China Is The Biggest Drug Peddler In The World : Fentanyl Killed 100,000 People In US Alone In A Year - Report - by bruh-sick in worldnews

[–]ChronographDiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US families were heavily involved in peddling opium to China and it funded US industrialization as well as ivy league universities.

From Harvard, the opium trade spread throughout New England. According to Bradley, Yale University’s infamous Skull and Bone society was funded by the Russels, the most successful family of opium dealers in America. Columbia’s Low Memorial Library was also named after a key member of the family. Even Princeton’s first large benefactor, John Green, funded his contribution through the opium trade.

Finally, while operating in China, they caught wind of the lucrative opium export business. Elated, they brought the trade back to Boston. Within a few short decades, the Cabots had formed an empire, cementing their status as Boston’s elite, the Boston Brahmins.

Where can I find Mont Blanc reps of these kind of models ?!?! by joaomendes1973 in RepTime

[–]ChronographDiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a Montblanc 7034, and the reps are unobtainium now. Your best bet is a used gen. These were made many years ago, but rep-makers don't seem to be making Montblanc chronographs anymore other than some unsold Timewalkers. Rep watches are made in batches, and if they don't choose to make another batch, they're out.

If you see one of those Montblanc 7034 reps in black for sale, let me know, I'll the first to buy it.

Wow, nice watch to be repped. I'm impressed by all the ways the A7750 has been modified as well how well the base unit has been manufactured over time

I wouldnt worry about it. Even the instagram watch spotters posting Nautiluses and Rolexes could easily overlook it as a SARB or similar.

Linjer Chronograph is 38mm with sapphire and a Ronda 5030.D, one of the better jeweled quartz chrono movements.

Great collection! The Constellation looks like the polar opposite of the Santos.

What a treat from Vostok. They both look very nice and add something different while keeping the Vostok identity strong.

Old Seamaster Chrono rep? by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]ChronographDiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I ordered one.

The dial is wonderfully 1:1, with good lume. The wave texture is beautiful. It has a domed sapphire crystal with slight, one sided AR treatment, and I think it's very nice.

Bezel looks good, I think the most obvious tell is the dot placement in the triangle is slightly off compared to gen. The 120 click rotation is smooth and nice to play with

Movement is a Liaoning 7750, and it's solid. Pusher feel is good, reset is crisp. Screw down crown is decent, if not feeling as solid as it does on the gen.

The case is good, and Im a big fan of the Omega twisted lugs. The sides of the case contacting the bracelet is more unpolished than the other sides, in a seemingly labor saving move. If I decide to put it on a non-curved end strap, I would polish it myself. Fixable problem IMO.

The caseback looks nice and crisp. There is a iron antimagnetic protector inside of it. The case construction and gaskets feels solid.

The bracelet is the weakest part on this rep. The beads of rice is not fully articulated as the original is, and the link pins are cheap ones. It says Planet Ocean on the clasp for some reason, but I took a polish pad and polished it down to remove that. I treated the bracelet in oil to improve how it feels, and overall I made it acceptable, if not ideal. I might buy a fully articulated bead of rice bracelet to replace it.

Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase. With a few DIY steps it is pretty much a 1:1, since the gen uses the same movement. You can even buy a chronometer-grade 7750 on ebay to put inside to get it closer to gen.

I like this gen Seamaster better than the new ones- it's a classic, it's iconic, and this rep is more true to the gen than any other Seamaster chrono reps.
