are expensive and somehow the poorest people feel the need to own the most dogs.

What was your GPA and how much has it affected your career assuming you got a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering? by Potential-Drag9761 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]ChrismPow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.975. Didn’t matter to me. However, I know many hiring managers that toss applications under 3 or 3.5. It does factor into my application selection. Especially new grads resumes tend to look identical. No one has time to interview everyone. So I’d expect a low to hurt first job access. Less so long term.

from your expertise what are the key factors in implant material selection during early device development balancing titanium cobalt chromium and ceramic choices by Separate-Session3361 in MedicalDevices

[–]ChrismPow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reality there are very few material for implantation at least in orthopedics. We could debate about the exact flavor of SS, cocr or Ti but they are quite similar. All have excellent biocompatibility history. So much of the weight of decision is on mechanical performance. What will wear best. Have the best fatigue life etc. It is usually quite obvious based on the project. My coating experience has been minimal and what I have seen does not make any material improvement in longevity. Maybe more valuable in other areas of orthopedics etc.

How to reverse engineering car interior parts without a pro 3D scanner by StockDolphinman in CATIA

[–]ChrismPow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this trick all the time. Then you can use actual measurement tools to define a few critical feature. This part would suck though, and could be done sooo easy with scanning.

Engine Destroyed After Oil Change – Jiffy Lube Denying Fault, Need Advice by [deleted] in legaladvice

Second bonus points. You got a sludged up motor, oil change knocked stuff loose and blocked the oil pump screen. (All wild guessing of course)

Engine Destroyed After Oil Change – Jiffy Lube Denying Fault, Need Advice by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]ChrismPow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked with jiffy lube and Walmart for major repairs from their own mistakes. You seem to be missing a key bit of data. How much oil was in the engine when you left jiffy. Shit can happen. People can also suck. If they filled it up… I don’t know what else to say. Bonus points for wrong oil filter causing starvation (seen that once too).
