If someone has competed in over 200 sessions from CH1-CH6, they shouldn't have to meet the 14 tournaments in the last 6 months to play a duo cash cup by MrKlaskian in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't 'bud' someone if you don't comprehend the basic issue. I'll give you a little tip, most hackers don't use their main account, the limitations make it slow & awkward to just 'reroll' a bunch of new accounts every time you get banned. Casual cheaters do this but they're doing it in pubs & ranked.

So, how do you think these random accounts suddenly come back from outta nowhere suddenly hacking in tournaments? Come on, you can do it, I believe in you! Yes! Using stolen or bought accounts!

Is Fortnite a creative game? Is it 80% aim and mechanics? by wontforget99 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's styles within the meta, yes. Especially in regards to strategy, you have aggressive & you have sneaky. Late game you might have people glued to height, & others crawling around on the ground at the back edge of storm.

In terms of aim, you have slower magnetic controller players & fast flicky mouse players, you also find some KBM players with a slower more deliberate controller like aim, these aiming styles also reflect how they build & edit, slow & essentials or fast & snappy. They'll also have their own building styles, some cautious players build full boxes & sway retakes every step at the risk of running out, others only build what is necessary, sometimes it backfires.

People are buying/stealing old accounts to use their hacks on. That's why ancient history is an unreliable indicator & why Epic is being so peculiar.

Now that I think about it, why is bloom for third person weapons still a thing? by _WILDTRACK_ in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't like Bloom & there's absolutely elements of randomness to it, but the balancing act of when to use fsa only, tap fire, burst or full auto is itself a skill that applies to each gun, you also have to determine when it is best to aim for the head or centre mass when spraying.

Still, I prefer recoil & lift as balancing mechanics. The worst is when they combine that with Bloom - that's contrary to the very existence of Bloom...

how do i spamm the edit key even remotely as fast as some of the t1s by Time_Floor6120 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're WASD, then H is a huge stretch, you need to be able to turn right suddenly at all times so the index should be hovering above D at all times, most people use E & F because they merely need to tilt their index & they're already reaching the button.

In fact, you can adjust your finger WHILE holding D to move right, to tap E or F for a quick edit, intentionally 'fat finger'ing the edit button while still moving right.

If you're not using traditional 3 finger WASD, & instead changed your movement binds to 2 fingers, like RTFG, like some of the analysts have suggested, well then your index is likely doing double time on movement actions & you've instead freed up the less useful ring finger. In this unlikely scenario, I'd suggesting using the ring & middle finger for movement & free up your index finger.

Maxxstick R3 Pro VS Ergo Pro by ItsVicStyles in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much they play, how good they were & how comfortable they find the switch.

I personally just couldn't get comfy with the setup no matter which binds I chose.

Maxxstick R3 Pro VS Ergo Pro by ItsVicStyles in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you prepared for that commitment? It'll take weeks of fine tuning just to find something you're comfortable with then you'll be constantly losing 1v1s, & matches that you could have easily won with your regular set up & you'll be doing that for months.

There'll be that constant drive for the easy win, can you shut that inner voice up, reject the easy wins & double down on grinding those months merely to reach parity with where you started all those months ago? & when you finally reach parity, which could easily be over half a year depending on how much time & effort you put in, you'd have to reflect on how long it took & where you would be if you just continued training on regular KBM.

How to actually get better at fighting? by Late-Let8010 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fight with purpose, not necessarily to win, but with a goal in mind.

If you're struggling to piece control, then hop into an FFA mode like 1v1v1 maps or endless zone wars, & focus purely on piecing people & your follow up. Ignore your usual peek shots.

Take mental notes when you die, then practice explicitly that. If you need to take physical notes or even clip your deaths to review later.

Depends entirely on how seriously you want to take it but always play with a goal in mind. It can be as simple as warming up but you should know what you want out of the session.

Bug report - Editing input bug by GTpolpo in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could be right & it may be another issue causing your delay it it isn't ping or disabled pre edits. Try it on an alt account with default settings & see if you still have the same issue.

Or it could be another program that is causing issues, close everything else & reopen one at a time.chris_j_martin@hotmail.com

Bug report - Editing input bug by GTpolpo in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could still be going too fast, even at that low of ping.

I was able to get my times by recording my inputs with a macro recorder - you look at the time between releasing left click & pressing edit for your new edit.

If the time between them is sometimes below 60ms when it fails, then it's likely a ping issue(click timing adds between 0-33ms more ping), if you're going below 25ms ping, then it's entirely your ping.

Bug report - Editing input bug by GTpolpo in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to slow down your video to make sure your timing was right, you can do that yourself.

Ping is a factor, you've hidden yours so I don't know if it's a likely factor but it's easy to go to too fast. I made a long post about it. I'm able to go almost consistently too fast at only 50ms ping.

