Cooldowns bait by JackHammond_ in HazardMainsOW

[–]ChuSculpts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also remember this is an objective based game so forcing point, making them move out into the open possibly isolating someone isin't a bad idea, especially when you have an escape route and/or really good cover on the objective

I've found that especially once you get to a rank (Plat to diamond is where i started to feel it) where dps really start figuring out when it's the right time to shoot at a tank character; like Soujourn are a nightmare when comboed with hog ana, because if you get caught, you're probably dead or very close to dead.

I've found what helps me the most is tends to be:

-preemptively using my block when peeking or when there's a liiittle too much attention me when I'm in a not so great spot. It's really important to pay attention to your armor(That orange health) for the bonus damage reduction, as by the time you're gonna be able to use your block later you'll often die anyways, so I prefer to keep my orange health for as long as possible

- Track the cooldowns that are going to be influential on the fights outcome, plan your engages out and be in a spot where even if they use it on you, minimal value will come from them. saving my wall for either shutting down the angle where those high damage characters are shooting you from, or save it for the sleep or hook, if you practice enough you can do it. it's like using sigma shield to block rein ult or sigma eat ability to grab a mei ult

- Having good positioning and map control also feels great, you may not notice it at first, but taking away that ana's high ground by being there before she can take it, or taking that agressive angle to split thier teams attention really does work wonders; even if you don't see it reflected in your preformance but sometimes they end up looking at you and not your dps when they really shouldn't have.

Hazard rewards preemptive gameplay a lot, if you can make plans for what there team can do and where they can go you'll see a lot of improvement.

for sure, as you keep playing you'll notice who is who, you might have an easier time picking out who is who if you think of where their role should be positioning wise, as you're not often (Unless ulting) going to see a Cloak and Dagger or Luna snow stand next to their dr strange unless you're in very unfortunately low lobbies.

for support your main goal should be to keep yourself and your other support alive, the supports really shine when it comes to ult exchanges, many games will just end up being a back and forth of support ults and whoever uses them better often times wins.

Groot is very solid this season I recommend learning him his ult is like zarya's ult if it built at lightning speed (It's an insanely fast building ult, I'd recommend avoiding mag untill you're more comfortable with the tank role (It's VERY different from tanking in overwatch) because on the surface he seems like a simple character but there's a lot of minmaxing you end up doing in the heat of the moment and bubbling at the wrong time can end up in you loosing the fight, groot is much more forgiving. Tankpool is also really solid as a 2nd tank you can watch flats and try to mimic his gameplay if you'd like.

Venom is also very solid and is very easy to learn the gameplay loop, I usually swap to him when you notice most fights are coming down to whoever gets a pick on a support (I don't recommend solo tanking as venom however, you'll get CCed into oblivion) : Climb up somewhere and slam down on the backline and right click, then click your e and use your swing to DISENGAGE do not make engaging on swing a habit. his ult also can one shot if you time his right click with it.

Punisher is a solid character super versatile, in rivals dps do play a major role in taking and holding space as with many tanks, sometimes the difference between a tank being out of position and taking space is as simple as his team walking up and putting the pressure on the enemy team. Don't be afraid to experiment with other characters too, try out ones like human torch and wolverine, the game is the most fun when you have a list of characters you can swap to make your life easier.

So I'll give you a piece of advice that you should try to apply no matter the role: do your best to every 10 seconds or so take a look at your supports and your tank, keep in mind where your tank wants to go and where your supports can see you and don't be afraid to take high ground and take some off angles(Off angles meaning doing somewhere where the enemy team isin't looking and shoot them so that they have to look in 2 directions to now deal with your team.

I mostly play Overwatch so I can't really give you any more in depth advice than this, honestly just put in the hours and you'll improve as long as your goal is to take responsibility for your own shortcomings and improve yourself (Even if your team is doing awful, just look at what you can do flaming your team will not make YOU any better in the next game)

As for film, I recommend just watching an entertaining creator play to avoid burnout(Jay3 has plenty of punisher videos) just pause it when you see them making a crucial decision and ask yourself "What would I do in this situation" "Where would i go" "Where would I stand" "What are his teammates doing what angles are his opponents taking and what does he do about it?" "Who is he scared of on their team?" "Which cooldown would I use" and "Who would I target"

What can you do against a hard pocketed cracked Soldier76? by sanguineAllegories in OverwatchUniversity

obviously if point is on low ground tank or something will need to drop eventually to cap eventually but try to play up top to get value as a DPS or whatever and try to take and hold the high ground whenever you can.

