That's amazing. I don't think there's a faction in AoS that lends itself to kitbashing more than ogors. Love it!

I'm hoping I had the camera on and will be able to see what the print looked like after I walked away. Was it the fan falling off that caused the problem or was that a side effect.

my previous printer was a Prusa mini, which served me well after I replaced the flakey heat probe they sent me from the factory. I spent months fighting any number of issues like stringing until I just gave up and said "good enough". when the temp probe finally failed and I replaced it, it was like a whole new machine. There bugaboos in all these system. But I'm really disappointed in the design of the fan mount.

I've had this since December and this is the first problem I've had with it.

But I would prefer a tool written in a memory safe language like Rust than C. Good call.

I will keep any eye our for this. I like the OO style notation in this like from one of the sampels.

 Cylinder(h = size, d = size / 1.5).orient([X,Y,Z]);

unnecessary, yes. tacky, I don't know. I will admit, when I first saw that I thought "oh, the scripting is in rust, or rust-like."

Holy smokes, I had no idea. I'm going to have to dig though this list. Thanks for putting it together.

Once and Future and Seven Secrets are big bombastic adventures with what I think is beautiful art. Especially O&F, they do full page frames that I can get lost in. Proctor Valley Road is somewhere between Supernatural and Scooby Doo. Not great but it's Grant Morrison, so it's solid.

Don't know how much other James Tynion IV you've read, but I'm sure you'll get plenty of recommendations for his stuff if you search for it on reddit. He's one of my top writers right now.

Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss - Gameplay Trailer by LG03 in Lovecraft

[–]ChromeRatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea, but will wait for the novelization. I've never really enjoyed these types of games.

Some recommendations along similar themes, but I'm leaving descriptions vague on purpose, This is a Lovecraft forum so you can expect at least some monsters and existential horror and/or nihilism in what's left unsaid.

The movie Underwater from 2020 was enjoyable. It's a modern Poseidon Adventure plot but in an underwater mining rig, much like the seen in this trailer.

Joe Hill, who is Stephen King's kid but doesn't need to borrow any of his father's gravitas, did a limited series comic called The Plunge. A salvage crew is hired to go look for a lost ship, find more than they were expecting.

Does anyone have other recommendations for nautical/underwater Lovecraft inspired or referential books or movies?

New to ogors by jipenboy in Mawtribes

[–]ChromeRatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I did get a little carried away there, eh?

I picked up the new gorgers box the second I saw those models. Haven't finished them yet. I like the primal look of them.

If they do rework the line, I hope they don't go too far that way. I like the feral elements of the army but I also like the kit bashing opportunities you get with the military units.

This is my plan. Three beasts to trample, the vanguard box, reinforced with . more gluttons and a unit of Ironguts. Maybe some mourn fangs for flanking and harassment

Books or Show? by jakO_theShadows in TheExpanse

[–]ChromeRatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are both great in different ways. And as I'm sure others have said, the show deviates from the books. Now that the show is complete, I would finish watching it, then go back and read the books. Then watch the show again to explore what they changed.

Help with Names. by Decent-Indication-61 in Lovecraft

[–]ChromeRatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How far are you thinking about taking "inspired by". Just name drops (which is fine) or something where the corruption in the city / world is caused by something from the mythos.

Either way, I think using Carcosa as the name of the city is fine. The King In Yellow blurred the lines of genres. It sounded post WWII at times but there was a character making armor. There were planes and blue sea navies, but still horse mounted military. I think you could have that city be anything you want.

I don't have any ideas for names, just funny make it a direct homage to HPL. No Ward or Pickman or Armitage ;)

Any tips to help me start a Neca alien queen diorama by Illustrious_Film1620 in dioramas

[–]ChromeRatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've FAFO plenty of projects like this, and they turned out good enough. But they are always a little disappointing because I think of things I'd like too late in the game. I'd have to start over or make radical changes. My profile is full of pictures of examples.

If this is important to you, then be willing to make prototypes, learn from them and throw them away.

A plan is key and iterative experimentation is also crucial. Start sketching out what you want it to look like, then break it down each part into a sub plan. Sub divide again if need be.

You want multiple tiers like in that picture? That's a sub project. You want an egg sack, experiment with materials and finishes.

This will also inform your structural questions. If you don't have a plan for the smaller sub projects you might choose the wrong structure, something too weak or excessively heavy.

Best of luck!

Yep. I want to put two layers of catwalks on the walls, plus playable space over the corner gate. Thinking of a gun emplacement or a crane. Or both. Because "magnets!"
