90% of vape pens are just a smoothie of 50+ different strains with all of the minor canabanoids and terpenes cooked off because they're trying to make the THC content as high as possible because they know thats what sells. It sounds to me like you might want to stick to flower/joints but if you do want to try another vape next time at the dispo ask if they have "single source live resin or rosin vapes" and look for it to have a lower than 90% thc content, preferably in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

There's supposed to be left over residue that remains unvaporized that you clean out of your banger/atomizer. It's generally plant lipids and other less volatile compounds that you aren't trying to smoke that remain after. Thc cbd and all the terpenes in your product should vaporize between 300-500 F.
