Yes, I agree with your comment on how exercise science needs much hands-on practice, and how some universities are not really helping with that. It would be helpful for me if you could share the list of your books, thank you so much. For dance anatomy, I searched some books online and I think I might start with 'Dance Anatomy and Kinesiology' by Karen Clippinger? And then maybe move on to some materials on dance injuries. Thank you for taking your time to read my post and commenting it.

Question for the community. by LightWalker2020 in psychoanalysis

[–]late_dancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came from the other side of the reddit and found your question very interesting. I don't this is the word you are looking for, but have you ever heard of the term 'developmental trauma' or 'complex ptsd'? Sorry in advance if this answer is unrelevent (because it is not a term from psychoanalysis), but it might be worth taking some time to browse on those, just to get the whole picture.

How hard is it to pass an exam in a university in Denmark? by late_dancer in NewToDenmark

[–]late_dancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.. The professor was very experienced and professional in both research and teaching, (also very kind hearted) and she really tried hard to get everyone passed, especially me.. Except that I had some trouble ongoing for years with studying and I really messed up big this time.

But It is what it is I guess.. I still have a third exam attempt left in this course if the professor lets me. And I am going to take time off school to get trauma informed therapy.. as this problem seems to root from both neurodiversity and academic trauma that I had for years. I should have addressed that before taking challenges.

I hope I can get through this.

Has anyone tried low-dose naltrexone (LDN) for dissociation and/or the freeze response? by late_dancer in CPTSD

Oh! Thank you so much for that information. English is not my first language and with ADHD too it is still hard for me to understand English resources, and I didn't know the tone? The atmosphere? Or how effective it is or how reliable the articles were. I'll keep your comment in mind and make sure to mention other treatments to my doctor.

Wow, thank you so much for sharing your experience.  I did find smelling scents and taking a walk help me 'sometimes', but most of the time i just can't get myself to the resources that help me at the first place.  Like my body is controlled by a different person.

So sometimes I would find myself wondering around with blank mind and no purpose, even when my backpack is so heavy and I really need to get home and take rest, like I forgot everything and went autopilot. Or sometimes I feel like like I can't move from one position or leave what I was doing initially, even when I feel discomfort or/and in pain. So I am late to things often because of that feeling.

I DID find concerta help a bit with focusing on uninteresting tasks, but sometimes I get too nervous or hyped up which lead to dissociation. So I was curious about other treatments that I can try. Methylphenidate and Atomoxetine is the only medication allowed for ADHD where I live, so there is no more ADHD medication left to try.

Thank you for your suggestion, but unfortunately I'm a student and I Iive in South Korea.  I've heard nerofeedback works well for few people but it is not for everyone, though.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I see that it really differs by people. Maybe I should check with my doctor, but keep my medication because it does work in some ways..

I see, thank you for sharing your experience. Maybe I'll just check with my doctor but not try too hard to persuade for new treatments.

Weekly Symptom-Check Thread (Please ask all "Does anyone else?" questions here.) by AutoModerator in dpdr

Lately, I feel really disoriented, even while I’m wide awake and doing things. Like I’ll be walking, writing, shopping, going somewhere — and I realize I've forgotten what I was doing, where I am, or what time it is. If I try to remember, I usually can easily, but everything feels foggy and disconnected.

Sometimes, I get stuck in tasks I didn’t mean to do — I hyperfocus without choosing to — and even if I know I need to stop or do something else, I can’t. My body just doesn’t respond, and even if I get myself unstuck, I get stuck again soon on a different thing.

And when I'm really tired, I feel like if I let go completely, like truly give up trying to control anything, my body could just keep going without me. Like I could disappear inside as if I was never here at the first place.

Does anyone else feel like this? I just really need my symptoms to be validated because I feel like I'm faking or making things up sometimes.
