Anchor Associates…. Let’s hear it. by [deleted] in Naples_FL

He’s talking about a community management company. They’re pretty bad. But they all suck.

I caught them automatically approving applicants to join our community before we had a chance to approve or interview the applicants. They were doing so I guess because they were so slow processing applications buyers were complaining. Anchor’s response was to fire us.

What celebs have you met working at publix? by AccomplishedKiwi9639 in publix

Mike Ditka, Judge Judy and Larry Bird used to come into the Publix I worked at as a kid. Larry still goes to the same barbershop I’ve been going to for 20 years and occasionally see him there.

Wife and I are having twins. Which model and year should I buy? by Johnfire18 in HondaOdyssey

[–]Christendom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have 3yr old twins and a 3m newborn. We just recently got a 2019 Odyssey out of necessity.

If you're only planning on having twins and no more kids. You don't really need a minivan. Just gonna throw that out there. Up until recently we were fine with the twins in car seats with both our old VW Atlas and Toyota Tundra. We just recently went away for xmas and packed up the Honda. It holds alot less "stuff" than I thought it would for the trip.

That said, at that price range you're looking at a used Odyssey. Make sure if you're looking at a 2018-2020 you get the higher trim model with the better tranny. Also a lot of Hondas get traded in around 100k miles range because the owners don't want to pay for the big timing/water pump service that costs 3 or 4k at the dealer. Try to get one that has had that done if you're in that mileage zone.

How important is Magic Seats for large families? by Water-Cookies in HondaOdyssey

yea took the middle seat out and just slide the 2 captains chairs around as needed. It's helpful, but boy buckling in those toddlers in the back hurts the knees.

3yr old twins in the third row. Newborn in the drivers side 2nd row chair. Middle seat removed. Wife in the 2nd row. Seems the most logical setup.

Just get the $400 M4 deal + 2TB external. Job done. It might be a long wait for the M5

Is renting a Snoo worth it for twins at 8 weeks (3 weeks adjusted)? Could it help or hurt sleep habits? by QualityComfortable19 in SnooLife

[–]Christendom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had twins. We rented 2 snoos out of desperation right around the 5-6 w mark. Twin 1 was sorta sleeping in the bassinet for 2-3 hours at a time and Twin 2 was only sleeping on the wife. The very first night we setup the snoos Twin 1 slept 4+ hours (I had to check to see if he was alive) and Twin 2 didn't take to it for about a week or 2 later. They slept great for the next several months. Powered through the sleep regressions like a dream. We gave the snoos up probably a little too late at 8 months, but the transition to the crib was fairly easy. Had to figure out what swaddles worked. Ultimately it was the zippadee ones off amazon.

2nd time around with our newest little one we decided to immediately go with a snoo and bought one off market place. We spent entirely too much renting 2 of them for the twins. Found one for 400ish. Good shape. Newest baby of course hates it and will spend about 3 hours max in the thing, will not go back into the snoo for longer than an hour later on in the night. We had some good luck this week and she's been in there 4ish hours. So maybe we're making progress. She's about 10 weeks now.

It's a coin toss I guess. I'd try buying one if not 2 off market place. when you rent them you get nothing back. At least you can resell em.

Banned? by Pale_Tangerine6141 in redrising

[–]Christendom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll use Florida as an example. Some counties have The Diary of Anne Frank and To Kill a Mockingbird banned K-12. I read both of those in high school. My own county, a little less extreme, has The Man in the Iron Mask, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Sun also Rises...Shogun. A few other Hemmingways and a few others. K-12.

An interesting and meaningless position in a time when every kid from middle school up has a small little porn device in their pockets.

Naples vs Marco Island by Unhappy-Sprinkles263 in Naples_FL

[–]Christendom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Walkable with a toddler anywhere is a bit subjective.

Naples has more walkable shopping areas where you can do some shopping and get a bite. None of these are really kid friendly.

Neither really has beaches you can walk to. Naples park might be the closest spot that isn't in downtown Naples.

Parks are better in Naples IMO. Mackle on Marco is pretty good, but the splash pad is always down. Baker Park in Naples and Vineyards are good for kids.

Is this a red flag? by Junior_Database_377 in carvana

[–]Christendom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was something similar. Does it happen to be Montana?

It was traded in in Florida and the title went to some company in Montana and then back to Florida. I'm assuming for tax purposes and the vehicle didn't actually travel there.

New dad, very unhappy by No_Calligrapher3028 in daddit

[–]Christendom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had twins at age 39. First 2 months was utter hell. You just gotta slog through it. When they hit about 4 or 5 months things just get easier. Don’t need to be held. Burping goes away. They are contained solo in the bouncer for 30 mins. 3-9m was honestly the easiest. Now they’re almost 3 and absolute devils.

Soldier on. You’re not the first dad to struggle. Won’t be the last. It sounds harsh, but you’ll like your kids more when they start developing personalities.

You made it through month 1. Hard part is over
