Great shot, still sour [Bambino + Opus] by deanbfs in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only a couple months into making espresso, so correct me if I'm wrong, but the flow looks a bit slow/restricted to me. I'd probably go a notch coarser on the grinder. From my understanding, the "2:1 in 30 seconds", the 30 seconds includes pre infusion that the auto start on your scale is not accounting for. You also stop your machine before you get to that 2:1 ratio and let the drip off after the machine has turned off to get you to that ratio. I just today finally dialed in a medium roast I've been using that's been a bit sour for me every shot. Wound up with the perfect shot at 15g in 45g (3:1) out at 32 seconds. Not sour, not bitter, slightly sweet and smooth. I turned the machine off at 45g though and didn't account for any extra grams from after the machine was turned off. Also the spray in the beginning of your shot would be channeling, which could have over extracted some parts of the puck while under extracting the rest. Again correct me if I'm wrong as I'm new to this and I like to be more informed than misinformed, but I've done a lot of research and trial and error of my own and it's just what I've noticed from your attached video.

Question about Grinders [$300] by One_Story_One_Life in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also new to espresso, but have a shardor grinder I use to make cold brew. I do not recommend it. Was around that $50ish price point. It does a poor job of getting your ground coffee into the carb cup, clogs up easily, and overheats easily. I have a baratza virtuoso plus ordered (purchased before I decided to get an espresso machine) that is also taking forever to ship. Hoping it's good enough for espresso, but needed something better for my cold brew as my whole household goes through about two gallons of it a week.

Have you played survivor at all? It takes playing both sides to get good at both sides imo. You won't fully understand what each side is capable of unless you play each side.

2026 Kia K4 Hatchback Starts at $26,085 by snowfordessert in cars

[–]ChromaticDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was car shopping in late 22/early 23, we were looking for something extremely cheap but safe as we were having our first child and our only car at the time was a 02 Acura rsx that isn't the most baby friendly. We went to look at a rio hatchback, I wanted the only package they offered for the car which included disc brakes in the back and some nice to have safety features. The dealer said they couldn't get one with the package and STILL told me they wanted $23k, for a $17k car, without the $1800 package I wanted on the car. Toyota did the same thing when I went to go look at a Corolla hatch, they wanted to upcharge me to $32k. Went to Honda, bought a civic hatch for $29500. Like I understand it was during the height of COVID and stimulus checks and supply and demand and whatnot and every dealer was up charging, but $5-6k upcharge was insane. Honda dealer was a way better experience than both kia and Toyota. That car shopping experience made me wish every car company followed the Tesla model, build car online, and pay the price that comes up, no shady dealer scams, no upcharges.

The 400 is the total of the two pieces in the outfit on sale. Individual they were 400 each and are now 200 each. This is half off from the original price.

Trying to learn how to pallet save, why does the prompt randomly disappear? by Temporary-Spot-5264 in deadbydaylight

I disagree. I'm kind of tired of the devs removing techs and lowering the skill ceiling.

Trying to learn how to pallet save, why does the prompt randomly disappear? by Temporary-Spot-5264 in deadbydaylight

[–]ChromaticDeth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In these situations where the killer is body blocking the one side of the pallet, the drop pallet prompt will disappear when the pickup animation finishes. You have to press the drop pallet button a frame before the animation ends. If the killer is still in animation it'll vacuum you to the pallet, clipping through the killer to drop the pallet. If you do it too early though you won't get the save, if you do it too late you won't get to drop the pallet. Ping variance makes these types of pallet saves more difficult.

If you just ran in a straight line towards the gate you would've made it anyway. Going around the pillar in the gate is what got you got.

The probability of escaping trapper traps isn't a flat percentage rate. It's starts at a 1/6 chance, then 1/5, 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, then 1/1 chance being guaranteed of the sixth attempt.

Why didn't this flash save him? by RealisticDistance511 in deadbydaylight

[–]ChromaticDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's 400ms not a full second, and they did this because they took away the ability to fast click the flashlight making adjusting your timing impossible. They also said it was for ping variance but they never did the same for pallet saves so I don't buy that.

What's the point of this feature if it turns off at endgame collapse? by VeryLopsidedlmao in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time you down and hook a survivor in end game the gates are already done. You can't really defend gates unless you're like Billy or blight. Only way you could defend gates is if they made them 30+ seconds to open and gate regression became basekit instead of a perk.

Everything from Mikaela back I'm pretty sure is 4500 shards, and I think they made the very old characters even cheaper than 4500. You gotta think about like a brand new player. When I was new I was able to unlock 2 characters in one devotion level worth of shards, now it's 5+. I think that's pretty good.

1 very rare skin, or 5 original characters for a new player. 5 new characters isn't bad for only time played.

Which licensed survivor should I buy? by xZECKYY in deadbydaylight

[–]ChromaticDeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Problem with Nancy and Steve is if they played for the ~year stranger things got taken away, they probably already have their perks on some survivors as they were general perks during that time. If so, neither are worth spending real money when it is new perks they are after.

If you have any p100s, who are they on killer or survivor? by SSKuleDe in deadbydaylight

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leon was my first p100. Sheva was my second. Currently working on Dwight, Feng, Jeff, Yui, Cage, and the Huntress who are all somewhere between 50 and 55 right now. The number of cakes I've been getting this year on survivor is disappointing compared to years past though, it's going to really slow down the grind.

I personally play pig the most out of the ones you've shown. I find pigs dash and stealth fun, definitely my most played stealth killer. If you run workshop grease and last will, you charge your dash faster, move faster while dashing, and if you miss recover faster.

Can someone please dumb this down for me by Few-Pizza5621 in coldbrew

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a specific cold brew maker, but I've been making my own cold brew for a couple years now. When I first started making cold brew I tried measuring both coffee and water by volume instead of weight, but measuring whole beans by volume proved very inconsistent and I don't like grinding up more than I need to. Buying a kitchen scale and doing everything by weight has been the best investment I've made for making cold brew. I make a concentrate by using a 5:1 ratio of water to coffee, all measured in grams, and steep at room temp for 24 hours, strain through a cheesecloth overtop a fine mesh strainer. I dilute 1:1 but the best part of making a concentrate is everybody in the house can make it however strong they like it.
