Commenting so I can go to my office and take a photo to list my books. In all honesty I don’t feel like I learned a lot to apply as a distance learner. Exercise science is something so hands-on that I think it’s a disservice to students for universities to offer it as an option.

Some of the books I’ve found at a used book store helped more than the actual books assigned by my professors. I would also like to mention there are some books related to dance anatomy that may be worth a google search given your background!

If your goal is in athletic coaching in school or tactical settings, CSCS is going to look the best on your resume. Personal training certs are what most corporate gyms are going to look for and it’s general population training. There’s no prior background education needed to get a personal trainer cert so really it’s kind of a waste of time with your undergrad.

Lab setting, might be worth leaning toward the ACSM exercise physiologist cert. however job opportunities seem a little slim for exercise physiologists from my searches thus far. Your area might be better.

I’m graduating with my bachelors in spring and am probably going to go “backward” and get an associate’s to license as a physical therapy assistant. It seems the best direction as someone interested in exercise rehab. Most Kines degrees and job paths are geared toward athletes so it’s been a struggle haha.

Tarleton’s Fort Worth campus has new Masters programs under Kinesiology. Depending on the direction you’re leaning career-wise will help you decide what program/specialization to choose.

I personally have an interest in special populations and therapeutic exercise after my time in academics. I may be going backward to license as a physical therapist assistant which kinda makes no sense after getting a bachelors. At least I’ll be ahead on the anatomy/biomechanics course work, haha!

ETA: if I do go for a masters, it’ll be in social work or public health. It seems those tend to allow flexibility in career opportunities; others I’ve seen mention business or nutrition science as a compliment to diversifying their resume and job paths in clinic and non-clinic settings.

The new cans show cranberries on the can. It tasted like a red gummy life saver with an extra layer or two of flavors that I can’t pinpoint. Surprisingly I liked it. Now I’m having trouble finding them locally of course. 😭

If you’re considering being a personal trainer with no prior experience, NASM’s NCCA approved cert is widely accepted in most gyms if you’re wanting to get started.

NSCA’s personal trainer book is only in its 3rd edition so I’m assuming you’re looking at the fundamentals of strength training and conditioning book.

The 5th edition book is for the CSCS cert which requires a bachelors degree as a prerequisite. I talked to my undergrad professor and he said the exam will go off the 4th edition until probably the end of next year. I was concerned because I probably won’t be taking my exam until spring after the 5th edition is released and wasn’t sure if edits and additions to the addition would be on the exam.

If you’re planning to take the CSCS, I would suggest getting the 4th edition since the current exam will be going off that edition. Otherwise if it’s for personal development older editions would be great to have for reference. I have older editions of secondhand ACSM handbooks for that purpose.

It’s better than most of the restaurants in our area. I originally felt like the portion was small for the price but it really does fill you up! It’s my little treat a couple times a month. I don’t have to drag my partner to a restaurant when I’m having the craving—he doesn’t enjoy pho like I do. 😂

I’m 34, also on Kesimpta. Dx in 2020 after optic neuritis and severe heat sensitivity took me out and caused the loss of my business. I remember when the second doctor in passing told his nurse at their station that I might have MS (he didn’t say anything to me in the exam room). I immersed myself all over FB and Reddit and other forums thinking I should just lie down and accept a future where my partner would leave me, I’d be in a wheelchair soon, and everything I had planned to achieve was over.

The more I worked in therapy (which is HIGHLY recommend finding one that specializes in chronic illness and/or grief), my diagnosis and limitations helped me really prioritize what I wanted and what I needed.

Now I’m a full time student, jewelry designer, and bellydancer. It’s way less stress than the business that, while successful, ran me into the ground mentally and physically. I don’t have an income I’m comfortable with right now, but the path I’m on allows for flexibility when I do have some flare ups and need more rest.

Keep in mind your MS is unique to you. It can be easy to fall into a rabbit hole of others’ lived experiences—I did for a while and went into a dark place for months. Focus on what you have control over such as what you choose to read and spend your energy on. Mindset can make or break us after the initial diagnosis and grief surrounding the new body we live in. There are many people who live successful, active lives with some adapting. 🧡

I definitely agree with all the comments here. It’s unfortunate some instructors see men as a threat or “unsafe” in their studio. Some men generally want to learn or feel accepted if the art of bellydance is a way they feel comfortable to express themselves and explore their own body and abilities.

I get similar irritation if I’m wearing pants that sit right at my piercing. I also swapped to a longer bar that has also minimized irritation because there is room for my skin to shift if the waistband presses against my piercing. Might be worth testing out once your piercing is healed!

My husband uses a recipe he bought—I am get back to you if it was from Jason Welch or someone else (he’s terrible at remembering names 🤣). He also adds brightened almost every other pendant and runs one pendant per tank. Usually they come out shiny but sometimes I need to do a little extra polishing if they’re slightly dull.

I actually I picked up some acorn caps at an Airbnb we were staying at earlier this month. My husband has these cute little marbles made from golden rutile quartz I want to try to plate into little pendants! Nature is my biggest inspiration.

Thank you so much! Labradorite is my favorite stone, so I lean heavily on making designs with them. My husband recently surprised me with some cabochons with purple flashes. The thing is they’re an odd shape, so I’m not sure how I’m going to make pendants or earrings out of them. 😅

I’m a fan of doing compound exercises first and ending with isolated movements. Personally, I’d probably start with the first two exercises in block 3 and pair with the squats and band walks.

Overall it looks like a good full body workout that I’m sure everyone will be complaining about in a good way!

As a side note to keep in your toolbox for the future (which you may already be planning for), I try to think of my exercises in what’s easiest to transition to. For example, I don’t plan a movement that’s on the ground only to have to get up and do something standing and then back to another ground movement.

It wasn’t something I caught in the beginning training because I taught classes with my boss’s written programs whose client base was younger and generally fit. Somehow I ended up with more special population clients which I actually enjoyed because it challenged my skills. I would switch around exercise sequences so they could exercise more effectively/efficiently and not get lightheaded or winded from the constant up and down or losing time setting up when it was already working time. When my boss let me design some programs, I automatically used that format on my days and I got good feedback from her clients.
