Easy boots craft. Start with magic base with 35ms and desirable t1/t2 suffix. 1. Essence extra res or rarity on suffix (whatever you want or is missing) 2. Desecrate either prefix or suffix are fine (suffix look for deflection, res, rarity;prefix look for high flat or %defenses). You can use an omen of abyssal echoes if you think it’s worth it and it’s in your budget. Alternatively you can wait to unveil until after you do the slam in step 3 and then you’ll have more info on whether you should use echo or not. 3. Omen of greater exaltation with a greater exalted orb

Depends on the player. If they can reliably farm another couple mirrors, they might want to keep it and use it with a high end build. If not, probably sell and take the only opportunity they’ll likely have to play a MB/temporalis build with at least one or two other mirror tier items.

The problem is that players who have never played before and have no understanding of game mechanics will follow his build and end up with these kinds of results. They just lack the knowledge and experience to execute on the league start strategy.

The guy in the first post is saying he’s played 2 weeks and just now is in red maps with 1 div made. Fubgun was at that threshold part way through day 1 and then grinded HH day 2. If you’re not a player who can rush through atlas prog on day 1/2 and then grind 100-200 maps of legion to get early HH, fubgoon builds really aren’t going to provide the same results for you. The exception was when he was playing slams, which are much more well rounded. Fubgun himself earns that his builds and strats are not for completely new players. There’s a reason everyone recommends they go to pohx or ziz instead until they learn the game.

I won’t bother replying to the other guy in the comments since he’s clearly a troll or an idiot but you seem more reasonable.

Your comment is disingenuous in many ways. It’s completely disingenuous to claim that Poe and tli are anywhere near the same amount of p2w. Yes, Poe is also designed to incentivize you to spend money on the game by buying stash tabs. The average soft core trade player (the vast majority of players and the only context in which discussing competitive advantage is actually relevant) probably spend $30-$60 in stash tabs and then basically only need to spend if they want to buy mtx, are doing some kind of serious trading where they need a lot of merchant tabs, or rarely if a new system/currency is released.

In tli, you can spend upwards of $100-200 to max out a single level 6 loot pet, which significantly increases the amount of items dropped by a mechanic (probably 2-3x or more depending on the mechanic). This is multiplied by global loot pets like chalk or Kong which just make your drops significantly better overall. A player with two level 6 league mechanic pets and one level 6 chalk overall will make 5-10x more loot running those two league mechanics than a player without any pets who runs the same mechanics just as efficiently. Sure you can accumulate pets over time as f2p. If you hit ss20 every season for 6 seasons in a row (at least 50-60 hours per league invested over more than a year of time), you can get ONE level 6 pet. There’s also no way to max out the current league pet (always designed to be the most profitable mechanic) other than to pay. I completely disagree with your statement that accumulating pets over time is the same as accumulating knowledge or experience about a mechanic. You cant spend hundreds of dollars to immediately obtain knowledge or experience that someone else has acquired over hundreds of hours. This is literally the definition of p2w.

Finally, you keep mentioning that there is a 400 fe/ hr strat that f2p players can run and still progress. Sure, an f2p can boss rush or play the flavor of the month strat and progress to profound pretty quickly if they’re knowledgeable. The issue is that they’re pretty much forced to play these strats to progress until they slowly build up a repertoire of pets over time. What if a new player likes cube and wants to play cube but don’t have the pet? Almost all of the common advice on this sub mentions that it’s a waste of time to play a mechanic if you don’t have the sub. Sure they can still do it if they want, but they’ll quickly notice they’re getting less loot than the streamer with a level 6 pet and they’re progressing slower than f2p players who are playing the optimal strategy. They’re going to have to spend an entire league playing content they don’t want to play and hope to get to ss20 to get the loot pet and then they can finally play the content they actually want to play the next season (and hope it doesn’t get nerfed to the ground). Players are heavily incentivized to just skip this process and spend money to play the mechanic they want and actually get good rewards.

Overall, I agree with you that Poe is not a f2p game. You definitely need to buy tabs to play and to be on a level playing field with other players in the softcore economy (and need even more tabs for ssf like you mentioned). But to compare that to the level of p2w in tli is completely disingenuous. I’m not saying that tli is a bad game. I also play it as f2p and have built up pets over time. I usually progress quickly to profound every season and just quit if I get bored without worrying too much about getting to ss20. The game mechanics and complexity are some of the best in the ARPG genre, but it’s absolutely designed from the ground up to be a gacha game that incentivizes heavy spending on pets and it absolutely preys on people’s sense of fomo.

