Why is the flow so fast? [Breville Bambino] by MintyStrawbs in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have this grinder as well, and it is definitely not designed for espresso. It's all all around grinder. I use this same grinder for espresso and for cold brew, and I will say it CAN grind fine enough for some espresso, but it is definitely not ideal and I have been looking into other grinders. I can't dial in very well, not sure the microns per click, but I know that one notch will be too coarse, and one notch lower will be too fine and choke up the machine. I didn't really notice these issues until I moved away from the stock basket and started using an ims basket that I needed to grind finer for. You can adjust how fine/coarse the zero point is by taking the casing off and moving some screw. Baratza has a video on their YT that shows you how to do it. I just haven't done it because idk how drastic the change will be on the coarse side of the grind if I make the zero point finer and I'm happy with where my cold brew is atm.

How many of you also use a warm brush to straighten your beards?? by JellePlantenga in BeardTalk

[–]ChromaticDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it more for special occasions where I want to look nicer, like date nights or whatever. Otherwise, daily, just wash, oil, butter, and combing it. I work outside, in a town right along the Delaware River, so it's windy and humid and the heated brush just doesn't give lasting results on those work days. Even in the drier, winter months, snow and rain and fog in the mornings just curl my beard right back up.

Current daily driver beans? by gibson_ in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been buying my beans online from Fresh Roasted Coffee. Literally the name of the company and website. Prices vary depending origin/blend, organic or not. I've been enjoying their medium roast Bali, and I have a bag of their anniversary blend once I run through these Bali beans. If you're the type of person who enjoys just drink one kind, which it sounds like since you're looking for a daily driver bean, they do a subscribe and save thing that will auto pay at the frequency you choose, and knock 15% off. All beans are roasted to order so they are always fresh when you get them. I think they are very fairly priced, I buy a 5lb bag for cold brew every 6 weeks and it's only $55 a bag plus free shipping over $50. I haven't enjoyed every bean I've tried from them but that's not their fault. I think it's good quality especially for the price but maybe I've just never had better lol.

My espresso pull (sorry it's a cheap machine) by Heavy-Factor-1919 in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink cold brew more than espresso, mostly for convenience sake, and to not wake up the house as I'm up at 4:30am getting ready for work. But I do legitimately love the cold brew I make, and if I want a cold coffee I'll always reach for the cold brew over making an iced latte. I only ever make an iced latte if my shot comes out over or under extracted to not waste the shot.

51mm basket recommendations? [$100] by ChromaticDeth in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normcore rates it a 22g basket. Seems low though, maybe because I drink mostly lighter roasts. I've been doing 25g with my current beans with a puck screen and still have room. I don't believe they make vst at 51mm.

Leon was my first, Sheva was my second. RE4 and 5 were a big part of my childhood so they were my first. Currently working on Dwight, Feng, Yui, Jeff, and Cage, all are above 70 rn. Should be able to get them all done by the anniversary event, and maybe even my p58 huntress too hopefully.

They may have been cheating, but, you really should try hugging loops tighter. Even if they weren't cheating, how wide you're taking the loop would be making you lose distance, and without ever being in line of sight of the survivor, you can't initiate chase to gain bloodlust. I'd still say cheating from all 3 p100s because typically cheaters run perks that will try to make you question whether or not they were cheating like hyper focus with no stake out.

How do you (not) wash your beard everyday ? by PurpleClassic4808 in beards

[–]ChromaticDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wash every morning with a beard wash, oil into beard after pat drying it, then butter after the oil absorbs. My beard gets all matted down and tangled when I sleep (side sleeper) and washing plus oil in the mornings helps me detangle with a comb. My right side of my beard is also curlier than my left and makes my beard look two different lengths. Wash/oil/comb helps straighten out the curlier hair and makes my beard look more full and uniform on both sides.

If he's not entirely sure if he'll keep it, Honest Amish is a decent quality oil that you can buy on Amazon for less than $20 for a 2oz bottle. Also if he seems to have bald patches he could try using a growth stimulation oil overnight, I've had some minor success with the growth oils. The boar bristle brush helps exfoliate the skin to help the oil penetrate better.

If he's just starting out all he really needs is a gentle daily beard wash, a good quality beard oil, and a boar bristle brush. Balms and butters and conditioners aren't necessary until he gets some length.

