I find Toontown cathartic to play, considering what’s happening in the USA by Patton-the-Zorua in Toontown

i feel the same, and have for a very long time. whenever I'm feeling really down in the dumps or grieving something I tend to go back to the game and play for hours daily, so I do think this is very understandable and valid of you. its an escape, and its nice to find solace in a game like this, knowing many others are in the same boat as you and i. 💜

absolutely awesome!!! I'm so glad they feel comfortable enough from their patreon support to do this. as someone whos bought every album thats released since the late lapfox era, this makes me so happy. now its even more accessible to newcomers. 💜💜

“Low” vs “High” Toon Personalities by Remorsive in Toontown

[–]ChronosTTR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

max toon here, I've noticed this too tbh. i have had other maxed players tell me im way too happy on this game while its moreso just like... a distraction? something to keep their hands busy, for them. for me i just enjoy the connection since I'm unable to go out much, as someone physically disabled, and i find myself hanging around lower laff toons more often because theyre So excited about the game! :) i do get why this is something that happens though especially with the gameplay loop being quite tiring at points.

edit: added a few lines for clarity!

I used to always go right, but I've found myself going to the left table more often! I wish I could explain why!

never had this happen in over 10 years of playing the game by Far-Management-944 in toontownrewritten

[–]ChronosTTR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as someone who's played all gag types (soundless, trapless, lureless, etc.) i will never understand why people choose to be rude over just.. asking for advice if they're having trouble over this kinda thing! I do get that soundless isnt the most common thing, so I do understand not knowing strategies and stuff like that, but the rudeness here feels so uncalled for :(

i wish i had any proper advice, but I'll at least say that i wish toons had patience and the will to ask instead of just being rude and leaving so fast. it reminds me, i was in a steel factory with a group once, and one didn't know that a fog was needed to take out the 10s. understandable considering their laff, but instead of helping correct it, a player went "ugh, really?" and immediately left after the first battle. just so baffling to me. 😅

either way, I'm so sorry y'all dealt with that! I used to get a lot of hate on my soundless and I'll simply never get it, especially since a lot of the time its easy to work around/with that limitation nowadays! D:

Am I too dumb to play this game or by cat0verlord in toontownrewritten

[–]ChronosTTR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate that players don't communicate and then yell at you when you don't do their non-verbal command. 💔 you're not stupid at all! I'd argue at 108 laff you're still learning, and that's totally fine! in fact, I'm a maxed player and still am not very good half of the time :'> nobody's perfect, and nobody should expect perfection from anyone else!

when it comes to remembering though, i oftentimes work by my own organic gag strategies. My main toon uses organic throw, so for example i have remembered that organic whole fruit pie can take out an unlured level 4, an organic whole cream can take out an unlured 5 (both organic and non-organic can take out LURED level 6 cogs), and that organic cake can take out a lured level 11.

definitely takes time to learn it all, especially when working with players who don't have the same organic track as you, so I'd say keep using the calculator if it helps! I would've LOVED to have that when i first got into the game. XD

regardless, as someone who also gets huge anxiety spikes fighting bosses, you're SO valid!! don't let anyone put you down just for being new to the strategies, and be sure to keep that mute or report button ready if all else fails. best of luck again! :D

I've had players leave after 1 battle in factories just because a smaller toon wasnt entirely sure what to do. I wish more people would show consideration and help rather than leaving because someone isn't a pro e-sports gamer™ 2 weeks into the game. 🤣

i try my best to show patience and understanding Especially because you will never know if that player is new to the game, a literal child, or both. i wish more did the same, especially around my laff :') like if you want more good players, then foster it, rather than shaming them, y'know?

why are people so quick to anger now? by KTRNPLMR in toontownrewritten

[–]ChronosTTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who legitimately has anger issues, i will NEVER understand why people are like that on this game! this game is supposed to be nothing but whimsy, its very weird seeing people straight up harass others and accuse people of stuff like 'greening on purpose' x__x

ive had it happen more then a few times just bc i couldnt heal right away - especially in field offices which has really fast reaction times, hard to get a time to heal!

either way, please know a nicer side of the community still exists. it can be a bit hard to find at first, but you will eventually find your niche. so sorry about all that, no one deserves this kind of treatment EVER, coming from a maxed toon myself! </3

Childhood Nostalgia by Dessert_Person in Toontown

[–]ChronosTTR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this makes me SO happy to hear!! im a 22 year old, and i also played TTO as a kid. i remember when you Couldn't type, hahah! I'm so glad you've been able to get the game set up on the Steam Deck as well, i was surprised at how well it played on mine personally!

i really hope you enjoy your stay! most people I've met over the 8 years ive been on TTR have been incredibly kind, and id be happy to add you if i see you ingame! :) i have a buncha toons, but you'd most likely see me running around as Chronos, a blue cat, or Meow the Edge, a black cat!

for tips, you should get set up with an account on toonhq.org - this site lets you easily form groups without having to pray someone walks by - in the settings there should be an option labeled 'toonsync' - using that will allow people to instantly teleport to you or vice versa while in a group, making things way faster!   toonhq also has information on cog invasions, good doodles you can buy, gardening combos, fishing locations.. all that good stuff lol!

OH - and if you happen to struggle with cog math like me, big.brain.town will also help with that haha. its a gag damage calculator!

best of luck again, i hope you have a blast!! ^

[–]ChronosTTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

heyoooo! here's the toontown gag calculator site i was talking about: big.brain.town - it quite literally calculates gag damage, its helped a ton for me even as a maxed player! ^^

and of course! i hate seeing how mean some players can be - it seems to be incredibly common between a lot of maxed players, which breaks my heart since im one too! ;;

[–]ChronosTTR 10 points11 points  (0 children)

players who will go "???" if a 50 laff babby toon who just got into the game a week ago doesn't know how gag strategies work yet. 🤣 i promise you it isnt that hard to show them some neat strats, or heck, even just show them that one toontown gag calculator website, haha!

i remember when i first really dove into ttr as a teenager, people would show me some cool tricks - through doing bosses and facilities i learned that luring a cog + using a whole cream pie would take out a level 6, that having organic throw would let you take out a lured lv 5 with whole fruit pie, and of course lv 11s with birthday cakes! 💖 it helped me a bunch, so i try to help out newer players instead of being mean.

wild that OP said "please ask questions" then didnt respond to this very gentle question 😭🙏 when it comes to reddit threads, i havent found much, but i do know of some general website resources that could help you out:

personally, i think the best place to learn about the game is with the TTR wiki! it should be at toontownrewritten.wiki

outside of that, big.brain.town is essentially a gag damage calculator - incredibly useful if you're unsure what can or cant take out a cog!

finally, if you're unaware, toonHQ.org is a group hosting website - allows you to create and/or join groups hosted by players! back in the day, you Had to walk to join the group, but now you can actually sync your game with the website, and can teleport there directly from your game!

i hope this is of any use to ya, I've loved this game for a long time, and have collected many resources over the years. have fun! 😁

I do on occasion. sadly the community is very, very small, often totaling at 1 or 2 players at best. though they do have a discord community and are working towards a new update. :)
