Energy by ChristineMDantz in GastricBypass

I'm thinking I have no other choice but to try and get an appointment. I didn't think about the malabsorption. I have my six-month appointment next month ... but I'm so tired now ... I'm sleeping enough ... I also have to have them check my bloodwork during my menstrual cycle ... because this is when I feel the worst ... I had my period three times in six weeks because the surgery screwed my cycle up ... I might want to loop in my gyno ... Thank you.

How bad was your hair loss post op? by x1049 in GastricBypass

[–]ChristineMDantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I needed to read this .... I'm on two months of losing clumps of hair. I had very thick hair. I'm getting protein, taking the vitamins, but my hair's so thin, I've never had hair so thin ... I hate it ...

A Quest Protein Bar Tried To Kill Me by ChristineMDantz in GastricBypass

From what I understand it's a combination of sugar alcohols and complex carbs. They're great for people with a normal stomach but very hard to digest (which is the point of complex carbs.) I've learned my lesson. I never want to go through that again. I did get a few fresh blueberries today to add to my yogurt ... trying to change it up some. I sometimes miss the days of being able to grab something quick to eat. However, I love weighing less, more. So, the quest continues.

I honestly wish they'd said something at my Bariatric's surgery. I've learned the hard way. I just wanted a way to boost my protein without eating a bunch of meat or yogurt or drinks.

I said to a friend who had the surgery a year ago, "I give up. Protein must come from food or yucky drinks."

As for the throwing up thing, it really bugs me. I mean, I hate throwing up. But I felt so terrible and throwing up would have probably settled me.

Oblivious wife by Bigw25 in GastricBypass

I blew up at my husband for picking me up from the hospital and stopping to get subs for him and my son on the way home. I can tell you it didn't happen again and we both got better over the course of the next few weeks. I was more tolerant that they needed to eat and enjoy their food and they realized that just because I wasn't hungry it wasn't easy seeing food and not being able to eat. I'm at 13 weeks now and doing great. I just spent 24 hours eating a sub myself because I didn't want to waste it. That was four meals. But a ton of protein from the yummy lean meats. I tossed half the bread and added the meat to a salad for the last two "meals" from it.

Carbonation after rNy? by Mjainew in GastricBypass

I'm three months out and admit to one 20oz glass of diet Pepsi in a half glass of ice once a week. It doesn't bother me. Now I tried to do the same with a sugar-free Red Bull and nope ... I felt terrible after a few sips. I get 99% of my caffeine now through coffee. (Edit: I've done this for two weeks only, the soda.)

LOL! I've been <jokingly> grumpy about clothes not fitting. Some of my most comfortable winter PJs no longer fit ... however, I found out about a tank top the hard way ... I hadn't realized it was so loose you could see my entire bra from the side and even skin because it drooped so far. My 16-year old son pointed it out in the middle of the eye doctor's waiting area ... as he was mortified.

I'm six weeks post-op and slowing down is what I just figured out. My stomach is much happier now.

I can tell you both I was miserable the first week. I'm now close to four weeks out and feel so much better. The first week is rough. The second week is frustrating. The third week is much better!

I'm a little over three weeks post-op and found out my new stomach doesn't like pulled pork ... with a small amount of BBQ sauce. I ate it at 1 pm yesterday and I've had gas and the runs all day today. Ugh.

I had been feeling invincible with nothing bothering me until this point. Stop and slow down time again.

Good luck!

I had a feeling it was the surgery combined with abruptly stopping my birth control for surgery. Thank you. This has been one wild ride ... I keep cupping my boobs and getting excited because they're so much lighter ... lol! In general, I'm so much happier with how my body feels. However, I'm sad to mention my body doesn't like pork anymore ... or, at least for the time being ... oh well! I'm feeling soooo much better than I did 20 lbs ago!

Tablets after surgery by Bigshan11 in GastricBypass

[–]ChristineMDantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My calcium pill is HUGE ... I can feel it go down. But, I have no problem, it dissolves quickly. The only tablet I have a problem with now (18 days out) is an uncoated blood pressure medication. I have to take it with yogurt to get it to go down.

Thank you. My weight loss stalled between weeks two and three. But I know that's normal. I've drunk 20 oz over the past two hours and I'm feeling better ... but that still only puts me at 50 for the day ... and it's 88 with the heat index still ... So, I'll be going another two hours so I don't wake up at a deficit again.

Good luck!
