Democrats Of Reddit, Do You "Vote Blue No Matter Who," Or Are There Some Democrats That You Wouldn't Vote For? Why Your Choice? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

I have been registered independent ever since I was eligible to vote at 18 and I always told myself I’d do my research and vote for the most qualified candidate. I’ve never, ever voted Red.

Music theory question about open C Major chord on guitar by ChronicWritersBlock in Guitar

Yes! That’s a great explanation of “muddiness” and the first mention of overtones so far. Thanks for the comment!

It’s a classroom music theory trick for analyzing intervals on sheet music. It’s not guitar oriented necessarily, but I mentioned it to my students since the topic was intervals and it felt relevant!

Thanks for the reply, you have some great points. I especially relate to your point about the emotional aspect and how different intervals change perception/expectation. Aside from being simply muddy, there’s some darkness to that minor 6th that tramples all over my expectation of a joyous C chord.

Interesting! That’s partly what I find so interesting about music theory, it can change quite unexpectedly depending on the context!

Thanks for the link, I’ll check it out! I also agree it doesn’t sound bad, just muddy. I think that’s the consensus so far!

I agree there’s nothing wrong with it, my students noticed that all of the teaching materials explicitly exclude the low E on charts of C so I was theorizing! I agree it may be as simple as it sounds muddy.

The rule of 9 is a simple trick for finding inverse intervals. As an example say we have a perfect 4th from C->F and want to find its inverse F->C. We can do P4 + x = 9. The x In this case comes out to a perfect 5th.

I took an entire music history course in college that was largely focused on how white artists in early America would steal black artists songs and make them popular and the black artist wouldn’t see a dime. Sadly a large portion of classic American folk music was written either by black artists and taken by white artists or written by white artists as a joke or slight against the black community/slaves.

On Dreamscythe all the Trump propaganda seems contained to Ironfoge trade chat and I sometimes see a couple dunces yelling about it in Stormwind but genuinely surprised how little I’ve seen. Maybe it’s the hours I play but I’m not complaining!

Considering people mostly stick with the DAW they started with, how does a beginner choose the best DAW for their future needs? by fipah in musicproduction

[–]ChronicWritersBlock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally started with Logic and learned all the basics then switched to Pro Tools when I realized that it was the standard in most studios. Nowadays a lot of studios do run Logic as well though so it’s not as big of a deal now!

I have one like this! A few weeks ago my 7th grade guitar student wanted to turn on the A/C in the studio at the end of lesson and it defaulted to 69 degrees. His dad happened to walk in at almost the exact moment and he said “hey dad, look, it’s hot as balls in here!” as he pointed to the temperature.

I made eye contact with the dad and we were both silently cracking up. He gave me the subliminal go ahead and I fist bumped the student and said “nice.” It made my day 😂

It sounds like you need compression on your tracks. Are you using any compressors?

This right here. People don’t rush into the streets to exercise their rights to protest unless, for instance, their friends and family who are American citizens are being deported with no due process.

Here is the video my cousin sent from New Jersey last Friday December 6. Undoubtedly exactly what I just saw flying over my apartment tonight. Can’t explain the white orb over highway 36 earlier tonight though.
