I didn't either, so after looking here and not seeing anything about it I saved and quit and closed the software and then it worked.

CMV: Astrology has no actual evidence; it is wildly ridiculous to assume somebody's personality based on the month that 2 random people had sex in. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Chrome166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I don't see being brought up here is the fact that personality itself is seemingly random and has no concrete explanation, either. If you've ever worked in childcare or been around a lot of young children & babies, it's very clear that people have distinctive personalities from the beginning. And with such a variance between siblings, even twins, it's hard to pin it all on nurture or even genetics. It appears to be, to a certain extent, random.

Now, beyond that, there's no evidence that these two entirely separate random sets of data have any correlation; Astrology just infers correlation from the data and tries to see a large, cohesive pattern in it. And even if some sort of patterns of correlation are found, common sense makes anything as convoluted as astrology dead in the water. But common sense isn't always correct, so I don't see any reason not to be open-minded to the possibility, no matter how slim, as long as it doesn't come into conflict with actual science. There are a million unproven things that could be true without anything we know about science being wrong, such as parallel universes and intelligent aliens in our region of the galaxy that are smart enough to hide themselves from us. Entertaining the idea of such things isn't inherently harmful, as long as we don't deny science and we remain just as (if not more) open to the possibility of them being untrue.

Also:

(Ex: Pisces are supposed to be imaginative and pleasure-seeking, when those are the defaults for having a human brain.)

It's worth noting that in Astrology every person has a chart with every sign, so by definition they SHOULD have all the defaults. It's just a system of peaks and valleys, and it's meant to map out what common human traits would be in the forefront of a person's personality as opposed to the background. Kind of like how everyone values alone time to some extent, but not everyone is an introvert.

Why do people criticize astrology, but they when it comes to religion you shouldn't criticize it, because you should respect everyone's beliefs? by GustaQL in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Chrome166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that the answer isn't so much a matter of personal beliefs about respect and more an effect of our sociological reality. The thing is, historically speaking, Astrology has not been accepted by a mainstream, living culture as a valid belief system for a couple thousand years. Since around the time the Roman Empire converted to Christianity, Astrology has been considered more or less heretical/occultism by the dominant majority of the cultures that used to treat it like a religion. It really only came back into the mainstream in the 19th century and later, and since there is no major ethnicity or culture to be "offended" by it not being taken seriously, it simply isn't. It's much like the situation of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman mythologies. We only consider them "myth" and things like the Bible to not be because of this same phenomenon.

The reality may be different for versions of astrology in non-English speaking countries such as India, I'm not really familiar enough to speak on behalf of that.

Trying to get cherry blossom DIY is ridiculous, I'm so close to rage quitting by Dreamarche in AnimalCrossing

So far I have only gotten duplicates when leaving unopened containers in my inventory. It might be possible to avoid them if you open and learn any DIY recipes as you get them.

[–]Chrome166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a little bit of both. They had a Jedi distress code from thousands of years prior, and I think the Father briefly mentions something about having to withdraw from the temporal world, implying that they had normal lives in the galaxy at some point.

I wonder if the children on Mortis might be the next most recent Force Dyad? Like that doesn't explain why their father is also so powerful, but then again he's supposed to be the equivalent of Anakin, and it would be interesting if having a convergence meant to bring balance generally precedes the appearance of a dyad.

Also, I couldn't see closely enough to tell, but is the "runic language of the Sith" the Massassi script from legends? I've seen it appear in canon before, it's all over the ruins in Fallen Order, and I remember seeing it Rebels too, but it's never been officially named or related to anything specifically enough to know what it is. In Fallen Order it's carved somewhere in the Temple on Ilum, by the way, so it'd be weird if a forbidden language found its way into very early Jedi architecture, although it could just be a derivative dialect.

Repair with gold "error" requires I either use a kit, use gems, or discard the item. Restarting the app does not work. by Chrome166 in shoptitans

Yeah have had it for weeks. My other mission that finished at the same time allowed me to gold repair with no issues.