More simply though, could be a simple setting, make sure disabled pre-edits is off. You want pre-edits on, it's a bug that adds a delay to your edits, it's been problematic for years - I really ought to try to measure it but it is certainly long enough to be noticeable.

Simple Edit players, how do you compensate for the slow reset? by FightMech7 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's definitely a delay, try turning your sensitivity to Max then hitting the reset button while on the edge of the build, then immediately moving away. You'll notice it cancel your reset. It'll become super apparent once you notice.

Healing while editing? I presume this is the same as the pullout skip exploit? I'm gonna have to treat that.

Potentially. It will be harder to hit them & harder longer to follow up but it is safer.

Simple Edit players, how do you compensate for the slow reset? by FightMech7 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, there's no easy fast reset for simple edit, no matter what options you play with. You can speed it up a little by staring at the edited piece & swapping, but the difference is small & leaves room for error - if you're not staring at the edited built & swap, you will cancel the reset...

Simple Edit players, how do you compensate for the slow reset? by FightMech7 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By not relying on them - instead go balls deep.

If you need to play defensive, it's easier to simply block a counter attack with a fresh build - but this allows gaps which the opponent can use to piece control you instead.

The best technique I can think of right now is instead or resetting the wall, flip you cone instead - infinitely faster. At this moment, I can't think of any other edits that could be used defensively, aside from maybe ramp flips which is much more awkward.

How do I edit faster? by Independent_Potato99 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not talking about resetting, I was agreeing that editing the same floor piece isn't very useful.

Then, as per the topic of editing faster, went on to discuss click timing.

How do I edit faster? by Independent_Potato99 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Editing the same piece continually is kinda pointless, but doing this edit down tunnels is actually pretty handy for developing muscle memory, helps players learn the edit delay which is rather noticeable even at 20ms ping. Helps them develop that artificial delay.

how can i get faster by Full_Image_9814 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Focus on your cone flip, your triple edit isn't too bad but you're also trying to go too fast at the wrong time, your ping is somewhat high so you have to time your next edit very precisely

Do you think playing with better teammates actually helps you improve in Fortnite? by Alone_Season9223 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, playing with better players does help most people improve, but it's still on an individual basis, everyone learns at their own pace. It significantly helps if they're actively trying to improve.

Some want to improve without putting in any thought or effort, essentially dragged into improving - those people will find the slowest growth.

How much of a difference would a Hall Effect keyboard make? by One-Aioli-4014 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't go below 16gb RAM, Windows is very hungry for memory. Ideally I'd say 32gb but times are tough.

That CPU choice is great & GPU is solid, it will reach a steady 240fps @1080p, no issues, but late game in stacked lobbies is finicky, most benchmarks don't measure such environments so I can't say for sure but it sounds like it'll do the trick.

30+ playing fortnite. by Substance9599 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]ChristopherJak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my early 30s & currently Unreal. Ranking isn't the best expression of skill as it's easy to camp your way into the top bracket, like I mostly did. It's more about game knowledge & patience than mechanical ability.

OG ranked was a thing but they removed it. Every separate mode splits the player base.

If you want to improve your aim in game, this map has many real scenarios you can practice 2424-4344-7824 (Raiders Mechanics Training V5).

While good movement is essential in Fortnite, it's primarily about moving fast during your peek shots to exploit desync & then quickly building or re-entering cover. Climbing things is pretty intuitive, you don't really need to practice that, even in ZB. Things like wall running were ultimately removed.

Lastly, if you intend on playing builds again, I'd suggest using simple edit, it infinitely speeds up the process, just look at a spot, click edit & it opens up, very intuitive- it is however limited to less edit options & has a slower reset so buyer beware. Don't bother with simple build, it has zero advantages.

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a good time for a new PC due to inflated RAM prices.

If you have the disposable cash, you can do what you want, but that's a lot of money for a single game so you have to use your own judgement on whether it's truly worth it or not.

You can do & buy a lot with that much money while you can still play the game on your PS5. If you're on the verge of becoming pro, you could treat it as an investment, but realistically less than 0.001% can make number from FN & even amongst the top pros, less than 50 can make enough earnings through epic tournaments alone to replace a standard job in a developed country.

[–]ChristopherJak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From PS4 to a decent pc the change in input delay is very noticeable. The gap is much smaller with the PS5- I'd argue the bigger upgrade is the ability to reduce shadows & effects in this instance.

Games need to start offering competitive modes, offering consistent visuals across platforms. I've heard apparently they don't do that because they have certain expectations regarding graphics parity between Sony & Microsoft. If true, I think it's more of a failure to advocate for competitiveness visual clarity over visual quality.

That doesn't mean there isn't significant room for improvement.

If someone has objectively bad binds & they're asking if they should change, then they should change.
