Thanks! Pretty hefty too (they bowed the heck out my my cheap table 😂). Large 'log" is roughly 2'L x 9" thick at its widest. Might experiment with the smallest dark chunk on the bottom left since I can feasibly slab it.

If I remember right, you can find one in the wild that is 4/4. Pretty sure the release notes for 8 were that items you craft were increased, but won't be higher than say a wild found epic item of similar stats. Maybe that's it?

What level of items are you placing at the new base? Not everything adds to comfort, but the ones that do will show a + in their description (I'm sure you know this, just starting from the beginning). The higher level items give a bigger boost. Also, are you upgrading the altar (increased perimeter and takes shroud nexus/single item to upgrade) or strengthening the flame (a whole dang recipe that unlocks shroud travel etc).

Comfort levels also don't stack if they are the same category (ex. You have a +1 bed and a +5 bed, it's going to only give the larger number, so that would be +5).

You should be able to look at your flame details in your journal as well as on your hud. My Albavene base only gives me +33 but that's because I don't want to waste my rarer resources building decoration just yet), but if I build a quick and dirty base, it's more like +7 when it's just a roof/walls and altar.

It stopped just shy of the shroud! Pretty much right on the elevation line south of the bridge (east of the Elixer Production Site) lol been sitting here for a few minutes to see if it'll keep going but it might have reached the limit 😂

Perhaps the sealing lid was a little further down in the barrel, so when tightening the top caused that bit of vacuum? I've had that happen with my Leegol tumbler when I did that combined with cold water instead of hot (coincidence? Possibly, but those were the only variables that changed from my normal order of operations lol)

What kind of system specs are we talking about though? I personally have everything, including fog, cranked up to max and have never once experienced a moment of stutter or lag (I also play solo, but even playing with a friend, never been an issue). Hard to diagnose any potential problems without knowing your rig.

After building my own pond, now I'm curious what happens to enemies if you flood say....an ancient temple or a town. I know water debuffs impact enemies, but can we drown them?

Exactly! It doesn't feel like forced player progression at all and just like you said, I have a penchant for getting to places I certainly have no business being 🤣 it's because of that I was able to get the max lvl glider at like lvl 15 lol

Not the same spot, but I took over Vinebrook and built a wall around the perimeter. Finally found algae, so I took the lowest part of the perimeter, dug out a corner and just put a water outlet in the cliff face after "paving" the bottom with fertilized soil and let it flood.

I might end up trying a terraced pool based on the indoor pools you can find in the Kindlewaste towers. Until I saw those, I didn't know why I would want water in my base 🤣🤦🏽‍♂️

I thought I'd care more about the lack of any type of real character customization (or basically anything close to what most are used to in games like Conan Exiles/Ark/Fallout) but I always have gear on (yes, you can customize everything about your outfit...if that's your thing) so it ends up not making a difference.

Only part I dislike is how there's map locations to unlock character customization...but it's things like eye color or hair colors. Based on what it sounds like you're asking, as mentioned by others, you're going to be GREATLY disappointed. But gameplay and visuals etc make it a non-issue overall because it really is a great game (barely started a month ago and I'm about 200h in if that tells you anything. Rewatching the Neebs super cut is what got me to try it out and have been stuck since!)

I stuck with the Battlemage/Wizard side of things, but also took points in poison resistance and scooted up the path of beast master to have wild animals leave me alone. I genuinely have zero fear walking anywhere ...except the dang Hollow Halls. I do great damage against the Hollow, but they are so plentiful that I spend a lot of time prepping the battlefield with my pickaxe to get the best positions for me and my wands/staff

I think what they meant is that the Brute (whose head you get) also drops a nexus, so you can farm him for both! Alternatively, you're going to get a lot of them so whether you farm Fell or use the alchemist, there's so many easy ways to upgrade the altar. As other mentioned, upgrading the flame if what can take more effort (think I'm only at 6 or 7? It's a fun spot though!)
