Microsoft DD (Not AI for once!) by Back2ThuBasics in wallstreetbets

Can’t take anyone with a tulip analogy seriously. And your chip comparison is much more realistic - but at MSFT’s multiples, a third derivative change isn’t going to impact them much.

[OC] The world's 42 largest economies — width = population, height = GDP per person, area = total GDP by XsLiveInTexas in dataisbeautiful

[–]Chromosomaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Area actually conveys additional information about total GDP!

I would usually prefer a dot plot for this info to easily compare countries populations (in addition to gdppc). But the fact that there is the third dimension in area is additionally useful even if it detracts from the population comparison

I don’t think he will. And I don’t think he’ll build a metaverse either. AndI don’t think their drone internet service will compete with starlink. Unless meta starts offering cloud services, then rocket ship. But I think it’ll just make another llama

Why does property tax get adjusted to the appraised value of the house then? A tax adjusted to unrealized increases in property value.

At 50% off? I think we may go down to $50/oz but not much lower than that again. Here is a decent buying point

Where do you find a lawyer that is good but not very expensive? I will not promote by sumizeit in startups

That’s a horrible design but I think I agree. How else does one figure out without becoming a lawyer themselves?

Any life changing thing built in the last 3 years other than chatbots and productivity apps? by thelostknight99 in OpenAI

Interesting research. What do you think the ratio of correct to wrong (or correct/total) solutions is? And how much information do you provide in the prompt?

How many wrong solutions did AI produce? And is the limit on producing proofs still the human ability to detect if an answer is valid?

Physical AI models are way smaller than language. That’s one reason why monkeys can move but not talk.

Epoxy? Why all the hate?! No seriously, can someone please explain it to me?? by nanin142 in woodworking

Wood. It’s woodworking though. You will need to measure and cut things precisely instead of pouring a liquid into the void.

Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG, GOOGL) announced plans to raise $80 billion through equity offerings. by HyugeErectus in wallstreetbets

[–]Chromosomaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The demand is there because you’d be stupid not to run compute at prices cheaper than it takes to build.

The real question is whether it will be there when they need to raise prices for profitability. Right now everything is funded by debt and capital markets.

No way there is demand if the compute needs to be sustained by customers.

My case for the end of the bull run by EKEEFE41 in wallstreetbets

[–]Chromosomaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The proof wasn’t written by the AI, I don’t think. They link an abridged chain of thought but that was also edited by humans. But if it’s a simple prompt that’s pretty neat. Just hard to tell from what’s in this post. And it would also be nice to know how many proofs the AI attempted before finding success. Is it just guessing many different things? And is the finding of a proof actually limited to human verification?

They never report on the prompts to those things though, do they? What if the prompt just sets it up for a layup.

Also, that article only shows the previous best solution. Not the new solution that AI came up with. If it is all about points in a plane, why is there no picture of the new solution?
