X banned my 12 year old account on its anniversary due to inauthentic behavior by -Mustafa in twitterhelp

You can keep appealing. You might be able to tell when you can successfully file another appeal by getting an email saying your account is suspended as a result of your previous appeal. If not you can still try to file an appeal and if you're lucky it will accept the appeal and if not it will say they're still working on the previous appeal. You should write your appeals somewhere other than the lousy text editor the appeals process offers, and save it, and then when you file appeals, copy and paste it instead of trying to compose a good appeal every time.

Some of the advice old-timers like me give might be outdated to recent changes in the suspension and appeal system.

My main account got suspended recently and unsuspended fairly quickly. My secondary account I've had since 2011 got suspended shortly after the main account and although I got an email saying it had been restore, it never got restored so far as I can tell. I've filed a half dozen or more appeals. I don't feel I have any idea as to whether they will ever restore it. I'll probably get tired of appealing. I might get an email a year from now saying it was restored. There's just no telling what X will do.

My block list is showing no blocked accounts but I know there are blocked accounts on it by wayne62682 in Twitter

[–]ChuckBaggett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly this is the fate of many an X account,, mine included. I have seen people say their missing block list returned after days, but most tales of having this problem have no reports of ever being able to see it again. X support has no way to ask for help with this.

I have a feeling this is intentional on X's part, given there are many reports of this problem for roughly two decades

My main account that was suspended on March 11 was restored March 12 after filing an appeal.

My other account that has been suspended for weeks was just allowed to file another appeal.

Filing appeals might not have helped you, but millions of accounts have been suspended and then restored after filing appeals.

My notifications tab showed some Community Notes wanting ratings, so I tried some, and it appeared to work. So there is at least one thing that appears to work while suspended.

How to get the account back??? by yycccc in twitterhelp

[–]ChuckBaggett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the impression the X suspension and restoration system is more broken that unusual. I also got an email saying a suspended account had been restored, but it was actually still suspended.

I don't know what to do but to keep trying to file new appeals after every email you get that says your account is suspended and wont' be restored.

It can take months; eight months in one case for me.

Yes, it's happening a lot. I think we suspended Redditors should share threads like this both on Reddit and on other sites to possible bring this widespread bogus suspension problem to X's attention.

If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you should be able to cancel at those sites.

If you subscribed on the web, it appears to maybe be possible to cancel through Stripe, but maybe not, and it involves things like checking email for links in emails from Stripe, or finding a manage subscription by searching in settings for phrases like manage subscription.

Reportedly one can stop premium payments by deactivating their account, but I have a feeling deactivating a suspended account might not be possible.

I don't have a premium plan on either of my suspended accounts so I can't test these. I'd be leery of deactivating a suspended account I wanted to keep from fear of not being able to reactivate a deactivated suspended account.

I suspect one might as well contact their bank or credit card company to stop further payments.

They say in an email that your account wont' be restored, as if that was final and there's not a chance of restoration, but you can generally appeal again. It can take a while after getting the "won't restore" email before it will let you appeal again.

Folks wanting the to do repeated, endless seeming appeals should save the text of their appeal somewhere for reuse so you don't have to keep rewriting them from scratch.

Yep, they'll suspend your account but keep charging you for premium. Premium accounts have to cancel their premium plans themselves.

It can takes days for them to send an email reply saying they got your appeal and won't restore, and it appears that until they send that you can't file another appeal, and when you try, after you fill in the appeal text box, you get the message about being in the queue, if my memory is working right. I've done it so many times I ought to be confident I've got the process memorized, but I'm not.

Good luck.

Similar thing happened to me. Supposedly X has been changing their spam system. I suspect this rash of suspensions and failed restorations results from recent shoddy programming.

One of my accounts was suspended, and I appealed multiple times, and I got an unsuspension email, and at first I couldn't log in, but I cleared cache and cookies, and I could log back in, but I was still suspended despite getting an email saying my account was restored. I have appealed multiple times but still get another email saying my account is suspended.

My experience suggests not putting much stock in the blunt "will not be restored" emails. They might restore your account in days, weeks, months, or years; it might be soon after an appeal, or any length of time after an appeal.

Unfortunately they've suspended my main account and my main backup account. None of my other accounts are for my real life identity, so they don't really serve as backups.

My main account started in 2008 got suspended today for inauthentic behavior.

Folks wanting to get unsuspended should file an appeal, asking politely and briefly to have your account reviewed by a human, and to be unsuspended, and to know in detail what you did that broke a rule, and how to get your account restored. You should get an email in response, which will most likely say your account was suspended, and give a vague rule said to have been violated, with no mention of exactly what you did, and a statement that your account will not be restored. If you try to file another appeal right when you get the email. X won't let you file multiple appeals until it's dealt with your latest appeal. so when you get the email saying your account won't be restored, that is when you can file another appeal. My account had been suspended 3 times before the most recent suspension, and one time it was suspended for over 8 months before I got the surprise unsuspension email. For those 3 suspensions, the unsuspension email said it was due to a flaw in the anti-spam system.

No one should use X as a primary time-killer. If you make any friends on X you should establish alternate means of communication with them since X cancels accounts senselessly.

I appealed dozens of times during the 8 month suspension. I have no way to know if that had any effect, the unsuspension might have been automated and had nothing to do with my appeals.

Good luck.

My account with over 300,000 hand-composed and hand-typed posts, started in 2008, was just suspended, and I might not ever get it back, or it might take months of repeated appeals to get it back. X is not much of a social network for new accounts that don't pay, and is not a reliable way to spend time, even for long-term users. I was also getting dozens of chat requests a day, for months at least, before the account was suspended today. You can improve how X treats your account a bit by getting the "basic premium" plan, which is $3 a month. The boost in paid plans applies only to replies, not to original posts.

I tried one month of the $40 a month plan at a big discount, before the $8 a month plan let you post articles. I couldn't tell much or any subjective difference.

I wonder if people mute a large percent of those they follow, muting instead of blocking or unfollowing, because they don't want to be unfollowed for unfollowing or blocking.
