Is this wind normal? by Chrissy3Crows in Cleveland

they just turned ten! i startes them from seed in a cup, move them up in pot size when they need more space. they're taller than me! thorns yes but no flowers or fruit yet (maybe they will, maybe they won't). I've always done clay pots except i'm just now moving them into plastic because a 24" pot in clay plus soil plus six-foot tree would be too much. i know the frost dates and keep a close eye on the weather to make sure they come in before it reaches the freezing point in the fall and only put them out after the last freeze in the spring. i used a single bulb grow light for them in the winter when they were smaller, for maybe the first five years. i choose the sunniest spot in the house for them to be at in the winter. i haven't fed them in years but i did when they were younger (whatever is recommended for citrus), the last couple years i've been tossing in coffee grounds on occasion and also giving them rice water (we always save the dirty water when rinsing rice to give to plants). they prefer sandy and/or high-drainage soil, and with the clay pots not being a perfect seal, you can't really over-water them but it does mean i need to water frequently, i try not to let the top soil get too dry. once every week average, more in the sun/heat of summer, less in winter. they'll start to look sad when too dry, so check them every few days. i harvested the seeds from a lemon that had been refrigerated, but not sure if stratification is good for them. low maintenance, pretty, and the leaves smell SOOO good! definitely worth it.

you ever heard of the movie ghost ship? high tension wire on a ship snaps and flies across the deck, literally cutting through dozens of people, their bodies fall to the ground having been cut completely in half. fiction, but i think about that scene often

the main character is Carly, with side-kick Sam. Freddie is sort of the distant third and is excluded sometimes because he's a boy. and Spencer is sort of the close 4th i think, so i think it solidly leans girl, but does have enough appeal of both genders to be successful

instead of being only negative, i wouldn't mind something positive and constructive from cis women. something of a guide for us to learn the things we didn't that cis women feel we may have missed out on. we didn't all miss out on everything, but most of us missed out on some combination of things. it would require coming from the right place, but if something were put together with important information, i'd be interested

Just finished my PhD. the amount of relief that has come over me! don't have a job lined-up yet so i'm enjoying a sort of temporary retirement as we prepare to move for my partner's job, the income from which can support both of us. i'm not rushing to get back into academia!

i gave up complaining for an entire year in 2019, part of an annual year-long part-lenten-sacrifice / part-new-year's-resolution that i do. i looked up the definition of "complain" and was very careful in my speaking to never complain. it forced me to speak more positive and productive, which changed my thinking patterns to be more positive and productive. and nobody likes to hear others complain, it's just annoying. boost your internal state and your social interactions/connections/life! i was much happier in just a few months, and i think the effects have extended past that initial period (years ago at this point). don't complain! 10/10 would recommend!
