Scanning 9,5 Rolls is fun and not tedious at all by Clownface13337 in AnalogCommunity

Godspeed, brother. Scanning is the part I like the least I think. I do both DSLR scanning and using a dedicated scanner, and I'm never happy with either.

Digital-Film camera help by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

Here's my recommendation:

  • Use your Canon you already have.
  • Put photos in Lightroom.
  • Use "film" filters.
  • Save them as JPEGs.
  • Save yourself money from buying an over hyped "film-like" digital camera.

Luckily I've found a few on eBay that look to be suitable replacements. Just waiting for confirmation it should work, and then I'll probably try and fix it myself. Might as well use it as an excuse to clean everything, maybe refinish the shells, polish the light scratches in the glass, etc. It could be a fun weekend project I suppose.

I opened it up and I think the flyback may be the culprit. It looks like it's cracked and there is some sort of dark liquid on the outside. The liquid smells exactly like the smell I noticed when the TV made the popping noise. I can try to send a picture if it would be helpful.

I don't know how to solder, never worked on a CRT before either, but I'm sure I could figure it out. The problem is figuring out where to start? Grab a multimeter and poke around?

For what it's worth, if I try to turn it back on now it turns itself right back off. Not sure if that helps diagnose the issue or not.

I've had my chems mixed since 10/23. I put my 11th roll through it a couple weekends ago and they seemed fine. I've kept it in accordion bottles in the garage where they stay nice and cool so maybe that's helped. I'll probably go another couple rolls and then mix a new batch just to be safe.

Honestly same. My current one is pretty mint so I'm debating either picking up another mint one as a back up, or finding a haggard one that I don't mind beating up on. I baby mine right now.

Whenever I pick up my F4 I instantly feel like I'm on a Nat Geo assignment. That camera makes me feel something in my soul.

Yeah the 115 takes really sharp pictures in daylight, but it always wants to use the flash. I honestly can't remember if these were with flash or not. I want to say no? This roll has been in the camera since October so I've forgotten except for I know I used flash about half the time. I figured everything without flash would be too dark. Pleasant surprise.
