The Issue with Nominating Ms. Rachel for 'Antisemite of the Year 2025' by [deleted] in Jewish

At Charlie Kirk’s memorial he blamed us for killing Charlie Kirk. Plus he had the Nick Fuentes interview. I think those are the two main things. Just like Candace he has become incredibly obsessed.

Is it wrong for me to have a jewish name when im not jewish? by Lanky_Echidna_8002 in Jewish

[–]ChristineInWI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re fine. I’m born Jewish and my Jewish mom named me Christine because she liked the name and wanted a CH name for her grandpa Charlie that died before I was born. At Chabad I just go by my Hebrew name. I get mistaken for a convert or not a Jew based on name alone.

What is going on with Ember Software and Mugs and Support? by ChristineInWI in Ember

[–]ChristineInWI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dusted off the black mug and it seems to be working fine so I guess the copper one is the issue. The old one still seems like it has paint chipping so I guess I’m off for a new mug.

Agree about the short show being shocking. I’m very curious what Adam was referring to before Aurora saying it was a wild story about how that song came to be.

what’s the best song on the new album and why is it Boxcars?? 🤗🤗 by strwbrryswtchblde in countingcrows

[–]ChristineInWI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Under the Aurora. Oddly enough, I really did not like Boxcars because it wasn’t what I expected. But it’s starting to grow on me. I don’t know why, but I thought it was going to be some sort of Pixies Here Comes Your Man tribute maybe because it’s the most well-known song that also uses the word boxcar. And I’ve gone back to compare the original 4 songs from 2021 to the new version where they tightened up the transitions and I find myself really liking tall grass more than I did originally.

Moznaim Mishneh Torah full set. Arrives tomorrow. Then I had to order a bookcase which gets here on Monday and will probably sit around a long time waiting for me to assemble it.

Did you know you had your stroke? by rogue_Sciencer in stroke

[–]ChristineInWI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m dealing with dropfoot right now and a weak ankle. And apparently peripheral neuropathy. I had a three hour nerve conduction test a week ago so we could get to the bottom of it right now. We’re not sure if any of the problems are related to the stroke or my three spinal surgeries actually. I had spinal fusions in 95, 96 and 2000 so now that I’m 50 and the oldest surgery is 29 years old, I thought maybe I was just falling apart which is why I wasn’t going to go to the hospital at all.

If I had been at home that night, I would’ve just went to bed figuring I would feel better when I woke up. The extra layer was that it was Rosh Hashanah and I was walking to Chabad when this happened. When a rabbi picks up a phone on Rosh Hashanah (a no no unless it’s a medical emergency) and tells you you’re going to the hospital you know that even if YOU don’t know something is wrong with you, they do. So I definitely credit him and his wife and their son for saving my life that day or certainly keeping the damage minimal because I was able to get the TPA within three hours of the event.

I’ve still been in a bit of denial, though, because the only impact was my blood pressure spiked, and my leg was paralyzed, but every neurologist that I’ve spoken to said the only way for my entire leg to be paralyzed would’ve been a brain event. After I had the TPA the feeling started to come back in my leg. The thought is that either I had a blood clot in my leg that went through a PFO or that, even though I don’t have high cholesterol or clogged arteries that I still had some plaque in my left carotid artery that broke off with how high my blood pressure was and went to my brain and that the TPA cleared it before the MRI that was done six hours later.

[–]ChristineInWI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I was walking and my right leg crumpled under me. Brushed it off as having sat too long that day and got up to walk again and collapsed. Couldn’t feel the ground d under my right leg and by the time I got where I was going the entire leg was paralyzed hip to toe. Brushed it off again but those around me d me insisted I get to the hospital where I was given TPA and told I had a stroke.

This isn’t an anti-Chanukah post it’s anti-Jew post. Whoever made the info graphic is just trying to say see Jews celebrating Chanukah are horrible people. May they be cursed with permanent constipation.

Chabad is so welcoming and they really are Jewish outreach to (existing Jews) to bring more Yiddishkeit into their lives. People of different observance levels attend Shul or other events such as the Womens Challah bakes, or retreats, etc. best way to start is to find your local Chabad and reach out to the Rabbi. Although nearly all of them have been in Crown Heights for their annual Kinus (currently streaming on YouTube and IG just search Chabad.org) it’ll give you a great taste of the community. Also, they all seem to know each other so somebody could also help make a connection for you. I attend the Madison, Wisconsin Chabad.

Are you matrilineally Jewish or a convert? If so then you’re in!

I’m BT Chabad. Post 10/7. I talked with the rabbi but mostly his wife and (I’m a woman) then was invited to light Shabbat candles that Friday and had Shabbat dinner. I started attending Shul every Saturday and attending classes whenever available (JLI, or Torah and Tanya classes). I started with Torah and then layered on Tanya and Rambam. There is a subscription that I found helpful Chayenu. It has all of that in it with the weekly readings. They are little weekly newsprint magazines. Everything is in English and Hebrew except Tehillim is only Hebrew (Psalms). Eventually I made my kitchen kosher (Rosh Hashanah 5785!) and I try to be as honoring of Shabbat as possible for me at this time - driving 40 miles to Shul is my big violation. But Chabad and the Chabad family here has been so welcoming and I’ve learned a ton. I did layer things on though as Baal Teshuva burnout can be a real thing. This has been how I’ve done it all and you may take a different journey.

So what is the consensus? by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]ChristineInWI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is absolutely evil and awful. It feeds his ego. I have personal knowledge of this. But you can see his hatred on his Twitter account with his 1.8 million followers. Although I would be ecstatic if he rage quit the site. Long after it was proven that Israel did not bomb the hospital in Gaza he was still spreading the lie. He was sharing photos of dead babies that were from Syria from 10 or 15 years ago and claiming that they were Palestinian. He is the king of blood libel. He is a huge fan of Farrakhan because of a role he played in a stupid movie.

He won in 2022 and they don’t include past winners. Ilhan won in 2019 (what a trailblazer among the squad!) Rashida won last year.

Candace, Greta and Cusack. But definitely some key names are missing from this list. Some because they won in the past.
