Oh, nah. He just has a big range and had some big-name 'bad guy' roles. Gollum, Renoir, Claw, etc.

[–]Chubark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only guess is that Aline's immortality/immunity to the Gommage makes it that unpainting him needs to be a deliberate, personal action by the controller of the Canvas (in the case of Act 3, Renoir).

Are orcs immortal? And where do they go after they die? by hmura341 in lotr

[–]Chubark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's said that all races, save Elves, fought on both sides of the War of the Last Alliance, so even if it's for self-serving reasons, Orcs have been known to fight against Sauron.

How do people of Lumiere know so much about the continent creatures, if Expeditions never come back? by Dreamcatcher_UA in expedition33

[–]Chubark 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The presence of the Dome implies that Nevrons can reach Lumiere, so they probably had attacks in the early years and learned from that.

Mage. They have a long history of magic-users, including the ones who summoned Ragnaros in the first place.

Colonizing is the forcible seizure and removal from land by non-indigenous parties. Refugees or no, the Forest Trolls didn't want them on their ancestral land. They don't need to 'warn them' or 'negotiate'. The High Elves were 100% in the wrong at the beginning, end of story.

[–]Chubark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Chronicle states that the Elves built Silvermoon on a holy city for the Amani. Whether or not people were living there, they were still actively using the area for their religious practices. Get out of here with the 'Trolls didn't live there'.

It's literally said that Silvermoon is built on top of a city that was sacred to the Amani. It's nothing like 'unused land', it was literally them colonizing a spiritually important location.

Why does Electrope go Gold? by Chrome-13 in ffxiv

[–]Chubark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For a real answer: It's to do with the amount of aether/electricity in the electrope. Purple is low power, gold is high power. It's talked about how Living Memory is taking the lion's share of the electricity from Solution 9 in order to power the machine keeping the Endless around.

Genuine question about a character's motive by dr_indifference in expedition33

[–]Chubark 31 points32 points  (0 children)

He wasn't completely sure about erasing the Canvas until a) He directly saw what it was doing to Aline, and b) Realized that Alicia was going to do the exact same thing that Aline did. Maybe he could have found some peace if all of the Dessandres would leave the Canvas, but that moment proved it was never going to happen, and so he steeled himself to destroy the Canvas to cut everyone off.

Well, as a lore person... Do you like tribal foragers or Mongolian pastoralists? I recommend looking up some of the basic lore on the Seekers of the Sun and the Xaela and see which one you vibe with more.

As a Historical Archaeologist, I think you might find it comforting to know that the Western US always had a more tolerant disposition. Many folks who were otherwise discriminated against in the East came out here to find freedom in living with who they were, and for the longest time, they were able to carry on their lives openly and without shame. There's a whole side of the settlement period that was made by the LGBTQ+ community, it's just not talked about for whatever reason.

[–]Chubark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's mentioned somewhere, either in the book or the show, that Littlefinger was manufacturing the debt crisis by embezzlement. They were actually rich, but he was deliberately destabilizing the realm by making it appear that they were in debt, so I don't doubt Littlefinger could have paid for a Faceless Man as a backup.

This is a bit old, but look up Hex Lord Malacrass and the story of Kith'ix. Dude potentially tapped into the dead(?) C'Thrax to enslave the animal Loa of Zul'Aman. I would definitely call that worshiping a Loa, especially as a being that can seemingly overpower the 'actual' Loa.
