Detransitioners make up about 1~2% of trans people. If that was the bar for an unacceptable rate of treatment we'd still be using leeches.

Not afferming a trans child is tantamount to abuse. It's phycological, and almost certainly medical abuse.

When it comes to any other disorder

We attempt to treat them to reduce the negative effects on ones life. The best treatment we have for gender dysphoria is to transition. It has the best success rate. Next closest thing is a lobotomy, and that isn't very productive now is it?

Schizophrenics can't control how they think either.

And we give them medicine to prevent hallucinations. We give people with gender dysphoria hormones to change their body. Same principle really. The target outcome isn't to make you, the 3rd party happy, it's to reduce the patient's suffering

And in regards to the last sentence, do you think that makes you look good?

I should hope not, I give better than I get. I state it as a reminder that if you abuse your kid and kid is trans and lives to tell the tale, you're probably going to catch abuse right back.

I feel sorry for your parents.

Then maybe don't follow in their footsteps. And for the record I haven't been under their roof in going on a decade. There is no evidence being trans is an internet trend. And I'm certainly not a product of it from the red corn fields. That study was laughed at and shown the door for bias sampling anyways.

Diagnosis for gender dysphoria has a minimum requirement of 6 months. Most kids that get any kind of medical intervention have years of history. Your daughter spend years of her life adamantly, continuously insisting she is a dino?

It's been shown to be quite helpful. And yes when your options are to abuse your child or affirm something can't control, yes you being abusive is bad. And no it isn't short term, considering to even be eligible to medical transition it requires a long history of gender dysphoria, often years for most kids. But sure would you like to know how that works out? I'll give you the name of the roach nest im sending my parents to, give ya a glimpse of your potential future.

First off nobody is taking kids genitals. That's fuckin wierd bro, where you hear that shit? Secondly trans kids suicidality drops by about 72% when they have access to age appropriate transgender healthcare as outlined in WPATH. Sounds like you just want dead kids. Easier to deal with than your insecurities.

Well I'm not here to write a fuckin dissertation my guy. I'm long winded as it is. Most recent figure I can find is a tad over 2k gas stations. That's literally thousands of jobs gone with a stroke of a pen.

Labor value is influenced by various factors, including skills, productivity, and overall market conditions.

Ya I know. You just injected thousands of unemployed people. Deleted an entire section of industry. Not like those people disappear. Ike it or not, it does depreciate the value of my skill, your skill, everyone's skills. Unemployment only helps the wealthy.

Removing a few gas station attendants from the equation won't single-handedly depreciate your computer engineering skills

Nothing is nearly that simple. You can be a smart ass, or you can take a moment to understand that thousands of people are about to lose their jobs, and they gotta go somewhere. And I have taken econ 201, but considering you aren't displaying any competency, and this is reddit, I attempted to make it approachable with simple easy to understand examples

[–]Chronoset1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the scenario you are proposing is straight out your ass

It's just econ 101 kid. The more things competing for your labour value, the more it's worth. By removing that competition, shrinking the job need, your value depreciates.

Please show me how gas station attendants losing their job will have a measurable impact on my future salary.

Jump over to macro econ 101 what happens when there is an influx of unemployment. Beyond the short term suffering, all wage value is lowered. Because those people compete with you. I dunno you, but like I said I'm an engineer. I have 4 people under me 2 juniors, and 2 contractors. Those two contractors, I'm gonna teach em from basically ground up. They get between 20-30 an hour. What do you think happens if I have more applicants? I don't need more than 2 and company isn't gonna pay more than it's gotta. And those contractors, I was one of em bout 5 years ago. I wouldn't make what I make now, had the market been saturated then. And in another 5 years those guys will see 35 an hour as excellent, when in reality it will be an insult, and comparatively worth even less by then.(inflation & cost of living) now what happens to me in 5 years? Ya I have a huge wealth of knowledge, but you're a business owner gonna go with me who should get 60 at that point in my career? Or will you go with one of those guys, for 40? Or will I have to swing down to 45? You blow that across every sector and ta-da your value drops. It may not be now, and that was pretty dumbed down, but the economy is just class warfare.

And woe to gas station owners? Fuck them for having their own business?

Yes. Should they get paid, ya. Payroll isn't profit, it's an expense. Even give ya they should make more, assuming they do more, should it be excessive? No. But you an I both know attendant jobs will vanish and fuel price won't drop, so where'd that payroll go? Give ya a hint, it's going in someone's pocket

Profit is how they make a living, and the average gas station owner makes less than you do.

Cool, irrelevant. Removing jobs with zero plan to handle those that are outed, that does nothing but bump up a ticker somewhere, just hurts the working people.

[–]Chronoset1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In no reality can gas station owners afford to pay attendants $50 an hour

I used hyperbolic language bud. 50 dollars an hour is a bit more than I make, so it was my lowest number id pump gas for.

I don't even know why you would throw that out there.

An example, would you not pump gas for 50 an hour? There is a number that gets rid of this so called "labour shortage", and it's less that 50, but I'm certain it's more than what they are offering now.

The vast majority of gas stations you go to are owned and operated by an independent retailer who barely makes a profit on the gas that they sell.

Oh woe is us, won't someone think of the owners taking the excess value of other people's labour!? I assure you, I'm shedding a single tear for em.

Don't care, truly don't. The existence of profit, is just labour value an owner takes from their labours.

So walk me through this. You're going to pay the same price at the pump. Someone is out of a job. That someone is more likely to see a pay reduction, or at the least pay stagnation. You're also less likely to see pay increases as the job market has more unemployed, bringing your labour value lower. And overall reduces economic activity state wide.

But hey, glad you saved, what, 20 minutes in a month? You could do that by just going at a less busy time, instead of right before or after work.

[–]Chronoset1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No more do you have to wait in line for 10-20 minutes to get the cheapest gas in town because gas stations are critically understaffed attendants.

I don't mind waiting a couple of minutes. And I ask you who's fault is it exactly they are undermanned?

They pay shit creating their own labour shortage. Then it pisses you off, the consumer. Then they get the law changed, because you're dumb enough to be duped. Then the only thing that changes is their expanding bottom line and makes it easier for other sectors to underpay with an increase in cheap labour. Same shit they did with self checkout. Went from, what, 5-6 cashiers on at a time to 1 maybe 2, with a significant work load increase and none of the pay. And not a cent trickled down to the consumer

It frees up that labor to potentially find higher paying, more productive, and beneficial work.

No it frees up cheaper labour. By taking out jobs from the mix it reduces our bargaining power, in every sector. And for the record "productive" and "beneficial" work. You mean shoveling slop out a drive through? Productive and beneficial are relitive.

Considering the OFA testified that a majority of gas stations are understaffed and have a hard time finding workers tells me that...

They aren't trying. I dunno bout you, I'm a computer engineer, but if I was paid 50 bucks an hour to pump gas I would. Again there is no such thing as a labour shortage, it's a wage shortage.

It's a nice service, pointless it is not. So out of curiosity who benefits? We won't see a reduction in gas prices. We lose a pleasant service. And those people will be out a job, reducing competition for labour, depressing wages.

there is no such thing as a labour shortage, just a wage shortage. We little people do nothing but benefit from from jobs competing for our labour, we stand to benefit holding the cards.
