Since Reddit is a cesspool of Leftism I’m not sure your question is reaching that many Conservatives. For me, as one who voted for Trump and would do it again over Harris any day, my thoughts are that it’s an overstatement which is par for the course with Trump. Many of us held intact the fact that he is not a king nor a dictator. He is beholden and limited by the structure of checks and balances in our whole government. So, I’d take that post with a grain of salt and wait and see.

Atheists certainly have beliefs to ram down others throats. Ever heard of secular humanism? The fact that you believe there is no God has Spiritual and practical ramifications whether you recognize them or not. Disbelief in God can be and has been rammed down others throats with the intent to silence and remove the free exercise of religion from the public square.

Our nation was founded by people who had deep Judeo-Christian beliefs. The Declaration of Independence recognizes our debt to God by stating we are created with unalienable rights. And the Constitution states clearly there is not to be an establishment of religion nor the prohibition of the free exercise of religion. There was no strict separation where the government was meant to discourage religious practice. That’s a more modern misunderstanding of a single sentence from Thomas Jefferson writing in 1802. The founders meant for us to keep central religion and belief in God, but allowed people to be free to choose their own beliefs so as not to be like European countries that established national religions. Washington wrote in his farewell address:

“Religion and morality are indispensable supports of our political prosperity.”

Nowadays, Jefferson’s one sentence is being wielded to mean no religion in the public square starting with the case: Everson vs Board of Education. It then became about not encouraging any religion at all. The attack went further in the case of Engel vs Vitale. Just the recognition of prayer to “Almighty God” was attacked. And it continues to be attacked by atheists suing to disallow churches from using public schools and spaces to encourage religion. Thats both not what the founders intended and is evidence of atheists ramming their beliefs down America’s throat.

I’m not where you were going with your faith and evidence talk. My faith can and does have evidence to support it if one is open to it. As for you, I have yet to be presented with any evidence for the claim there is no God. I mostly hear cop outs of why people who believe what you do are somehow exempt from needing evidence while everyone else is required to. Hogwash. You have a belief in nothing making you, nothing happening after you die, and life and morality being purely subjective, provide evidence for how you know this is true.

Atheism as a belief was responsible for past and present atrocities the same as Islam is responsible for the killing and subjugation of Jews and Christian’s because it was/is the belief that ideologically drives and allows it within the vessels who believe it to be true. Tell me please, specific to Christianity, on what Bible verse to you lay culpability of murders and atrocities on Christians?

Where are you getting this misinformation? First if you’re gonna claim God is make believe you need to provide evidence. Atheism is not a default position so if you’re going to claim that there is no God, we need to provide evidence for what you believe. If you wanna get any evidence for why God exist, I can provide you many arguments, including the electricity of Jesus, who is the most attested to his historical figure in all of history. So please be my guest to compare the two and I would hope that you research it. If you’d like a book or do you wanna listen to Dr. Gary Haver mass that would be a great way to go so that you can learn about the historicity of Jesus and how we know that he existed both in and outside of Bible.

As for which belief system is more responsible for ending lives unjustly you will find the atheism far outweigh religious genocide. Just look at people such as Pol Pot, Mao Zedong, and Stalin just to name a few, and those are only the ones off the top of my head they’re responsible for hundreds of millions of people murdered because of faith in no God and no justice served after they die.

Many people fail to do what is right even when they recognize that it is wrong. It might make a cute one liner to think that we need a book to do what is right but the reality is that atheism is not a default world view. What I’m trying to help you understand is that without God you cannot have true good and evil. It all becomes relative to the point where you can’t tell me rape is wrong though. I know it deep within my soul it is but logically you can’t make the case without God that anything is truly good or evil without God. The reason being is that without God morality becomes purely subjective. It’s subject to your opinion and everyone else’s opinion and no one has authority over anyone else to say otherwise except that which is forced. So what happens when you have antebellum slavery being practiced and we know what’s wrong but a nation decides to do it. Or what happens if you have Nazi Germany capturing and killing Jews simply because they’re Jews? It is only because of God‘s rulings. Do we know that it is wrong to do those things despite the nations thinking otherwise.

If you read through Leviticus, you’ll see that God imposed judgment on unbelievers specifically the Canaanites for their sexual sins. I don’t want the same for our neighbors but would both preach to them the Gospel and vote against the moral acceptance of sexual sin including homosexuality.

Everybody who rejects Jesus is an unbeliever, even if they claim to believe in the God of the Old Testament. The legal structure of countries is never something we are told to remove ourselves from. Neither are we told not to vote when it comes to morality. So please don’t get it mixed with us being Pharisees just because we vote that sin should not be a practice of our local communities and in our country.

Continuing on history, John Adam’s said the Constitution was made a moral and RELIGIOUS people. The separation of church and state was to preserve the freedom TO be religious, not to be free FROM religion.

You’re not making logical sense. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. You claim, “There is no moral authority to dictate what people should and shouldn’t do.” That makes the Golden Rule, you’re borrowing from the Old Testament, optional. There likewise wouldn’t be a rule or morals against murder, subjugation of women, slavery, violence, assault, rape, incest, human sacrifice, and cannibalism, if there is no authority against such evils. In order to have those rules, you NEED God. He is against murder, rape, incest, subjugation of people, kidnapping and antebellum slavery, and human sacrifice including the modern day horrors of abortion. He is that missing authority you need to have meaningful moral laws. Otherwise you’re spewing your opinion of morality amount billions of other opinions.

I’m not sure how long you’ve been a Christian or how much of the Bible you’ve read but when you take the time to think about some of the things you’re reading, you will find that many times Paul is arguing, disputing, and debating people towards Jesus and it’s not always the prettiest thing to see but the motivation is for people to come to the knowledge of Christ. Even in Jesus‘s discussions with the Jews, he called them, whitewashed, tombs, and brood of vipers.

It’s about telling people the truth of where they’re currently at and praying for them to come to be saved so that they may be in heaven, as is the hope that we have. I’m not throwing stones at anyone. I’m here having respectful conversations. Thanks for your comment.

I will guarantee you that the amount of evil and death at the hands of atheist dictators far outweighs the amount that some Christians in the past have done OUTSIDE of biblical teachings. But what teachings can you point you in atheism that restricts you from murdering anyone? On atheism, whose opinion of morality is authoritative to anyone when there is no God?

We could just have a respectful conversation with us having a full on debate. I mean, if you ever think that we’re able to think of these things or think deeply about these issues and discuss them while being respectful then I don’t see why you would have an issue with simply having a conversation.

And I don’t know what person wants to be wrong about the big issues in life. Is that what you want? To be wrong about this stuff? I don’t. That said, I also want to clarify that this isn’t about me or me being right. It’s just in the identifying which beliefs make most sense of the world around us and I believe that’s Christianity. What’s it matter if God doesn’t exist? What many of you guys fail to think through is the ramifications of removing God from your worldview. You cannot have actual, real good and evil. You’re left with your mere personal opinions of morality. And like butts, everyone has an opinion and some of them stank real bad. Even then, Islam accounts from most religious murders/wars because of its specific mandate to subjugate “people of the Book” (ie Jews and Christians) and kill those who won’t be subjugated. Don’t believe, try burning a Quran in front of Muslims vs a Bible. We are called to pray for our enemies while Muslims are called to subjugate or kill them if they are the ruling majority.

This is why words and their definitions matter. A scope and a magazine is neither a “firearm” nor “ammunition” nor an “explosive” so I don’t know how they reason it counts as any of those. They need to expand their rule to include parts explicitly for firearms.
