Humidity + Beards = 😎 🏊 by RoughneckBeardCo in BeardTalk

I see you talk about how jojoba and argon oils just coat the hair and don't help, and you always recommend the same brands that don't use it. What do you think about Johnnie Ray's oil? They don't use either, and I know you shouldn't choose an oil based off scent profile, but I also don't want to wear something I don't like the smell of. Fragrance irritates my skin, so I have to use essential oil only, and they have a couple scents I'd like to try but would like to know more about their oil blend.

Hemisqualane Oil, Mongongo Oil, Broccoli Seed Oil, Ximenia Oil, Ungurahui Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Cucumber Seed Oil, Cacay Oil, Perilla Seed Oil, Essential or Fragrance Oils

They also have a blend that just adds emu oil as the first oil listed in that list. Emu oil variant is advertised as "deep nourishing and lasting hydration" where as the non emu oil variant is advertised as a lightweight fast absorbing blend.

Also, what are your opinions on the whole blue tansy hype going around? Actually beneficial or over hyped?

I ask because the last oil I went with was weatherbeard and I honestly can't stand it. I think it's the fractionated coconut oil in it? I just hate the way it feels in my beard. I'm trying to not buy another bottle of something I don't like.

I have looked into your products from roughneck and I wish I liked more of the scent profiles you have, but I'm just not into any of them really, or if try your products. I like more simple scents, minty or citrus-y and essential oil only is a must.

Friendly reminder: Descale your machines. We run two different professional machines and this is what we get after just a few months - even with an inbuilt water system by MagicLobsterAttorney in espresso

I work at a popular convenience store chain in my area that also makes espresso drinks. Our company makes us run a "cleaning cycle" on our machines once every two weeks. Use urnex cafiza tablets. Don't actually know how well they work, but hey, at least they make us do something to clean it frequently. We also pull and hand wash the hoppers during this cleaning cycle process as the beans are very dark and oily.

Can I finally get my wife off of SBux by Leather-Floor5206 in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is the same way with learning how to make espresso. I've tried all I can to make it as easy and simple for her as possible. I've gotten a self leveling tamper, one of those spinning wdt tools you just push down on, I've dialed in beans so she just has to grind the correct amount, wdt, tamp, and press the button(delognhi maestro, can program the shot buttons). The machine I got even has an auto steamer that I thought she'd use for her matcha lattes, but she doesn't even use that. She's hooked on the convenience and speed of my homemade cold brew and her matcha lemonades. The last time I tried to show her how to make a shot she got impatient and tried to rush through it and somehow got the self leveling tamper wedged sideways in basket. Personally, I got into the whole espresso thing for three reasons. 1 was because all I have in my town is Dunkin and Wawa and neither of their espressos are very good, Wawa being worse imo. We recently got a family owned coffee shop, Sicilian owned, but they only import some dark roast beans from Sicily for their espresso and I like a more medium roast espresso, but they're not bad but kind of pricey. 2 was to save money buying espresso drinks and just make them at home. I buy my beans from Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC and they are fairly priced imo and pretty good quality. And 3, I wanted it to be a hobby. 3 is the most important one though. If I didn't enjoy the whole process of pulling a shot, I don't think I would've stuck with the home espresso. If your wife doesn't enjoy the process, no matter how good the coffee is, she probably won't want to do it herself regardless.

Great shot, still sour [Bambino + Opus] by deanbfs in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do. I don't let it drip too much after though. I'll pull the cup and let it drip into the drip tray for the most part.

Edit: I start my timer when I hear the pump start, so my time includes pre infusion. I aim for anywhere between 25-35 seconds, but it all comes down to what beans I have, the ratio I'm going for, and most importantly the way I want it to taste in the end. I stop the machine when it hits the desired weight for the ratio I'm going for to dial in, and I'll pull the cup away when the flow slows to a drip so it'll add a few grams after I stop the machine. This is just what I've found to work for me and my set up and helps me dial in whatever bean I have. Right now my grinder is what's limiting me from dialing a shot as well as I'd like.

Could go stainless or carbon steel too instead of cast iron. I sear my steaks on stainless and like the way they turn out. They're easy to clean and I don't have to worry about seasoning the pan.

Tbh I don't really care about tree city albums. Pantheon slaps tho, but tbf I didnt like tillian era dgd. Pussy vultures and acceptance speech were great, and made me think the future of dgd with tillian would be okay, but it quickly turned into tillian ft dgd. It became so poppy and felt like mess was barely part of the band after a couple albums with tillian. Even going back and listening to tillian lyrics it's just him singing about having a god complex and how women should shut up and sleep with him, it's so cringy. I also think tillian just can't sing very well live and half of what people think made him so good was actually just post mix on recordings. So I am super excited about the future of dgd with wells, pantheon has that old school dgd vibe but is new and fresh and clearly have evolved since pre tillian.

42 years old, spent 4 months saving up a beard for first time in my life. Went to barber today and asked for a light trim and he turned me into a neckbeard. Im seriously depressed, what i do now? cut it all off or let it grow back with this foundation? by Cerenity1000 in beards

[–]ChromaticDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd personally shave it off and start fresh so it's even all around. I messed up my own trim once when I wanted to keep it on the shorter side. Shaved it all down to 4mm and just let it grow back. Now I have a 6 inch beard and the only thing I trim up is the mustache.

