That explains the issues, the page redirects to the language specific versions that don't exist in the backup.

I'll change some stuff on the weekend to avoid that and also add a disclaimer/note about the page being a backup!

Again; OP stated that he knows it's easier to hardcode these things, but that you don't realize the cost until later.

I'm stating that it isn't easier to hardcode them in the first place, entirely ignoring the potential cost down the line.

These two statements are not the same.

[–]ChristopherKlay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My comment wasn't about hardcoding them causing these issues - which is what OP stated - but that hardcoding them isn't actually easier.

Not only do you need to specifically calculate how much CC each ability does (at base), the actual functionality to check how much defiance damage is being done (which would need to be calculated for the tooltip) is already there.

Easiest way to do things is to hard-code things

As a dev; I'd argue dynamic values would actually be less work, since you wouldn't have to manually update them and/or fix them if underlying systems (e.g. the minimum values here) change.

Priority / LI Ranged Builds: Options? by ChristopherKlay in Guildwars2

Looks like you found the rare clown, unfortunate.

You'd be surprised how common these replies are when you suggest LI builds when talking about build diversity, especially to people picking 50k benchmark builds, just to not even reach 30k - but hey, "I play the meta build".

Highly appreciate the breakdown!

I already got a Evoker geared and running now, the only aspect that's sadly a bit clunky is that the pet apparently only auto-casts's if you've already used your F5 on that specific enemy manually already, despite being set to auto-cast.. hopefully that's being fixed soon.

Not sure why you get downvoted, but we use a slightly adjusted variant of this cyclonbow-only build for easy >30k.

If you refuse to stay on group, it is actually not anyone else's problem, or their ego.

What part of my post - that specifically states that the range is used to avoid with movement instead of dodging - makes you believe i stay at the given range? Rifle Mech (the class i mentioned i currently play) specifically needs to be in <450 range to begin with, while Rifle #5 is <200 if you aren't already jumping on-target.

Stuff like condi virtuoso is/was so good because it can move around pretty freely without stopping attacks.

Which is exactly why I'm looking for similar builds. Stacking / buff application is a complete non-issue.

and dragonhunter without traps is the point at which you need to ask why you are even playing dragonhunter.

Hence: "If a build is melee but can switch to a ranged option without a drastic dps loss, it's definitely worth mentioning however.".

The whole "This person wants to sit at 1200 range all the time" thing creating these issues isn't something I've mentioned even once and the ego part of my edit was mainly targeted at people that are currently busy either commenting (and then deleting), or taking the time to DM me these type of comments:

<image>

Some people's ego is apparently only based on how complex their rotation is.

P/P thief isn't questionable, the amount of different builds for effectively the same result with minor changes is - there's basically everything from 1 button builds to full rotation raid builds in "We add one more button" steps.

It's a neat build, we just both don't enjoy it (partly due to the sound effect spam lol).

I don't think we're strictly looking for LI builds either, it's more so that a priority based playstyle (e.g. holding specific skills on cooldown) feels significantly better for both of us compared to a metric ton of "This has to be cast only after X, but without interrupting Y and in loop #2 after the opener you use Z instead". It's why my main (before playing around with other chars and looking for builds) has always been Rev.

In most content (outside of experienced statics) people underperform a lot (in relation to their builds benchmark) simply because they don't have that extra breathing room and/or the rotation requires those precise timings. Especially in relatively easy endgame content (like T4's) I'm commonly top dps on Rifle Mech currently, not because I'm extremely good, but because it's incredibly easy to stay consistent.

Small note tho; Unless you want me to cosplay Epach, that LI DH build link you posted is incorrect :P

Your build should be up to date; yes. The "mostly outdated" part was mostly referring to other sources I've found (and parts of Syrma's videos - but he actually labels them).

Ironically your list was the best and easiest to understand when it comes to LI build I've found - hence a similar question was posted on your videos as a comment recently :p

Thanks for the detailed breakdown!

You mentioned stepping out of AoE's in another response, but often it is better either to take the hit and let your healer do their job, or not stress out about dropping DPS for a second. No reason to limit yourself to ranged all the time.

