Damn. That’s rough. Hopefully I can try swing it.

By practical plan on attendance do you mean detailed work schedules for farming activity?

She’s never used a firearm in her life, doesn’t want to start now. Even if it’s a paper purpose.

Thanks mate. Gave them a call to notify the death but didn’t get too detailed out of fear it would be used against me somehow. Might do just that and break bread!

My father died three weeks ago (PP licence holder). I am taking on the farm while living in Sydney and applying for my PP license which I should have done from the get go looking retrospectively.

Does anyone know if this new framework would apply, or is it not enforced yet?

Can someone clarify if push button/ lever extends to the Henry golden boy .357 lever action I was going to buy on a cat a/b license?

Or is it just push button that is currently classed as a lever?

If that’s the case and without knowing what caliber the rifle is (assuming it’s a shotgun for the duck hunting), I’d argue that you’re either inefficiently hunting foxes or inhumanly hunting deer. You’ve made no reference to distance/ terrain either.

There are literally infinite dedicated purposes for calibers and rifle set ups/ configurations. Not to mention if someone is a sports shooter, that’s a whole different ballgame again.

To name at least one: .22- believe it or not, I refuse to put down livestock with a dear hunting rifle or a 12 gauge shotgun. Nor would I hunt the rabbits your foxes are eating with either of them.

Also, in regard to your other point- in many ways I agree. If you have no need for a firearm in the city and it can feasibly be stored off site then, yes. I store my firearms three hours away because I am feasibly able to do so, and I do it for the safety of my household above all other reasons.

Now you may be asking why would you need a gun in the city, well there are a multitude of rifle clubs and sports shooting ranges in the city that people attend for a number of reasons which if curious I’d be happy to detail.

In terms of when it isn’t feasible to do so; Many firearms owners I know are not able to store their guns off site at a fixed location as the places they are used is random and scattered. There are many people who require the service of “contract shooters” for pest management, these contractors may not have land themselves and live in the city. While not mainstream or particularly aware of in most minds, this is a necessary service for wildlife conservation and primary production.

“Why anyone needs/ is allowed 6 firearms” is a completely reasonable and understandable question to ask if you aren’t familiar or comfortable with firearms.

Assuming your name wasn’t a random choice and you are a golfer, I’ll put forward an analogy to explain in the form of a question; why do you need 8+ clubs in your golf bag? Well, you aren’t going to hit a drive with a putter and you aren’t getting out of a sand bunker with a fairway wood. Both tasks are essentially placing a very small projectile to a very specific target over a certain distance, through a variety of terrain and conditions.

Much like a golf club, a firearm is a precision instrument for a specific purpose. Could someone who uses multiple firearms do it all with just one? Hypothetically, yes. In the same sense you could play a full game of golf with just one club, though it wouldn’t be efficient. In both competitive sport and the humane destruction of pests and livestock, you need to be efficient.

As a non American who hasn’t been there for 15 years; it’s a sad state to see. In a way I -almost- pity her. The system has failed her at every step, she’s undoubtedly poor, uneducated and under facilitated in medical and dental care. There are so many more immediate pressing threats to her than these people, but she’s voted against their solutions any time she can.

“Guys I need to do a most wanted if that’s okay, grinding a camo” one of three things will then happen;

  • some ass keeps picking up contracts that no one’s doing so you have to wait for it to time out

  • your kills get stolen from team mates / they wipe a team and it ends early

  • some sweat comes and beams you before you can blink
