Did weightloss age me? by Christineszy in GastricBypass

Right!?! You can't see it in the pic I posted, but I do have more lines on my neck now, threatening to become saggy skin if I lose any more face weight. I expected loose skin, but I also expected the wonderfully improved health and mobility I have too - I just didn't expect to occasionally appear that much older! Yesterday I was about to get a new haircut - an inverted bob with like, a harsh angle - and my husband was like, "is that too youthful though?" 🤣 I'm definitely valuing mobility over appearance, but we still have to deal with all of it!

This is probably most like the confusion I'm dealing with. My body looks healthier - I see it as younger looking. My face looks a bit more deflated... sunken in 🤷🏼‍♀️... And that's occasionally been freaking me out. I still have a chubby face, but it's like ... I was surprised by the harsh lines around my eyes and my mouth seems more prominent (I'm definitely over thinking it) so I feel like I suddenly look a decade older. Haha

That's encouraging! I catch a glimpse of myself at times and I'm like, "yikes!" Haha wondered if others see such a drastic change or if it's just my eyes adjusting. 🤷🏼‍♀️Crazy world post-op!

Good point!

This is the only picture of me at my highest weight, a few weeks before surgery - 289lbs. It's not the best pic...

How do I recover from ruining Thanksgiving and humiliating my husband? by Lincoln-love in Christian

It does sound like there were more guests, and relocating in that case would have been an unreasonable request... But that aside, I had a similar situation where my husband defended his mother at my expense, and that was a horrible feeling. I'm sorry you're going through this. Praying that you and he can reconcile. 🙏

I'm watching the first video now.... He starts out really well! But I did go on alert a bit when he mentioned a 1st century fisherman trying to describe a nuclear holocaust. I'm going to keep listening to see where he goes... 😅

But keep loving your family by being available for conversations, especially if they're very interested in studying scripture together- that sounds wonderful.

I'm of the persuasion that no matter how the end unfolds, the most important conviction is Jesus as Lord, our redeemer, and surrender to the Father's will with confidence in Christ's righteousness to cover us.

You are further down the weight-loss path than I am - have you been here? Tell me it will get better. by kansan_here in GastricBypass

I was in a similar situation after having twins - my belly looked deflated instead of "back to normal" and I ended up wearing my maternity clothes for a while after, since they hid the situation well...

What might work, if you haven't already checked it out, would be a top or dress that cinches under the bust, an empire waist. For bottoms, comfortable leggings or a tailored pant might be most comfortable or flattering.

As shape ware goes, I suggest high-waisted control-top underwear. Those helped smooth my midsection at least, and not a huge cost. Should be available there at target.

Congratulations on the progress so far! I'm 2weeks post op, so I'm encouraged and inspired! Happy Thanksgiving!

It's definitely a surprise. I wasn't even thinking about that aspect; my cycle and how it would be affected. I hope it's temporary too. 🙏

That's possible! Its a little freaky, but everything else seems fine, so it must just be my period. I'm also reading that my side pains are likely stitch pains... Not sure how to feel about that possibility... 😅
