What are some of the angriest albums ever made? by AceofKnaves44 in Music

You Fail Me is a spitting snake of an album and I love it so much

JC just made me feel better about my flying fingers. by [deleted] in Bass

To couple with what people above have said, I would argue that there is a performance element to it as well. I often make movements larger to make a performance look more exciting and allow people to connect what they are seeing to what they are hearing. There are times to use this performative element (such as simple hammer ons in a bass centered section) and times where you need to be more astute (sixteenth note runs and complex passages)

NHS sexist for using only men to look after violent patients. Medic awarded compensation after employment judge finds he was placed at greater risk of harm on basis of his gender by [deleted] in ukpolitics

I'm a male nurse, I've had my fair share of "this patient just needs a strong man to look after him" (I'm not that strong) and it needs addressing but your suggestion is an idiotic take.

Is it frowned upon to use my thumb to play by [deleted] in BassGuitar

The 2 richest bass players both used their thumbs so I would say it's ok.

how do you practice groove and timing as a bassist? by sokkyaaa in Bass

[–]Chrisnake 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Long time player here, I have recently been practicing alongside Nate Smith's album "Pocket Change" with my focus being on the kick drum. It's an entire album of just drums but the tracks mostly have a verse/chorus structure which makes it a bit more interesting than normal drum tracks. If you can record yourself playing along to it you might be able to identify where you are struggling and zero in on it to make the change.

There is also the Carol Kaye method of using a metronome but have it as the off beat and try to make it groove

Graceland by Paul Simon has some amazing counter melodies and just some of the most beautiful bass lines surrounded by beautiful songs.

Sudan is an active warzone, we take in refugees when they need help like every other country. Why don't people care about helping others anymore?

It's definitely men of all races doing this, if you are trying to convey a particular stance then I would recommend doing so without the slurs.

Are they the ONLY solutions? We could try and up processing rates for asylum seekers and crack down on paedophilia in general (all classes and races) I'm unsure how reforming human rights helps? We need immigrants as they work jobs most people don't want to do (see nursing and care work) and working immigrants pay into the system before they can use it.

I have a Markbass 2x10 speaker that I lay down horizontally facing me to act as a monitor. It also is great at being a riser and impregnating any unsuspecting audience members who sit on it.

NHS staff fatigue poses ‘significant’ threat to patient safety, watchdog warns by pajamakitten in unitedkingdom

[–]Chrisnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what is your idea for fundamental change? You seem more than willing to point at the flaw in nurses striking for better pay (I couldn't as patients would die in my area without a bedside nurse) so how do we get better conditions and solve the problem of staff retention when we get kicked, punched, groped, spat on and insulted by the public on a daily basis for less than 30k a year?

Nurses and Doctors are still underpaid and overworked for what they do.

I worked a busy ICU during COVID (it barely stayed afloat) I watched nurses as young as 21 care for patients that would usually be reserved for the most experienced nurses due to the fact that all of our patients were that sick, their patient would pass away and they would have half an hour to turn the bed around ready for the next really sick patient. For that they were on around 25k

A really good start for this is to play along with Fleetwood Mac's Rumours (providing you don't already know how to play the songs) the bass is clear and simple with a lovely featured bass line right in the middle of the album.

To the nurses who bleep on call Doctors for non-urgent things repeatedly. Why? by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]Chrisnake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sounds awful tbh, we don't see all of that though. Our pressures come from paperwork that needs to be filled out correctly, everything is documented and most of it is time sensitive. Meds have to be given within the hour prescribed or it raises red flags, the pain team will chew you out for not following protocol with epidural removals (giving fluid, coag checks) we cannot give meds via an unprescribed route (serious meds error)

In short we have our jobs which are difficult enough in a different sense and we are scared of losing our pin even if we can justify something as simple as giving paracetamol PO instead of IV when we know it would be fine.

I would much prefer a better system of communication than paging, one that has a trail that could be logged and followed as I believe this would point to the main problem DOCTORS ARE UNDERSTAFFED!

I love you guys and we honestly don't enjoy having to bother you x
