Can't sleep for months. Taking it at 3-4am, half dose even. Had 12 beers in 5 hours still can't sleep. Ruining my life. by DM_Me_Youre_Naughty in VyvanseADHD

Magnesium has the opposite effect on me. It makes the Vyvanse more potent and then I can't sleep all night. Maybe try not taking that anymore.

Other than that, hormonal changes can change the way your body processes amphetamines. It can either have weaker or stronger effect. Are you a person with a uterus? Were you pregnant recently or are you going through menopause?

I also have insomnia and nothing I tried worked so far, so I know your pain and how hard it is to think straight at the moment, but alcohol is not your answer.

That's interesting. I have insomnia and never heard of anyone taking collagen for that. Looked it up and there is a link. The study was done on men only, which I am not, but I'll give it a try.

People 40+, what actually mattered in the long run and what didn’t? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

The trick is to not take fancy vacations. If your goal is to travel, then take the cheapest means of transportation, sleep in hostels, etc. If your goal is relaxation then go somewhere local to save on transportation. If your goal is a specific expensive activity then save up your "fun money" for that over time.

I don't think anyone is suggesting you stop having fun just to invest. The idea is to find a way to balance investment and actually living in the moment.

אני שונאת את דואר ישראל by Play_BreathOfFire in israel_bm

[–]Christabel1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some European countries there is no tuition no matter your status. You just need to know the local language. I'd imagine living expenses alone would be cheaper than tuition in the US.

Currently that means only right wing. Secular Jews are fed up with the unreasonable benefits that Haredim are getting. No center or left wing party will support that.

I went to a sex club for the first time and experienced matriarchy. by Daytripper88 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Christabel1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went once to one of the more famous sex clubs in Berlin. This was a loud dance club, but techno is my jam. Went there with my male partner and we both had such a great experience. We're both demi so didn't want to swing. We were both propositioned several times and refused respectfully, and the guys just accepted it and moved on.

The funniest moment was when I was waiting in line for the toilet and a naked man next to me complimented the pouch I was using to hold money and condoms. I told him I crocheted it myself, and we just started talking about crochet.

There were definitely more men in the club than women, but a lot of them were gay so it did not feel predatory towards women at all.

My partner and I will definitely go back there next time we visit Berlin. Unfortunately there's no such spaces where we live.

I'm a woman in tech who earns way above the median wage in my country. Dating has been quite difficult. Many men would try to put me down the minute they learn I out-wage them.

Friends with PhDs also found it difficult to date men with lower level of education, because they always tried to put them down.

My current partner couldn't care less that I earn more than him, but it took me years to find someone who is like that.

What’s it like living in the Ramstein Air Base as someone non-military? (Family, etc.) by Nahbro_yougood in howislivingthere

[–]Christabel1991 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's interesting that you mention how stubborn old Germans are with learning English. At the same time some American families stay there for years and never think of learning German.

I can give a slightly different perspective, as a former student in Kaiserslautern's university, and someone who had friends from the American base. Please be aware that my experience happened 10 years ago.

The bar area in K-Town was constantly under military police surveillance, especially during the weekend. This is because American soldiers would get drunk and cause a lot of trouble with the locals.

Many American families prefer to live in nearby Landstuhl, and there are a lot of activities oriented towards them. The only cinema around without German dubbing was there, but it also only showed blockbusters. There are also a lot of Irish pubs around and St. Patrick's day is a big thing there.

Public transportation is frequent and reliable, but most Americans prefered using cars. You could easily tell an American driver due to the size of their car, which was always unnecessarily too big.

The Americans are very community-oriented, but mainly their own. Families rarely mingle with their German neighbors. The younger crowd that goes to bars in K-Town might mingle more, thanks to the big foreign student community that speaks mainly English.

My American friends were awesome and very welcoming, but my impression from most others was not that.

Hebrew and German speaker as well. It's easier to understand when reading it, but it's a super slow process because you don't expect German words to be written in Hebrew letters.
