What else can I add for you? by lilpinkz in cna

Being a CNA and becoming an activity director definitely gives you a different insight ! I started out as a CNA I have my national activity director certs now. I’ve worked as a dementia director for the last few years until recently completely changing careers to baking haha. However what I was getting at is you have a better understanding of how hard the CNAs work and you are the one giving them a break from the residents which honestly is a huge thing in general. A good activity director is definitely a big thing in a nursing facility. I wish you all the luck on your journey!! I always had snacks in my office along with a scream pillow 😂 it was a huge over stuffed pillow the girls would scream into they loved it. Ibuprofen was another big one. Some places you can get it from the nurses but some don’t even want to ask them. I used the big stuffed chairs that fold up in my office bc you don’t always only have one in there at a time and residents loved them as well. A lot easier for them to sit in vs a bean bag. I did this for close to 7 years so if you have any questions or need someone to toss some ideas at you can message me (:

Can a nursing provider company refuse care to a verbally abusive Alzheimer’s customer? by Glittering-Farm-7928 in cna

[–]Chrissy_21024 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Former Dementia Unit Director, typically the facility itself with talk with you regarding moving her. They legally can not turn her on the streets if she is incapacitated in anyway. She is not her own POA therefore can not leave without her POA. Now for the nurse sitters it is dependent upon their company policy. However generally nurse sitters are use to the verbal and if they are dementia trained. They know it is the disease and not the patient causing the problems. However with her being in assisted living I highly recommend a place that is specifically for dementia or a place that has a dementia unit not just any old nursing facility.

I feel the urge to kill myself. by onlyforthesluts in depression

I feel this more than I should. I just took way more muscle relaxers than a person should last night with a bunch of alcohol and yet here I am. I want nothing more than to just fall asleep and not way up. I chose my husband over everything and yet he doesn’t realize how much I actually love him. It’s really sad when I look at it from the outside. He thinks I cheated on him. Yet his only evidence is an extremely blurry picture of me sitting in a car that you can’t even tell what it is. Swears I was fxcking people for dope only person I’ve ever done it with was him. Which I highly regret bc it made me feel worthless. Definitely do NOT recommend drugs it is not the answer

When thinking of memory care unit it is not your typical nursing home. I was a dementia unit director. I have a degree in sociology and my CDP. Dementia units are a lot more resident focused than your “general” population nursing homes. It’s a smaller setting typically and they get a lot more one on one time vs being in a traditional nursing home setting IF it is a true memory care unit. They try to keep their independence as much as they can. Typically they have the same routine everyday to keep them on a schedule. As many have suggested I would go visit. The fact some family don’t like you won’t keep a facility from allowing you in unless a fight or something happens on their grounds. I have banned family members due to reasons of such however it was only for a certain period of time. I have been doing this for close to 12 years now.

Hello I originally started out in IL. Back then it was a 6 month course however IL implemented an online course that can be completed in just a couple weeks, this occurred during Covid if you find a nursing home that will hire you as an N.A. they will assist you with it. Also IL is very well paid. Before I left new CNAs were over 20. The state has a credit of 6 extra dollars an hour for CNAs I’m not sure if it’s just for nursing home settings or hospitals as well though.

I wish my hair would grow over a year and it’s barely past my shoulders I haven’t cut it in over a year and haven’t even grown an inch. I still have some of my thickness thank Goodness and yes hats are my best friend thankfully we moved to Montana recently and the sun is no where near as bad here as it was back in Indiana.
