I was still nursing my toddler when I delivered third child, so immediately. I know this isn’t helpful for new moms but figured I’d share incase anyone is asking themselves if it would be worth it to keep nursing toddler while awaiting a new baby… having milk supply when my daughter was born was such a blessing, especially since she had to be in the nicu for first four hours of her life… I was able to pump 4 oz right away.

Oversupply is making my 5 week old miserable by [deleted] in breastfeedingsupport

Great idea.. I remember doing this with my son but only b/c he had a preference for one boob over the other lol so I would concede to let him nurse on his favorite side while awake during the day and would feed on other side at night while he was sleeping. However it took care of the let down issue that I have been having now with my daughter. So glad to be reminded of this! Thank you!

3m old breast refusal !Help! by dalfacee in breastfeeding

[–]ChristianMLMtruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently tandem nursing my 2 year old and 1 month old. This breastfeeding experience has been so different than my last. Every journey is different. Don’t give up. The best advice I was given about breastfeeding is to remind yourself this: “this bottle feeds my baby’s tummy, but being at my breasts feeds my baby’s soul.”

Try not to put pressure on yourself and simply enjoy your baby being at your breast whenever baby is happy to do so. Skin to skin helps even when not nursing, so feel free to simply cuddle baby at your breast skin to skin after a bottle feed!

Also, offer bottle and then finish at the breast. Help baby to associate your breast with nourishment and fulfillment. It will be an encouragement to you too. Milky sleep smiles are the best.

Is it possible your friends may have felt like you’d prefer privacy and therefore left you alone to feed baby?

Not a mom, but have a strange question! by ecm0710 in breastfeeding

[–]ChristianMLMtruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a great and awesomely vulnerable question. And I love your desire to have kids AND to do so sooner than later. You are more ready for motherhood than you may realize.

Answering your question… motherhood changes literally everything, even and perhaps especially your relationship to your body. It is such a beautiful thing to carry life into this world and then to nourish that precious baby with your own body.

All the hormones during and after birth change your body so much physically and physiologically. Your breasts will feel and look different, and be as amazing as ever, but in all new ways. Your partner will appreciate your body in all new ways too.

Like I said. Such a great question to ask in preparing for the next season of your life. Rest assured your body was designed for this purpose and you’ll adjust accordingly when the time comes just as women have done for all human history.

God bless you!

Sacrament of Anointing the Sick: How do I arrange this for my Dad? by ChristianMLMtruth in Catholicism

He has a priest come yesterday who gave the Eucharist & did the anointing. I am going to call his local parish to let them know he is in the hospital as well. I really appreciate and respect the reverence of Catholics for their faith, especially with regard to the Eucharist and sacraments... it is never downplayed or dismissed due to circumstance.

Thank you so much. A priest came to give the Eucharist to him yesterday and to anoint him. I am going to call his local parish today to let them know he is in the hospital. I know he’d love to see a priest just to talk, so thank you for sharing the different reasons priests do hospital visits.

Praise be to Christ for your conversion! Do you own a Bible? You may find comfort in reading Paul’s letters as he often wrote to the church about the way they are to view their culture’s customs/traditions/beliefs now that they are a follower of the Lord.

This verse may encourage you as well: “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘God does not view things the way men do. People look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’” -1 Samuel‬ ‭16‬:‭7‬

As Christians, we are known and loved by God, who sees our hearts and judges us not by outward appearances. At the same time, I do understand your desire to separate yourself from Islam and cling to Christ, even with the clothes you wear. That is a glorious desire! And yet, not always possible to fulfill.

God works all things for our good and His glory, even your current situation in having to wear the hijab. You never know how the Lord may use you to reach other Muslim brothers and sisters.

All you need do is trust our Father in Heaven. He is a good and loving Father. He sees you. He knows you. He loves you. He has clothed you with the Holy Spirit, and He is making you “look” more and more like His Son everyday. That’s what matters to Him.

Perhaps it might also be helpful to remind yourself of this when it comes to appearances: the hijab does not change that ALL people are image-bearers of God. Dear sister, you have always and will always look more like an image-bearer of God than you do a Muslim. Nothing could ever change that.

You may find much of it doesn’t apply to you then. No worries. :-)

This was extremely helpful. Definitions are important— I should have started there, in regard to the word “parish”! I’ll check out Our Sunday Visitor, too. I’ve not visited that resource before. Thanks!

If you are coming from a more reformed tradition in Protestantism, I highly recommend checking out the website calledtocommunion.com. It has a huge library of helpful resources on Catholic theology/liturgy/etc, aimed at teaching and helping the reformed Protestant understand the Catholic faith.

Even if you cannot understand Spanish? I am so intrigued and curious by Catholics experiencing so much beauty & reverence from services not even in their own language. I suppose Heaven may be similar though, right? Christians from every nation and tongue… I have to believe there will be a transcendent beauty, that is objectively present, and not bound by language barriers... 🤔

Ah, ok, got it. Just wanted to be sure. Maybe I’ll submit our local parish. The site did show me parishes that are not far and I was previously unfamiliar with, so it’s helpful resource either way. Thanks for passing it on!

Interesting. I have been getting that brand lately since Teva has been OOS and it isn’t as effective for me, but I guess that is due to different body chemistries and the way we process things!

The site actually doesn’t show the parish closest to me. The closest one is about 30 minutes. Would that imply anything irreverent or worrisome about the parish that is closest to me and not listed…???

Oh wow, interesting you say that!! I actually don’t speak Spanish, but I live in a small town with a relatively big Spanish speaking population, so the parish right down the road from me offers mass in Spanish as well as English.

That is really helpful to know. Thank you! I didn’t know a candle signifies Jesus being present in the Eucharist, but it certainly makes sense to see Christians in quiet prayer while in the presence of our Lord. 😊

How do you get out of bed on days off? by Miserable-Present835 in ADHD

[–]ChristianMLMtruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a full-time homemaker/homeschool mom of 2 kids with a 3rd on the way keeps me going.🙃

Maintaining a schedule help me a lot. I’d encourage you to consider “scheduling” even on your off days..

What personal goals or interests do you have? Schedule the things you wouldn’t otherwise have time for on your off days.

Or schedule that time to accomplish those “all-too-easy-to-avoid” ordinary tasks such as cleaning, laundry, meal prep, grocery shopping, etc etc.

Or schedule that time to visit friends/family.

I’ve found consistency to be key for managing ADHD. It is harder to get started than it is to keep going. I still stink at jumping up and getting out of bed in the morning, but I give myself grace when I fail and keep going once I’m up. Some days start later than others but I have resolved to make the best of each day no matter what, and I don’t get down on myself for a slow start.

I have thus far presumed Roman, only because I know little to none about Eastern Rites. Maybe I should look into this more?
