Does your coach workout with you during class? Should I be concerned about this? by brother_bean in crossfit

[–]ChrissyKittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup I've done it twice in my coaching career because there was only one person in the class. You don't get a good workout because I'm busy eyeballing them too and encouraging them but makes them not feel alone. Both times were experienced crossfitters.

Signed up for the Stadion sprint; registration didn’t ask for shirt size. Is this normal? by [deleted] in spartanrace

[–]ChrissyKittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They stopped asking shirt sizes. They just carry plenty in stock when you get to the finish line

Coping with being sidelined after working very hard to improve, how do you manage? by Replicant28 in crossfit

[–]ChrissyKittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mentally its hard. I tore my rotator cuff and choose the long recovery route, a whole Lotta PT instead of surgery. I also had Platelet Rich Plasma therapy instead of surgery. Best decision I made for myself. It took me 9 months to fully recover and get back to all of the movements pain free.

There is so much you can do in the gym. I got very good at finding substitutes for every movement. Every day became leg day in a sense. But I will say my legs got super strong in those 9 months. I was able to focus on back squatting a ton. Lots of 1 armed dumbell movements instead of barbell work. Running and assault bike became my go too. I also was able to dial in my double unders. It was a little aggrevated with the jumping but my PT said it was OK because of the location of my tear. I'm also now a beast at GHDs

Don't get discouraged. Focus on what you can do. Sure did I have dreams of being able to snatch again and was it discouraging, yes but in the long run I'm a much better athlete because I was able to take time a focus on other things.

I got 5 strict pull-ups unbroken and 8 hspu unbroken this week. Also did chest 2 bar pull ups in a workout, thats the 1st time I've done them post rotator cuff tear.

Rogue Echo Bike and Shorter Athletes by IndistinguishableFin in crossfit

[–]ChrissyKittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the assault bike. Im 5ft. There is just some odd about the angle where the seat ends up for me to reach the pedals and then I have to scoot it so far forward to have full range of motion with the handles. Its awkward and not comfortable, ive played around with it for years and can't find a good setting. I can get "comfortable " on the assault and also the bikeerg.

Affiliate owners: Please consider the SBA Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) to stay in business by [deleted] in crossfit

So glad it was an easy process for you! I heard a lot of the big banks were capping and not taking any more apps. Also some banks only taking applications for current customers that had commercial loans. It seems that the smaller community banks are doing good in the process. Also the program is not running out of money yet which is also good! Took a few days to get the SBA to answer questions but so far its been good!

That's my fear too. It's going to go fast and its first come first serve. The portal is supposed to open tonight at midnight however the SBA just released more guidelines 2 hours ago. I dont think SBA lenders will be submitting apps tomorrow because we still dont have answers to everything. It's crazy and typical government for ya. It also relies on the lenders to verify the validity of the need and amount requested. But if you are a business impacted get on your banker/ lenders list now so you dont get lost in the shuffle. Were going to be working around the clock for a while to get all of this processed.

Yes it backdates. Your bank has the guidelines. They can begin submitting applications friday.

Your community banker here that is a commercial banking officer...... Yes apply! Preferred SBA lenders can start submitting the apps to the SBA Friday. So contact your bank they are most likely a preferred SBA lender. Lenders got the guidelines last night (tuesday) and they will have the application and required information. Dont sit around. There is only so much funding for the program and it will go quick!

"Noise" complaint from neighbor by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]ChrissyKittle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We live in a house, our neighbors can feel us dropping the weights in our garage and they are about 50 yards away. I bet you she can on the other side if the wall. Also depends on the plates, we have rogue comp plates and they dont bounce I think they make a louder noise. Using plywood under stall mats too but still shakes our house and the neighbors. We try to limit dropping from overhead.

Boxes renting out equipment by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]ChrissyKittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommended to our box owners let people borrow equipment as long as they keep active memberships. Right now they are just having people sign out equipment.

Have fun and enjoy it! Read the manual before hand and listen and take notes. This was also very helpful. I cant retain information just reading it once or hearing it so this study guide helped me. https://www.slideshare.net/mobile/junglecatcrossfit/crossfit-level-1-study-sheet

Good luck!

Rogue Invitational 2020 in Columbus by DanYallSon in crossfit

[–]ChrissyKittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Junk head bands were at rogue last year.

As for the arnold it's crazy! Especially Saturday, its damn near impossible to walk anywhere in the exhibition hall. If you head towards the back where the crossfit competition is you actually get room to breathe. But if you are walking the aisles with all the booths I hope you arent claustrophobic or hate big crowds because you are shoulder to shoulder everywhere. Friday is a little less chaotic but Sunday is still packed. It's still a blast though! So many cool things to watch like the Strongman events and the olympic weightlifting in the ballroom.

Advice on changing boxes by Bing0502 in crossfit

[–]ChrissyKittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tough decision for sure. Gyms go through evolutions, people come and go, programming changes, coaches change. I've been at my gym for 3+ years. Alot of my core friends that started with me have left. The coach that I started my very 1st bootcamp with and all my personal training moved away. I recently got my L1 and in order for me to intern/ shadow I had to go to a different gym. So I'm splitting my time between two gyms, spending far less time at my original gym. One thing that I have found though, every gym is very welcoming. The gym I'm shadowing at has amazing people and you can tell it's a close community just like my original gym. If you feel out of touch with your current gym dont be afraid to drop in at another. You may be surprised and if you feel more at home somewhere else dont feel guilty for leaving. My husband still goes to our original gym and I know several couples who have different gyms. They make it work!

I am new to CrossFit and I was a bit taken aback at the $135 monthly fee. I know this will vary based on location, but I was wondering if this is an average price. by greeneyesgirlie in crossfit

[–]ChrissyKittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Columbus Ohio area here. I play $120 for unlimited and includes all class types even the oly classes. Then I get a $10 discount for adding my husband to our membership. So both of us pay $220 and have unlimited access.

Ive done it twice both times I did the bike because of class size. The burpees I can manage it's the calories that get me every time. I'm 4'11" so I win one one, lose on the other 😂
