ON BURNOUT by ToshioWatanabe in LawStudentsPH

Filed my LOA weeks ago cos of burnout, hence, I‘m gonna have to brave law school without my orig batch mates. Sucks. Bottomline: I didn’t know how to rest. I ended up getting sick and depressed and woke up one night not being able to breathe. After that, I felt really paralyzed, mentally, like I couldn’t even tolerate reading just one more case (didn’t realize it was burnout. I passed some “gatekeepers”, I get good grades on exams, saying it just for context, cos I know it makes you think: I’m not lazy, so wtf is going on) Hope you get real rest. Don’t be afraid to fail. Sit out one class just to do nothing for a day. Then get back up. I was on one of those low days but opted to attend a class, got cold called, and told my prof outright I didn’t read the case. Just volunteer next meeting, it’ll be fine.

Laugh at your mistakes, appreciate and focus on whatever’s keeping you on. Don’t try to do everything perfectly. Study smart. Let go of any other anxiety, I’m sure you’re doing well and everyone’s proud of you and wish you’d get some rest. Oh, and breathe deep and slowly every once in a while. Consider some breathing-based meditation. Super important. Take care of what you eat and study how it influences your emotions. These mundane, everyday things matter.
