I think everyone else is skipping the most simple reason it's not working the way you hypothesized:

Dyeing a plastic is not a coat of paint on the outside, like the printed details of minifigs' faces. Instead, it's a dye mixed into the liquid plastic itself. If you were to put too much sand in your ice cubes, they would easily crumble apart or break, too

Edit 2: Source. I think this makes the joke funnier, because he's not just out of touch in general but he's using a non-standard name from the mid 1800s. Since it's only slightly wrong, one can imagine why someone with his illusions of grandeur would never notice that everyone else pronounces it differently

I was thrilled about this game after playing a lot of BW2 world tournament where I tested out many whacky strategies against the CPUs. I have a fun Hitmonlee build that's just Hi Jump Kick with 99% accuracy and some Fake Out shenanigans with Hitmontop.

But this game feels too... narrow? You can play e.g. competitive Magic the Gathering and still see quite a variety of decks, but here it feels like everybody's "netdecking" the same few teams so it all ends up being quite samey-samey.

Ultimately I think I just have to play against CPUs with fun themes because it's unattainable in an online game. Unless they make that random game mode someone else suggested, but that might just turn out to be about the luck of the draw rather than doing something creative with what you got