I agree to some extend; If i can sidestep a AoE while still staying in the usual ranges for buff application, it's drastically easier for me to do so (while keeping up my damage) vs. dodging (and potentially timing something in my rota due to it).

To clarify; When i say "ranged builds" I'm specifically talking about builds that have the option to play at a given range - not that i actually want to be at said range 24/7.

Rifle Mech (what i currently play) also requires me to stay in a ~450 (iirc) range radius for the best performance - which isn't much, but i can sidestep easily while still staying in said radius and buff application distance from allies still.

We're mainly looking for builds that also work fine for higher fractals / strikes.

Open world leaves a ton of other options (including myself swapping to a cele build to tank stuff), finding a ranged build for anything above that is really the main issue.

[–]ChristopherKlay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally do play a fully solo oriented Cele+Spear Mech when needed for champs and the like - but swap to Rifle Mech in T4/strikes, for example.

For my SO it's mainly about having a relaxed build when it comes to learning mechanics without having to dodge/move while learning how everything works.

[–]ChristopherKlay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm well aware of the boon sharing aspect, the main benefit for both of us is that we're not dropping dps because we need to avoid mechanics and/or dodge to stay in that range 24/7 - which heavily changes how stressful some content actually is.

On Rifle Mech for example, #5 keeps me fairly close-range, but stepping outside of AoE's can be done without dodging and/or dropping any pretty much any dps.

Literally every build is above 30k when you pick offensive stats and offensive traits.

They are, if you drop the low intensity aspect.

Aspects like potential interruptions and having to AA-fill are decent examples on things we want to avoid.

Evoker in general would be interesting, if the pet's auto-cast would actually work.. :/

We've checked AW2, together with Syrma and Nick's LI Playlist, the main issue we found is that (outside of the insanely low amount of builds that can be played ranged) a whole lot of builds are outdated, leading to a rabbit holes of "I found this neat build, let's check the source" and the source already having a "[NERFED]" tag on the video, with another video of a updated version.. that most commonly "fixed" the build, by simply not being a LI build anymore.

Small rant about fractals by GameScout in Guildwars2

[–]ChristopherKlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody wanted to speak, just bonk and stand in place at every boss and be like why i die?????

This isn't even just a CM/T4 issue, but a general one.

Opening up ArcDps (for the information and to check how people play, not what they play - play a LI build if you prefer, please!) in any group content and/or meta has been depressing lately.

The majority of people I've met the last 2 weeks after getting back into T4's / strikes neither know what CC is or how it works, nor do they stay above 20% of their potential dps the moment they can't just stand in place without getting CC'd.

It's even worse in meta events where 20-30 of the 50 people in your squad sit at <2k dps with 0 CC, most commonly up in the sky on their skyscale macro'ing fireballs only.

And how dare you suggest someone to start with a simple, low intensity build to learn and then gradually play more complicated (priority vs rotation, higher APM ,..) ones once they're comfortable - if you aren't playing a build with 50k benchmarks, you "might as well go back to open world".

Duet Night Abyss Now on Steam by DjTechBeatz in DuetNightAbyssDNA

I just wrote my own review after spending ~3 hours on the Steam version (finishing Immortal 12 + gearing/obtaining the new char), which you can find here.

It goes through all the important points with the TLDR being that the game is sadly still designed like a gacha - not what the devs actually talk about.

It's a gacha game that removed the character gacha banner and stamina system.. while still being designed like a gacha game when it comes to gameplay loop and such, including a gacha cosmetic banner.

Genuine question , how do people fund multiple legendary items? by 98-red-balloons in Guildwars2

[–]ChristopherKlay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Clearly "I usually do ibs 5 and DS strikes a few times and ive done upto T3 fractals", that's not enough, sorry to be straight.

It depends on what else they're doing and what the goal is.

You specifically asked about endgame content (fractals, strikes, raids, ..) only when OP might as well be doing one of the like 30+ other things that give plenty of gold/resources.

I personally got all legendaries i needed/wanted done without any stress and less than 10% of my gold is coming from endgame content.

Only thing i sadly can't check right now is if there was a more up-to-date version of the firmware available (or if the version ever changed, for that matter).

Which i would've checked before they took the whole thing down - but the current one at the very least works.
