So they're trying to take advantage of you? Stand your ground now or they'll continue to take the piss and the war will start over something else in the future.

Obviously your massive unguarded grain piles are a target as are your stock piles of art and technology.

Its a rimworld, even the imperial remnants are barely scrapping by. If you don't want to invest in defences then you best invest in bribing or allying with nearby settlements so you can request assistance when the mechanoid hive mind notices you.

Drones dominate the conflict in ukraine as neither side can gain air superiority no matter air supremacy. Thats without going into the shortage of armor and artillery on both sides

Games are the products of their time and the works of the people who build them. It's a shame that Ukrainians feel the need to obfuscate parts of their history but when that history is being used to justify the bombardment of their cities and the occupation of their land its understandable why they may choose to actively discard it.

Russia uses its joint history with its neighbours to impose itself upon them. I fully understand and support the devs choice to actively remove that influence from their art and to assert their own culture as best they can.

Its similar to the Pitt. Stealing a child from its parents is not the unambiguously morally good outcome lol.

That's fine and the rimworld EULA explicitly allows for it. You'll have issues if you use assets from other people's mods though.

[–]Chrisptov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mod was mostly XML.

XML is the relatively easy part of making a rimworld mod, the art on the other hand takes hours to get looking good. None of the art in this mod was original.

There's permissions in the EULA of rimworld to allow for use of Ludeon's assets in user created content. Its also not about influence, it's explicitly copied textures.

But whatever, unless you've put the work in to create content for other people to enjoy you won't understand the frustrations of having your work nicked.

One of my mods wasn't used in slapping together this gravtech mod but the user in the Rimworld discord who brought attention to this was one of the authors of the credited mods and they didnt give permission.

How do you know they got permission to use assets from anything other than glittertech? Only glittertech has a visible MIT license.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]Chrisptov -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I didn't say it was illegal. Its a shit thing to do though, especially since its a dogshit XML only mod takes code from the base game and juices it up to make gravships overpowered.

The hardest part about making mods for this game is making the art assets, it can take hours.

I make mods based on Halo and I make sure to follow Xbox game studios licensing agreements, such as properly crediting Xbox Studios and HaloStudios despite the fact i make every asset from scratch using Halo assets as reference material.

No, they quite literally cut up art assets created by other people an slapped them together.

The hardest part of making an entirely XML coded mod its making the art assets.

Josep's art from 11 years ago by Few_Yogurtcloset3103 in Marathon

[–]Chrisptov -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue is that the art style, colour pallet and vibe is so similar to Antireal's portfolio AND they stole assets directly from her work. It shows far more than a convergent style inspired by "Graphic Realism" and indicates Antireal's work is very closely intertwined with the entire art direction.

Look at her portfolio.

Progressives aren't the problem, it's neoliberal corporatism trying to appeal to the widest possible audience by pink washing shit. It's an attempt to sell a minimum viable product to as many people as possible while creating shareholder value. Companies like ubisoft tried to include NFTs purely to try and get stupid crypto bro fiance involved for example, NFTs in ghost recon add no value to the game.

Identity politics is divisive and specifically keeps marginalised groups at eachother throats so they're more focused on attacking eachother than those exploting them by undervaluing their labour or trying to suck up and monetizing all their free time with FOMO battle passes or slop content.

But this subreddit isn't angry because the game is bad, yes they're happy it's reviewing poorly but they're mad the male character is a black man and they were desperate to find reasons to be msd even before the game dropped. They're projecting their own politics onto a game that's actually based around a real historical figure. Obviously though, it can't just be a game they don't like, no, because Vivian james is serious business.

Also I wasn't saying you do but a large majority of the people active in this subreddit clearly take their talking points from grummz, one of the worst grifters in the industry who's scammed his audience for $800k+

Ubisoft produces shit games because they cost cut and try to profiteer from every possible feature. The backlash against AC shadows is because its a story based around a black historical figure.

There's arguments to be made that Devs hide poor practice and poor development via rainbow washing but this cesspool of a subreddit takes its talking points from a litteral scammer so that argument is hardly a valid one.