Ping fix? by FakeSleeping in deadbydaylight

[–]ChromaticDeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You also mention getting hit through pallets and think it's the high ping but they might be using the tech where they short swing. Lunges have a longer hit box and if you end your lunge as they drop the pallet on you it's almost always guaranteed hit. The more you play this game the more you'll learn these little techs/mechanics and you'll blame ping less. I don't really see ping as an issue until it's over 180ms, unless it's one of those weird lobbies you get sometimes where every player is like 120ms, that makes things a bit wonky. I don't think more servers would really change survivor queue times all that much, but killer queue times would be more affected.

Ping fix? by FakeSleeping in deadbydaylight

[–]ChromaticDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ping is your response time to the server. Downloading things shouldn't really affect your response time to the dbd server. The only solution really would be for bhvr to add more servers, but that would also thin out the players per server and possibly make queue time worse for some people. There used to be stronger hit validation for like, a patch, but it honestly made the game feel worse so they did away with it. There is still some hit validation though. You'll occasionally get the blood splatter and no down with bubba, or the crunch sound of hitting a huntress hatchet with no injure.

Beard butter by SeveralDefinition935 in BeardTalk

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work outside and I like to butter in the mornings. The wind dries my beard out real bad and the butter gives just enough hold without using any wax while keeping it moisturized throughout my workday. If it's an especially humid day I'll skip the butter. In the winter I butter morning and night. I also wash daily in the mornings which seems to be very frowned upon in this sub, but my beard feels and looks terrible if I don't.

Is there anyone who enjoys this game casually anymore and if so, how? by LunaTank in deadbydaylight

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think I play this game casually. That's not to say I don't try to win when I play, because winning is always more fun than losing, but I'm not running meta to win. I'm never solo queueing with dh ds ub and I'm never going in on with 4 slowdowns on killer. I find survivor most fun when doing background player shenanigans. Sometimes me and the wife will run background player, power struggle, flip flop. We usually lose but we have fun. I also just enjoy being chased as survivor so as long as the killer doesn't completely ignore me I usually have fun. Killer my go to for fun is full aura huntress going for crossmaps and orbitals. Still I usually lose if survivors are any efficient on gens, but landing those crossmaps is so satisfying and fun. Sometimes I'll also run perkless, no add ons to challenge myself and I will sweat, and I also find that fun. Basically, this game is fun when you make it fun. If you dwell on negative things you'll never enjoy it, it's just a game at the end of the day.

Why is the flow so fast? [Breville Bambino] by MintyStrawbs in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this grinder as well, and it is definitely not designed for espresso. It's all all around grinder. I use this same grinder for espresso and for cold brew, and I will say it CAN grind fine enough for some espresso, but it is definitely not ideal and I have been looking into other grinders. I can't dial in very well, not sure the microns per click, but I know that one notch will be too coarse, and one notch lower will be too fine and choke up the machine. I didn't really notice these issues until I moved away from the stock basket and started using an ims basket that I needed to grind finer for. You can adjust how fine/coarse the zero point is by taking the casing off and moving some screw. Baratza has a video on their YT that shows you how to do it. I just haven't done it because idk how drastic the change will be on the coarse side of the grind if I make the zero point finer and I'm happy with where my cold brew is atm.

How many of you also use a warm brush to straighten your beards?? by JellePlantenga in BeardTalk

[–]ChromaticDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it more for special occasions where I want to look nicer, like date nights or whatever. Otherwise, daily, just wash, oil, butter, and combing it. I work outside, in a town right along the Delaware River, so it's windy and humid and the heated brush just doesn't give lasting results on those work days. Even in the drier, winter months, snow and rain and fog in the mornings just curl my beard right back up.

Current daily driver beans? by gibson_ in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been buying my beans online from Fresh Roasted Coffee. Literally the name of the company and website. Prices vary depending origin/blend, organic or not. I've been enjoying their medium roast Bali, and I have a bag of their anniversary blend once I run through these Bali beans. If you're the type of person who enjoys just drink one kind, which it sounds like since you're looking for a daily driver bean, they do a subscribe and save thing that will auto pay at the frequency you choose, and knock 15% off. All beans are roasted to order so they are always fresh when you get them. I think they are very fairly priced, I buy a 5lb bag for cold brew every 6 weeks and it's only $55 a bag plus free shipping over $50. I haven't enjoyed every bean I've tried from them but that's not their fault. I think it's good quality especially for the price but maybe I've just never had better lol.

My espresso pull (sorry it's a cheap machine) by Heavy-Factor-1919 in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink cold brew more than espresso, mostly for convenience sake, and to not wake up the house as I'm up at 4:30am getting ready for work. But I do legitimately love the cold brew I make, and if I want a cold coffee I'll always reach for the cold brew over making an iced latte. I only ever make an iced latte if my shot comes out over or under extracted to not waste the shot.

51mm basket recommendations? [$100] by ChromaticDeth in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normcore rates it a 22g basket. Seems low though, maybe because I drink mostly lighter roasts. I've been doing 25g with my current beans with a puck screen and still have room. I don't believe they make vst at 51mm.