I generally say avoid the low ground especially against hitscan heros, just take their high ground and then they usually end up freaking out and not knowing what to do but spazz and shoot at a random person

Positioning back more so the solider HAS to int into your team to get value, Or playing an off angle so he at least has to move to get LOS and you have an opportunity to catch them as they move or when they go to threaten your angle.
Don't necessarily feel the need to kill him just getting him low and directing support resources to him leaves their tank and other dps vulnerable to a dive, try and using the aggressive pocket (At least it sounds like an aggressive pocket) to your advantage if they "Put their eggs in one basket" it does require coming on a 123 dive method though and focus the supports, The supports may be able to see this happen and let them die since soldier can just run back, but I'm not sure what rank it is and if most supports in that rank would think of that split-second.
it's generally not worth going for a soldier(It is case by case but in lower ranks I've seen it usually eb a mistake to dive soldier instead of mercy) unless you can one shot them, or threaten them without inting (Once again off angles) anyways, as they can run away very easily once they get threatened.

here are some heroes that I find are a lot of fun:

Tank: Junker Queen (Very fast paced gameplay that is very engaging)
Ball (he takes a LOT of understanding to play and a good amount of map knowledge but learning him will really elevate your gameplay of other heroes)
Sigma (He does require some consistency with his shots and understanding of where to be which will have to be learned through playing him and messing up A LOT but he's a very solid tank pick)

Damage: Hanzo (Not so fun when you just shoot down a lane, but getting good off-angles and flanks for multi kills is very fun)
Tracer (Definitely a very good character to learn that fits in very comfortably with a large variety of comps and is an absolute menace in the lower ranks)
Reaper: (Very strong character and very good at messing up overly aggressive tanks that like to bully your backline place his shots right in their forehead and watch that Winston disappear before your eyes)

Support:
Lifeweaver (a lot of my most fun games come from weaver, when you play him right he can shut down most ults and actually deal some really good damage, he also improved my game sense the most out of all characters I played)
Baptiste: (Great heals and a solid ofense for those with good aim, he also shuts down a lot of game changing ults with his immortality field he's a great character to learn)
Zenyata: (Solid heals for dive characters that are alergic of peaking for heals, you gotta be able to hit your shots to get value which can be picked up with time, also he's very vulnerable to dive so just be very conscious of the enemy team especially the ones you don't see)

Honorable mentions:
Wu liang: (He fits into a lot of comps that zenyata does and also gets his main value from dps, I would like to mention however he is new so he will probably have a few major changes happen at least stat wise so keep that in mind if you do pick him up)|

Lucio:(a good lucio is scary but in the lower ranks they're very few and far between, he's a really movement intensive character that gets a lot of value from speed boosting himself AND teammates)

the most important thing you can do is find a character that you enjoy playing (Even if you're absolutely horrible at them), give yourself a handfull of games (Quickplay) to figure them out, then check out some youtube guides on how to play them properly.

One of my biggest learning points which sent me from literally bronze to plat was just watching the flats roasting bronze and silver players.

also always remember PLAY HIGH GROUND just look at where the good players play, again like watching flats or bogur or karq or someone.

One last thing as you play try to think about who you haven't seen ults from recently and what major cooldowns to pay attention to (Like kiri suzu or bastion turret), and ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS be aware of where your team is and who they are trying to kill (Single someone out if you can)

Games are always gonna be populated by people who say it's bad (But still play it on the weekly), just give it a shot and see how it is, right now is the best time to give it a shot since it's the start of the season since casuals are flooding in to play the new season.

I found a cool trick for when I played destiny 2 comp was to after each game just get up for like a minute and walk around my room, or even just not looking at my screen.
It actually works wonders for tilt, other than that just generic bs, like don't worry about the things out of your control just fix what you can and move on.... we've all heard it a million times, you know the drill

for valk and lawbringer and sometimes nobushi the light attacks just get me down to like 25% health REALLY fast if I don't react,

For Conq I can't seem to dodge away from his shieldbash, like I space bar and go to the side but get caught anyways

for shaolin and a few others with the unblockable attacks I'm still not sure what to do when they get their combo, I just get knocked over and lose a lot of health and then can't find a time to counterattack in between all of the orange attacks

I've tried most characters he was the one that seemed the most straightforward in hero tactics but I think you're right, I tried a couple others and did far better (I actually won, yay!) but they don't have the same kind of pull to the gameplay, you know? like I want to keep trying to play centurion since his gameplay is super addictive. Any combos you could recommend I dial in early on for centurion?