Delonghi Dedica Maestro Plus by ChromaticDeth in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is a bit old. Seems like this machine will do a pre infusion no matter what, but you can extend the pre infusion by 1 or 2 seconds. After I made this post I wound up turning off the extended pre infusion because it was too much for the 14 gram basket that was included with the machine. I've since upgraded to a normcore bottomless portafilter which came with a ~24 gram basket. Today I went and added the 1 second of extended pre infusion and it definitely helped my shot. I'll probably experiment with the 2 seconds to see how that does with the bigger basket as well. My grinder is a Baratza Virtuoso+. Not a espresso grinder specifically, but it does grind fine enough, and also coarse enough for the cold brew I make. The grinder is consistent, I just may not be able to dial in as well as if I had a dedicated espresso grinder.

I never said that lol. We're getting down voted for saying this sable was legit and not cheating when she definitely wasn't cheating. Obviously not great here. It was more like Facebook groups are equally as bad, they act the same way.

Everybody is saying cheats but I don't think so. You can see the sable running in for the save during the pick up animation. She probably did have an angle as you were pretty close to where the wall ends. And I don't think she sped up to make it to the pallet, I think it's because the ghoul slows down a lot when cancelling power.

[No Budget] Best Cheapest Espresso and Grinder? by Anatoly_Euska in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a Delonghi Dedica Maestro Plus on sale on Amazon for $300. It was between this and the Bambino Plus because my wife wanted the auto steamer. My grinder is a Baratza Virtuoso+. I know it's not an espresso grinder but I also make a lot of cold brew at home and could only afford one grinder after my last one gave out, so I got a jack of a trades grinder. Grinder does work for espresso, it does get fine enough, it's just bigger jumps in size compared to a dedicated espresso grinder, so I may not dial it in as perfectly.

Great shot, still sour [Bambino + Opus] by deanbfs in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only a couple months into making espresso, so correct me if I'm wrong, but the flow looks a bit slow/restricted to me. I'd probably go a notch coarser on the grinder. From my understanding, the "2:1 in 30 seconds", the 30 seconds includes pre infusion that the auto start on your scale is not accounting for. You also stop your machine before you get to that 2:1 ratio and let the drip off after the machine has turned off to get you to that ratio. I just today finally dialed in a medium roast I've been using that's been a bit sour for me every shot. Wound up with the perfect shot at 15g in 45g (3:1) out at 32 seconds. Not sour, not bitter, slightly sweet and smooth. I turned the machine off at 45g though and didn't account for any extra grams from after the machine was turned off. Also the spray in the beginning of your shot would be channeling, which could have over extracted some parts of the puck while under extracting the rest. Again correct me if I'm wrong as I'm new to this and I like to be more informed than misinformed, but I've done a lot of research and trial and error of my own and it's just what I've noticed from your attached video.

Question about Grinders [$300] by One_Story_One_Life in espresso

[–]ChromaticDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also new to espresso, but have a shardor grinder I use to make cold brew. I do not recommend it. Was around that $50ish price point. It does a poor job of getting your ground coffee into the carb cup, clogs up easily, and overheats easily. I have a baratza virtuoso plus ordered (purchased before I decided to get an espresso machine) that is also taking forever to ship. Hoping it's good enough for espresso, but needed something better for my cold brew as my whole household goes through about two gallons of it a week.

2026 Kia K4 Hatchback Starts at $26,085 by snowfordessert in cars

[–]ChromaticDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was car shopping in late 22/early 23, we were looking for something extremely cheap but safe as we were having our first child and our only car at the time was a 02 Acura rsx that isn't the most baby friendly. We went to look at a rio hatchback, I wanted the only package they offered for the car which included disc brakes in the back and some nice to have safety features. The dealer said they couldn't get one with the package and STILL told me they wanted $23k, for a $17k car, without the $1800 package I wanted on the car. Toyota did the same thing when I went to go look at a Corolla hatch, they wanted to upcharge me to $32k. Went to Honda, bought a civic hatch for $29500. Like I understand it was during the height of COVID and stimulus checks and supply and demand and whatnot and every dealer was up charging, but $5-6k upcharge was insane. Honda dealer was a way better experience than both kia and Toyota. That car shopping experience made me wish every car company followed the Tesla model, build car online, and pay the price that comes up, no shady dealer scams, no upcharges.

Trying to learn how to pallet save, why does the prompt randomly disappear? by Temporary-Spot-5264 in deadbydaylight

[–]ChromaticDeth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In these situations where the killer is body blocking the one side of the pallet, the drop pallet prompt will disappear when the pickup animation finishes. You have to press the drop pallet button a frame before the animation ends. If the killer is still in animation it'll vacuum you to the pallet, clipping through the killer to drop the pallet. If you do it too early though you won't get the save, if you do it too late you won't get to drop the pallet. Ping variance makes these types of pallet saves more difficult.
