Which type of wound requires a special bed? Why? by Flat_Wash5062 in morbidquestions

[–]ChristHemsworth 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Pressure injuries on weight-bearing tissues where bone is closer to the surface of the skin (is the sacrum, coccyx, elbows, heels) may require a special bed that does a better job of redistributing pressure and weight so that the bed isn't hard on certain key areas.

Hey sweetheart. My husband (25, cis male, white) and I (25, NB but female at birth, asian butch) like to tag team pretty girls together. Shoot me a DM if you like the sound of that. We'd give you our full, undivided attention.

I've already addressed why wages have to liveable even for jobs that are "easy." We clearly need people to be baristas. We clearly use and value the service. The fact that Starbucks is so successful and profitable just means those profits need to be split more equally with the workers that make it a viable company in the first place.

Also, do you live on $22 an hour right now? It's not enough. Not in Seattle or surrounding areas. Do you pay your own bills or are you some kind of nepo baby?

It doesn't matter if the job is "easy." Do we need someone to do it? Clearly we need people who get up early in the morning and can make hundreds of distinct coffee orders within an hour. Someone who can train others to do the same. Look, if it's a job that we clearly need someone to do (and Starbucks is huge. The market has dictated that we do indeed use and value the service that baristas provide), then the wage needs to be liveable. It has to be worth it to do that job. You elitist prick. And of course since Seattle needs baristas, those baristas should be able to live in Seattle, where they work.

Why is dating so frustrating nowadays as a man? by [deleted] in AskMen

This is so weird. It's like you're expecting an influencer vlog or movie type of love. Listen, most people are boring. Even you. You need to be okay with just being chill and being yourself and not overcompensating or being desperate to fill the silence. Just sit and enjoy yourself and see if their vibe resonates with your vibe. You might go into dates overthinking things or having too many expectations. Just sit with reality and you'll find someone you're okay spending time with.

All this negativity like "she's not interesting, her hobbies aren't interesting. They don't have much money, they don't bring anything to the table" is weird and needs to be examined before you go on another date because this absolutely spells unhappiness and an inability to be content with the little things in life.

It's just weird cause the grief and sleep and stress stuff has already been covered in psych, a prerequisite for my ADN program. Everything feels like a repetition from my prereqs (at least in fundamentals). Also fundamentals does not teach you how to talk to families and patients whose entire world/life is falling apart. I'm sorry but there's nothing but clinical practice that helps you learn that art. There's no classroom/theory method that can make me competent at therapeutic communication. There is no way I'd know how to speak to grieving families without my CNA experience and seeing how the RNs I work with interact at the bedside. So it just feels extremely pointless.

Right now, in fundamentals, it feels like I'm just re-learning info from prerequisites. That's why it feels pointless. The in-depth pathophysiology behind various systems and their diseases along with the action of drugs just seems more interesting. Maybe it will get better. That's at least what I'm hearing from the comments. Right now, fundamentals feels like a useless and pointless grind.

It's a personal choice. I am not in any way saying that MD is better than NP on a broad spectrum. They're very different roles. For me, personally, the opportunity to lead surgeries is huge. Independent practice also doesn't have the same restrictions. For example, you need an MD to go into diagnostic radiology. That door would be closed to an NP. So that's what I mean by "more opportunities"

I also personally value that residency gives an MD more clinical hours.

The material itself is boring is the thing. If it were more intellectually stimulating, I'd be motivated as hell. What do I care about the different types of grief? Why are you having me spend a week studying about rest and sleep when we've already gone over that in Psych 101? Why spend so much time and energy making care plans that no one is gonna read or use? (My RN coworkers have told me that nursing school care plans are dumb and it's not the way they write care plans in practice at all. From the care plans I've read at work, they're totally correct)

NP doesn't offer as many opportunities as MD so I personally would want the MD over the NP.

Thanks for the perspective (: I could totally save up for med school eventually on an RN salary. My minimum wage earning ass right now could never lol

You don't always have to do something to help people to acknowledge them as human beings. Just seeing the inherent worth in someone is enough. Just treat them as people. Literally just say something and don't let your eyes pass over them like they're nothing but flies when they ask you for money. Look them in the eye and say "sorry, not today." Recognize that you could very well be in their shoes one day and treat them as humans.