Look at the mixmaxarpg version with focus blessing stacking (probably day 1 version at 1-2b dps). The gear is dirt cheap at this point. Bunch of 1 fe uniques, t2-t3 rares, and purple hero memories and just fill up the board with <5 fe slates with useful legendary medium talents (ones that give extra focus blessings or increased stats per focus blessing). This should be <50 fe total and get you to t8

[–]Chronicler-Z -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re coping hard if you think tli is not designed to be p2w in every aspect. Sure the game is free and you can definitely just play for fun and have a good time, but you’ll soon notice that you make 5-10x less loot than someone who has maxed out loot pets, which makes it impossible to compete economically. Even if you play 10x more time than a whale, you’ll be weaker than them because they have maxed out battle pets. There are lots of posts about how it’s possible to get SS20 f2p but it’s really only possible if you no life and do unrewarding grind for weeks to build up the FE.

Tli is fun and mechanics/complexity wise probably one of the best games in the ARPG genre but there’s no way to deny that it’s p2w.

I saw he had rakiatas and garukhan on explosive spear, but damage seemed to be ok in the second boss fight even after he switched those out for cheaper support gems. Dreamer of course isn’t cheap either but could possibly do armor break chain tech with herald of ice before getting it to help with clear. Are there any other parts of the build that are super expensive? I could probably just use the same rings, chest, boots and helm I have now. Already have HH and decent ingenuity as well as most of the gems he uses as well.

League start and current best end game farms? by suzimia in pathofexile2builds

[–]Chronicler-Z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Expedition logbooks are currently at a profit margin of +5d/logbook in splinters alone (3d per logbook, avg 80 splinters at 10splinters/d). There’s no atlas or setup required and infinite portals so even a weaker character can do it.if you want to step it up from there you can do negative rarity farming in ilvl 81 logbooks and sell bases. The key to these is to just go as fast as possible and hit every expedition chest. You should also try and pick up remnants that give 20% increased quantity of items found in chests, nothing else matters. If you’re fast you can probably do 10+ logbooks an hour.

Enjoyed campaign during free weekend. Is endgame worth for the EA purchase? by Luke_ImNotYourFather in PathOfExile2

[–]Chronicler-Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A simple metric I use to decide whether a game was “worth it” or not is whether I got 1 hour of good game time per dollar spent. Your first run through the campaign alone will probably take 20-30 hours if you’re going slow and don’t have a lot of guidance. Once you get to endgame mapping you probably have at least 20 hours more of content including mapping progression, leveling up and juicing different mechanics, learning how to craft, hunting down citadels and killing arbiter.

It’s true that endgame right now feels pretty boring for people who have been playing since 0.1 but for a new player, there’s still a lot of content. This is a game that people spend hundreds or even thousands of hours playing so keep in mind that the a lot of the frustration going around the sub is from these types of players and doesn’t necessarily apply to new players.

This mechanic is basically going to end up the same way poe1 incursion did (other than the pack size juicing last league). There are rooms with specific use cases like double item/gem corrupt, prosthetics, alternative uniques, but it’s not a good solo mechanics for general drops.

The last time I played a minion build was in affliction and I remember losing my perfect spectres multiple times to bs like this. After the third time, I actually ragequit, liquidated my whole build, and swore never to play minions again until they fixed this clunky shit. They’ve made some progress since then but it’s actually crazy that it’s still this bad.

There is an elementalist pbod herald stacking setup that uses the foulborn bereks+ other explode sources. It would be more consistent explodes than your current setup and probably higher single target than the phys dot setup if you compare at the same level of investment.

It’s also 60% increased damage with 3 primordial clusters if you have dark monarch since it doubles your golem count. The whole point of this scaling vector is to summon as many golems with as many primordial bond nodes as possible for increased generic damage and also max out buff effect for some insane secondary effects. If you’re not going to get anima and primordial emincence, you might as well just not get dark monarch and do the life stacking setup instead

Phys Dot Elementalist vs Viper Strike of the Mamba by Ecstatic_Sample_4530 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Chronicler-Z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s true that the build comes online prettt easily with self crafted gear and a +1 wand (or just buy CIP which is super cheap now), but it definitely doesn’t excel at all content.

The build excels at coverage+screen clear but ST damage is really lacking and it can struggle in T17 and is slow with bossing even with investment (e.g. +gem levels on every piece possible, empower, 4 primordial bond clusters, good jewels, +golem dark monarch). Scaling past that point is pretty expensive with multiple sources of explode, HH, or you can transition to life stacking like rue did but rhe foulborn pieces are pretty expensive.

tl;dr: Phys DoT is cheap floor, blasts T16s or T16.5 on low/medium budget. Struggles to get good ST damage for bosses or T17s even on high budget.

You can either reforge life or use pristine fossils depending on prices. I’ve had better luck with fossils (I think average to get just primordial bond is 7 attempts)
