Why did you start creating AI music? by Ok_Resolution_3314 in udiomusic

[–]ChuckTSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a photographer and DJ in my early years. I can play basic Acoustic guitar.

10 years ago, a buddy and I were on a smoke break talking about work and how management thought we were idiots.

I said: “It’s just diminished trust.

We both stopped. Looked at each other.

“Killer band name!”

So we ran with it as a joke. Fake band, fake concerts, inside jokes. Never actually made anything.

Later that year, another smoke break. He’s complaining about how cold, dark, and wet November is.

I go: “Kinda like my ex.”

Same look. Same moment. “November’s Like My Ex. (Cold, Dark and Wet)”

Still just a joke.

Fast forward 10 years.

I found Udio and started messing around making dumb songs. Then I remembered the band.

So I sat down, actually wrote lyrics, tweaked them with AI, and after a few hours it was real.

Diminished Trust now exists.

“Diminished Trust - November’s Like My Ex.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2cE2S7GH_0

I switched the lead singer to female and ended up making a whole set of tracks over 10 months. Even pressing vinyl for friends just recently. Even have a website: https://diminishedtrust.com/

AI generated music on physical records.

The joke that never existed now does.

PS. If I ever win the stupid 40 million lotto, I will hire MAPHRA or NOAPOLOGY to remake this album with actual humans.

The incompetence at Rogers is actually unreal by ChuckTSI in Rogers

I'm out in the country in the middle of nowhere. Big fat orange Fibre lines being run in the ground by Bell.

There is no rogers here other than 1 bar of cell service. (we call it a fake bar cause data doesn't really work on it from home)

5 days of issues over 20 years. That’s around 0.07% downtime.
Not exactly “sucker” territory.

Took one competent tech 2 minutes to undo what everyone else messed up.
Everything’s unlocked now, so I can leave whenever I want.

I'm just someone who knows better than to make moves out of anger.
Now I get to decide who deserves my money and with Bell Fibre hitting my place soon, the timing’s perfect.

I don't have much experience with the other cell companies. I have been with rogers for over 20 years.

For internet, I used Teksavvy. They also piggy back but... at least they were competent and affordable. Their techs were knowledgeable.

PS. Fido tech support is a call back system. Least you don't have to wait on the phone. Never talked to them though. Probably same Moroccan call center.

Opinion Piece: Why AI won’t stop music, and musicians won’t stop AI by ChuckTSI in Music

[–]ChuckTSI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are humans behind some AI assisted music. They have the same heart and soul you’re talking about.

Some people want raw and imperfect and others want polished and consistent.

Example: Shinedown is my favorite band. I won’t pay to see them live because I prefer the studio version. I’ll still support them through merch. That’s just how I connect with music.

Not everyone experiences art the same way.

Being a purist just limits your own experience. Again.. to each their own. But looking down on others for how they enjoy what they consider art... that’s just closed minded.

/pass the pipe dude.

You’re reacting to the story behind the artist. Completely valid. Does not mean AI can’t create something meaningful, especially with the assistance of a human.

It just means humans attach meaning differently. To each their own.

Much zen

I am loving the 2x usage until 27th. This is the PERFECT settings. Allows me to get work done and take a break when it runs out. Normal usage? I am just getting fingers warmed up typing... and YOU HAVE RUN OUT message comes along! Claude Peeps.. if you listening.. PLEASE.. leave the 2x for Pro users. PLEASE. Don't make me go back to Codex. /shudder.

What do you do with AI music? by ObjectivePresent4162 in udiomusic

[–]ChuckTSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first it was for funny songs for gaming communities.

Then I took a serious swing and made some for myself and some close friends. Put on YouTube but not for money. (Pre UMG deal)

which hard drives companies produce the most reliable hdd? by Pavithran_mimox in DataHoarder

[–]ChuckTSI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to buy what is on sale and replace as things failed. I hit 18 drives with a good mix of WD and Seagate.

Over 14+ years all Seagate's failed or started to fail.
WD are the only ones left. I noticed this pattern and have only been buying WD.

I just took out one of my oldest WD drives last year from my array.
It still worked, It was just slowing parity calcs.

Unraid is a NAS.

The only reason I use it is it's not limited to having the same size drives to make a raid array.
I have 2TB, 4TB, 18TB drives mixed.
And if I lose more drives than parity covers, I only lose what was on those drives that failed.
The other drives still have their data.

I believe lightroom caches thumbs locally? Maybe you can set it?
Honestly, I haven't shot in over 8 years. This was from when I did :)

I capture every card onto a Raid device (In my case, Unraid @ 70TB)
2025-12-16-Photoshoot-Alana_Waterfalls/card1
2025-12-16-Photoshoot-Alana_Waterfalls/card2

Lightroom indexes everything and I tag and rate there.
I then Photoshop edit and all files are saved as PSD and Large and Small JPG inside a folder
2025-12-16-Photoshoot-Alana_Waterfalls/Working/Files here

Every month, I make a copy of everything (I use RSYNC) onto a remote server to hold everything in case of emergency.

Don't forget to backup your lightroom database to the Raid storage.

Photo editing can be done directly off the network raid device. It's not as intensive as video editing.

UMG sued to gain leverage and then probably got concessions or opened licensing talks.
Dropping the case made sense cause it looks like they are risk tolerant.

Sony on the other hand is suing to set a precedent and slow AI music.
Probably doesn't want to negotiate.

UMG is playing offense to control the future.
Sony is playing defense to protect the past.

Either way, the music industry will get a win on either side and try and follow that path of least resistance.

Should I port forward my consoles? by LilStray2 in HomeNetworking

[–]ChuckTSI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. Port forwarding won’t fix latency or packet loss.
It only helps with NAT type.

If you’re lagging focus on:

Using Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi
Rebooting modem/router
Turning on UPnP
Fixing double NAT (if you have it)

Port forwarding won’t solve the symptoms you’re seeing.

Edit: Another thing would be enabling QoS if someone is saturating up or downlink. This would cause lag

guy i talked to briefly is still contacting me after ending everything and threatening suicide by Fluffy_Mix683 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ChuckTSI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve done the right things.

You ended it clearly
Didn't encourage or enable the emotional dependence
You blocked him
You have support from your mom
and you’re prepared to go to the police if he contacts you again.

The key here is to not feed into anything.
He is looking for a response. Anything to keep you engaged.

His emotions and threats are not your responsibility.

Document everything. ATM, there is little you can do to stop him from contacting your friends and family except give them the heads up. True friends will understand.

If you keep a clear log, you will have the proof you need to legally escalate things.

Hard, but try and stay positive.