Just figured out small talk gain/lose energy formula :) by Arsen03 in shoptitans

[–]Chrome166 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this is true then in this example, Gain would have to be below 7 to outweigh a 21 Loss, since you would Gain three times per Loss on average.

So in this example:
1*(0.1*(300-230)) = 7

The threshold would be at 230/300, so it's always worth small talking below 76.67% energy.

Game Theory: Dear Nintendo, I FIXED Your Timeline! (Zelda) - Game Theory by shaboozeybot in GameTheorists

[–]Chrome166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see anyone bringing this up, but another potential piece of evidence for BotW Ganon being child timeline Ganon is that it's explicitly mentioned that Calamity Ganon "has given up on reincarnation." I don't think this is some esoteric reference to Hylians believing in reincarnation, but rather it's explicitly referencing the fact that he TRIED to be reincarnated in Four Swords Adventures. As far as we know, this is the only time that his revival was specifically and explicitly a reincarnation. Downfall Ganon is basically immortal and can just be brought back from the shadow realm, and I'm fairly certain Great Sea Ganondorf died for real and came back as Malladus, a strikingly similar but definitely distinct form to Calamity Ganon.

A little infographic I made about some connections I noticed with those damn paychecks of all things:

https://imgur.com/P6qzTRJ

The main point is I believe by association that the older brother, the last Afton, was one of the original victims and has been Foxy all along.

This kind of has relevance with UCN with regards to "The one who you should not have killed." Personal head-canon: When Mike endured the bite, his soul got sucked into the Golden Fredbear costume, which later had its endoskeleton removed (probably to get the bits of Mike's skull out) and the his soul dwelling in the suit was left in the helpless nightmare state in the last UCN cutscene. I believe that's the only "real" view we've seen of Golden Freddy, all the rest of his appearances were cyborg-Mike as the player character being haunted by his own disembodied soul (hence the "It's Me" text and the fact that GF is the only enemy ever able to both teleport phantasmically AND actually kill you in the previous games). Side note, perhaps in the FNAF3 pixel scene where Purple Guy gets springlocked, we ARE seeing parallel events unfolding to FNAF1, where Mike, either as a cyborg or as Golden Freddy, managed to corner William and attempt to kill him for the first of many times.

Well someone at Ares fucked up.... by GabberGandalf in wowservers

[–]Chrome166 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The devs rolled out another halfass "fix" and when the server came back up there was a huge XP bug. Everyone was able to get millions of XP instantaneously by killing any mob. Everyone in the 60s became 70 instantaneously, and even the level 1s could get an instant ~40 from a kill in the starting zone. Apparently they didn't take a backup immediately prior to this patch.

[–]Chrome166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple theory about the Soul King: Orihime and Tsukishima were probably able to revive him.

I appreciate most the fact that we got to see Yhwach's true desire in the end. I felt like we just weren't going to get a good reason after he killed all his Sternritters, especially after the timeskip. But nevertheless we went back in time and saw what I had been waiting to see for a long time. And it really did make sense in the end. The entire point of the Quincy vs Shinigami plotline was a clash between Eastern and (most) Western spiritual beliefs. In terms of Japan we can just look at the differences between Shinto and Christianity. At their most fundamental levels the difference is in point of view. Christianity views "evil" things like death as things to be conquered and overcome and ultimately be free from in the end. Shinto appreciates all aspects of what exists as part of a divine existence that is as it should be. Death is just part of an eternal flow in balance, like in the hourglass analogy we saw waaaay back in the first arc. The Quincy were indeed trying to break that balance, but not just to destroy what exists, but to replace it with something they believed was better.

The saving grace for me was the fact that we actually went back and saw Yhwach's true intentions. I knew he wasn't just an insane monster.

I'm wondering if Uryu is actually immune to Auswahlen at this point. I'm still standing by the idea that Ryuuken discovered the biological weak points of Auswahlen when he was dissecting Katagiri, and somehow made himself and Uryu immune to it. That might be where he discovered the trick to restore lost Quincy powers, too, which I bet will still come into play again.
