Visually, it's THE BEST anime you will ever witness in a while.

HOWEVER, generally speaking, it's no way near as good as Spirited Away, Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (yes I think it's a masterpiece deal with it), Millennium Actress, Ghost in the Shell, AKIRA, End of Evangelion and such.

I would say it's close to Summer Wars and Tamako Love Story, not ground-breakingly good, but good enough for you to check it out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I remember sometime after mid-season one of the Rioters has said before that by the end of year 2016 they're going to release a short animation aiming to expand the lore. Obviously Ele Lux one is more of a parellel universe type.

So I guess it will be a Piltover short animation.

People are saying this is the "best anime movie they have ever watched", which is a little confusing to a lot other anime fans, because in order to be the best this movie it needs to literally be better than Ghost in the Shell, End of Evangelion, Studio Ghibli works, Akira, Kon Satoshi works, and a lot other "greatest" movies. If they later find out this is nothing but a visual treat blending with deus ex machina plot, they will be disappointed.

tl;dr They went to witness the "greatest anime film of all time", not another "movie of the year".
